Exclusive Baby Gorilla Photos! (plus bonus Trip Report) - June '15 - completed 10/23 - Page 31

So, what is there to do in Morocco? Well, shop, basically. And NEVER buy anything.

I think about that a lot with regards to the shopping in Morocco - there is a ton of cool stuff there to look at/try on ... but do they really sell a lot? Although one year we did buy a bracelet for my daughter as a reward for meeting all the princesses that had individual pages in her princess autograph book. I know, she has a tough life.

Mitsukoshi is pretty cool! As a tip, for your next trip, they do sell candy there ;)

We also have never done the Perry adventures, but I have seen the one you saw activate and also the one in the Mexico Pavilion. My kids aren't quite into it yet but I think it is a great idea as a way to get kids more into exploring World Showcase.

I'm glad to see they are starting to announce some new plans for Innoventions - though so far really just that Colortopia one, but at least it is something. I did hear some rumor that Disney may be moving closer to being able to have Marvel stuff in the parks, and if that is true, using one of the Innovention buildings as like "Stark Labs" would be kinda cool.

I like the idea of those games in the Imagination Pavilion - though they do need updating. Actually, that whole pavilion needs some updating and feels underused. Not that they have to kick Figment out, but is an area to bring some updating to EPCOT. Actually think a version of Figment that utilizes the Hong Kong Disneyland Mystic Manor system would be kinda cool

Love the Mexico Pavilion and the Mexican It's a Small World ride

Quite possibly drinking, too.
... in the Mexico Pavilion?!?!?!? no!!!! ;) That's pretty cool though that just a random guest participated and was so good.

I have similar feelings to you about the new Arendelle Pavilion ... and am taking a bit of a wait-and-see approach. Just hope it doesn't take away from the edutainment element of World Showcase and just be about the movie. If it was specifically Norway that it took place in and you could add some education elements, ok, but it is a made up place, so not sure how that will work out.

Bummer about the lack of paper coasters. I love picking them up for various breweries here in the US and also when I am abroad (always pick up some if in Switzerland for work)

Biergarten is one place we haven't done yet - just never gets enough votes vs other options at EPCOT, though I do like German food. The fact that you can get a liter of Schohoffer Grapefruit though might make my wife vote yes for this next time though

Well, I guess cool strobelight effect from Illuminations is better than no Illuminations, right?

yup, sounds like a day full of nothing coming up ... that should be an exciting update: "we got up, did nothing and went to bed. Thanks for reading" ;)

Love reading your trip reports! I'm especially liking the pics of CBR. It's on my short list for our Nov. 2016 list. I'm surprised your son slept on the Murphy bed. Here I was wondering if it would be big enough for my youngest who will be 10 the next trip. Guess so!

Tomorrow is our "do nothing" day, unless you count hours of swimming, Downtown Disney, Raglan Road, and La Nouba as "nothing".

Well that sounds like a whole lotta fun to me!!

Loving your report! Sorry about the lack of view from your resort but...at least you didn't have to fight the crowds to get back!!

She had a wonderful time and is already talking about planning a trip to Europe again next year. Get a job kid!

Great to hear! Enjoy the freedom while it lasts!

We haven't eaten at Biergarten in many years but the last time we did we shared our table with a couple that didn't talk.

That was sort of what we had one year. It was bizarre.

Steve LOVES that beer. He consumed a lot of it at the GF pool bar last year.

I was upset when they got ride of the Franziskaner Hefeweizen a few years back, but this tops it as my favorite summer beer!

Picture it: Pittsburgh suburbs, 1975! In the summer these trucks would drive through our neighborhood at dusk and spray for mosquitoes. The neighborhood kids, me & my siblings included, would run behind the truck laughing & whooping it up as the mist fell on us. I can still remember the smell. I'm surprised we aren't dead yet.

That explains a lot ;)

Riding the monorail to EPCOT is fun except for when you are riding it to the park in the morning and see the masses lined up at the turnstiles. Ugh! We got here too late!

I bet! We've thought about riding it to Epcot, but since we haven't really stayed at an MK resort, it never made sense.

I'm not sure if the grapefruit beer is available at the booth at Germany. I'll check when we are there in 25 days! :hyper:

It is. I got several there last year and this year!

Oh, and my parents rarely let us drink soda but we drank tons of Kool-Aid <- Pitcher of water+artificial flavor & color packet+1 cup of sugar. Ack!

So much more healthy than soda! We'd have iced tea that was basically all sugar. But so good.

Joining in! Enjoying your TR, it's a great read :) We were in WDW in June too and stayed at CBR (Jamaica) -- and I TOTALLY agree with your comment on those long cylinder pillows :rotfl2::confused3:rotfl2:Our son loved using them as a weapon and would challenge my husband daily for a dual!

They were flying across our room like javelins! Thanks for joining in! Glad to you like it :) We loved CSR!

"But why can't we do ___?" - common quote from our kids. Shut up, kid. You get to do A LOT!

Mitsukoshi is pretty cool! As a tip, for your next trip, they do sell candy there ;)

Wait - really?

We also have never done the Perry adventures, but I have seen the one you saw activate and also the one in the Mexico Pavilion. My kids aren't quite into it yet but I think it is a great idea as a way to get kids more into exploring World Showcase.

I sort of want to try it again. The effects are really neat. Maybe next year!

That would be cool! Have to look up Colortopia, since I'm out of the loop on that one. The name alone sounds fun :)

Mystic Manor looks so awesome! I would love if they did something similar here.

Love the Mexico Pavilion and the Mexican It's a Small World ride

I love the Three Caballeros and their theme song, but preferred the old attraction :(

Sort of like they did in the church area now, where they tell you what inspired the various elements in Frozen. I'd accept that.

Bummer about the lack of paper coasters. I love picking them up for various breweries here in the US and also when I am abroad (always pick up some if in Switzerland for work)

I'm not giving up just yet.

Biergarten is one place we haven't done yet - just never gets enough votes vs other options at EPCOT, though I do like German food. The fact that you can get a liter of Schohoffer Grapefruit though might make my wife vote yes for this next time though

That IS a big plus.

Thanks for the spoiler, Max.

My heels hung of the end, but I'm the only one in our family who sleeps like he's in a coffin, so it was fine for the kids. CBR was fantastic! LOTS more pictures on "do nothing day" :) Thanks for joining in!

Well that sounds like a whole lotta fun to me!!

Loving your report! Sorry about the lack of view from your resort but...at least you didn't have to fight the crowds to get back!!

We may have just been in the wrong spot. Or they didn't run the whole show. Stay tuned :)

I won't be able to update until probably Tuesday, but thanks, everybody, for reading! We've officially reached over 50 unique commenters (yes, I'm keeping track). I greatly appreciate it!

I love the idea of something related to Stark Labs! I've been watching all the Avenger and individual Avengers' movies of late........

I wonder if I stole, um, I mean borrowed, any of the coasters while we were in Europe? I'm sure I did, cuz I tend to pocket stuff like that.....for my scrapbook.....then it sits in the plastic bag for years on end......

I have a picture of my hubby playing oppossum on the murphy bed when we stayed at POR.....it should be on page 1 of my trip report or early on page 2. He's 6'1".

LOL I found the picture and I think there will be plenty of room for my little guy. I showed him the picture and he agrees. Of course, now my older son wants that bed.

While the food wasn't as good as I remembered, I still enjoyed eating, and we have a wonderful time. Great tablemates, too. All things added up, this is still one of my favorite meals at WDW.
After reading that, I really want to try eating there!

Great picture! And you only got two people in it (one who looks like their skipping....)

More photos!

I'm loving this resort! More photos!

Kristin and the kids hit the quiet pool, and I head over to Caribbean El Centro again, to refill my mug.

More photos!

When I reach the main pool, it's open! I go back to the quiet pool, we all make way to the main pool for a swim. Oddly enough, we don't take any pictures.

The pool is fantastic. The big slide isn't nearly as fun as the one at Coronado, but it's good enough, and the theming, shape, and sloped entry make it every bit as nice as CSR's.

Back to the room, eventually. I see bell services delivered three of our bags. Ok....but we brought four.

The fourth, as we find out with a phone call, is at the Custom House, and will be delivered shortly. Alright. Not sure how they got separated, but at least it's being rectified.

The first and only time I was ever at CBR was in 1990. These pictures brought me back! I remember walking down those paths, in the HOT summer FL sun and thinking that this is where I wanted to be, forever and ever! That was my first time to WDW and these pictures helped me re-live that magic. Thank you! I'm just going through TR's to fix my WDW withdrawal, and I'm loving your's!

I love the idea of something related to Stark Labs! I've been watching all the Avenger and individual Avengers' movies of late........

I am woefully behind on most of the Marvel movies. It's embarrassing. In high school, I collected a bunch of Marvel Comics titles, too.

I wonder if I stole, um, I mean borrowed, any of the coasters while we were in Europe? I'm sure I did, cuz I tend to pocket stuff like that.....for my scrapbook.....then it sits in the plastic bag for years on end......

I've done similar things.

The Murph is magnificent!

LOL I found the picture and I think there will be plenty of room for my little guy. I showed him the picture and he agrees. Of course, now my older son wants that bed.

Oh, you're in for it now. I suggest you settle it with cylindrical pillow jousting.

After reading that, I really want to try eating there!

It's a lot of fun! We don't really have anything like it that close to us, either. We have a German restaurant, which we love, but there's no show :(

Great picture! And you only got two people in it (one who looks like their skipping....)

Thanks! The rain helped!

I LOVED walking around the resort. I didn't care how hot it was. In fact, the hotter, the better.

Thanks for joining in! More updates coming in a few minutes...

Notes are extremely sketchy for this day, so buckle up! We're going on photos!

I do have four, brief lines of notes, however, starting with "Up at 9:30". Yep, that pretty says it like it is. But 9:30? In Disney?

I'm the first one up, as usual, which gives me the opportunity for a walk to Old Port Royale.

Hey, we're going there later! Now, a jungle shot:

And a lakeswamp shot:

I get back to the room, and we make another call to Tech Support about the wifi. This is ridiculous.

Oh well, no time for that now. Let's swim!

Note: If you appear in any of the following photos and would like a black bar superimposed over your eyes, this Trip Report offers that service. Send me a PM.

Anyway, here's the pool!

Those were both taken from up by the pool slide. Here's where you, the reader, get the opportunity to play Where are "Dylan, Emily, and Jon?"

Pools not super crowded, which is nice.

Kristin's not done with the camera yet, so here are more pools shots:

You can see the little slide in the background. It's...little. Like, I feel silly on it. And it's not that fun. Here it is up close:

I'm guessing I'm not the target audience here.

The big slide, on the other hand, is great, but it doesn't compare to the Jag-u-lar slide at Coronado. Not even close. Oh well, we're here, not there. Let's enjoy this.

More photos:

Really cool theming!

I think this is me on the slide:

And this is Emily floating:

Oddly enough, the lifeguards didn't seem to care that kids were reaching over the mouth of the slide and giving hi-fives to the sliders, as long as they didn't actually climb on the rocks (which some did).

So, of course, I hi-fived them. You can't leave them hanging.

More photos!

This is a great pool! Overall, I think I like this pool better than Coronado's. But not by much. Because of the pool slide at Coronado. "Hallooooo!"

Alright, it's time to eat!

Old Port Royale has an awesome food court, which I don't get photos of at this time. But here's the food:

That was my cuban. Really good. I don't know what the rest is, however. That's where the notes end.

Did you happen to spot the Monkey Cupcake, in the plastic box? If not, here it is again:

I read about this in Britbrie's awesome trip report, and we all had to try it.

And it was amazing. Vanilla or chocolate cake (you choose!), whipped peanut butter frosting, and a banana center. Oh my.

Definitely a highlight of the trip. And this won't be the last time we get one.

Back outside for more photos!

And now, some shots with people!

We're done swimming and eating, so it's back to our room to get ready to go to Downtown Disney. This family takes a long time to get ready.

On the way, more photos!

We get ready, and we're getting gussied up tonight:

It doesn't take long to catch a bus to Downtown Disney in the afternoon, and before you know it, we're there, at

First order of business, photos!

I like that mural, but wish they didn't have to get rid of Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum to make it. Grrrrr.

The duck on the right looks mad about it, too:

We still have a little while until we catch the La Nouba early show, so there's time for shopping. But first, another photo!

We start in Tren-D, which is a pretty cool store. Nothing for me, though.

\\

We have a direct flight inside the store to Team Mickey Athletic Club, which has NO DISNEY VIKINGS STUFF, but does have this, for some reason:

Love that painting!

I'm starting to think I'm still in Tren-D, which I probably am. More cool art:

More cool theming:

From there, we proceed on to Oh My God Kids Don't Touch or Breathe on ANYTHING Bros Glass and Crystal.

I didn't take any photos, since an accidental flash could set off a chain reaction that puts the old Memorex commercials to shame.

So outside we go, where I get this awful picture of a really great poster:

We reach World of Disney, and the spendfest begins. I want antenna toppers and a shirt. Kristin wants stuff. Dylan...not sure. Emily, of course, still wants that stuffed Pluto.

In we go, and the theming is, of course, amazing:

Somehow, the guy who gets photos of everything else didn't really get a lot of photos in that store. And we were in there A WHILE.

Most of that time, mind you, was spent trying to talk Emily out of getting Pluto.

That may sound cold, but we could very much see Pluto joining Simba in the bag in the closet after 1-2 weeks of cuddling. Duffy is the one. And he does NOT like competition.

But Emily's not hearing it. She wants Pluto.

Things are getting ugly, as a strong-willed (can't really express the reality of it on the DISboards) child goes toe-to-toe with her parents.

Kristin's leading the front against Pluto, and she's making good suggestions for alternatives. How about a costume for Duffy? How about...a Pluto costume?

...

Nope. No good. Still has to be Pluto. Eventually, Kristin drops the hammer down, and Pluto is not happening. Emily needs to pick something else. And she does.

Baby Duffy.

Are you kidding me? ANOTHER Duffy? She already has Duffy (her original) and Dufferson (Dylan's). Does she really need another Duffy?

I express this thought, and Emily busts into tears, stating, "one parent (Kristin) finally says it's ok, and the other says I can't get it!"

After thinking about it for about two seconds, I realize she's right, and I'm overreacting. So Baby Duffy - "Baby D", for short - it is:

And she loves Baby D to this day. I was wrong. She chose wisely. Much better choice than Pluto!

We checked out, getting Baby D, 4 park glasses with artwork for two attractions on each one, a Madame Leota tombstone antenna topper, a Mickey Ice Cream bar antenna topper to replace the one stolen by neighborhood hooligans, a Haunted Mansion magnet, and the promotional Walt Disney World beach towel. We may have bought more, but I'm trying to purge that receipt from my memory.

I didn't find a shirt, though.

Of course, we got a percentage off thanks to the Disney Visa card, so "woo hoo!" for that!

One last shot, and it's on to La Nouba!

It's a hike to the theater, so I get more pictures on the way:

In the background is the new bridge to Rainforest.

I'll have better pictures later.

Hey, aqua cars!

These are apparently mini-versions of the duck tour vehicles from Boston, etc. Pretty cool! No time tonight, though. La Nouba!

But first, more walking!

Hey, no kidding. Look - food trucks!

Kristin doesn't think these are on the DDP, which would be sad, but I'm not sure. Not eating right now anyway, so that's irrelevant. More walking!

And finally, the La Nouba theater!

...

Which I didn't get a picture of, for some reason. Oh well, it's almost showtime!

(Next Update)
