Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

@Scott MC - great news on your dad- I tell my patients (and families) day 3 post op is the peak as far as the hardest day after surgery. Hope he continues to recover well!

@TeenaS I wish I could ship you tomatoes! Returned today from quick trip to lake (work tomorrow and off to St Louis for weekend including Cardinals game) to this (with tons more coming!)

Notice my ladies in the back ground hoping I drop one -or two or all of them- I did actually give them the deformed one-with all the rain we've had it was starting to get bottom rot-must get some Epsom salt into the garden before I leave!

Got an email about a Disney College Program Alumni reunion in January(no specifics yet so no idea of resort)...may be same weekend we were already looking at for a conference in Orlando...DH said something about that today...(no-I have not looked up airfare already...well maybe one quick peak)

Those tomatoes look so good .... I can almost taste them!

Happy Anniversary to you and Mark. Next year will be number 30 for us too. Not sure if I want to "risk" booking Hawaii for the 30th as the trip for our 25th turned out to be for our 26th and almost was cancelled due to Sandy and a snow storm.

A trip where you get all the events in would be awesome. We are doing MNSSHP this year for the first time.

Nothing beats a Jersey fresh tomato. A great summer lunch of Tomato on a roll with Mayo, salt and pepper is not to be missed. Wish we were going there to be able to give you some.

I'm not quite sure, but probably the blend of the cuts of beef they use. I'm pretty sure that Crews Cup uses the same kitchen, and grills, as the Yachtsman next door. Every one I've had was grilled to perfection and very juicy. Just our personal opinion, but me, my DW and DS all think they are great!
We love their burgers too!

Taking a few minutes to enjoy the balcony this morning. We have had 2 long days. Did the Wild Africa Trek on Monday. Highly recommend it! 2nd time for hubby & I, first for kids. Yesterday we did the Ultimate Day of Thrills tour (yes, I know we could do it on our own, lol) but it was a lot of fun. Had a great group, guides were fun and we did all our favorites in one day so if we don'the get back to them we don't feel like we missed out. Can cross off trying HBD now. It was good but not a repeat for us.

Son has had the room temp at deep freeze so my tablet is acting up. I can type one thing and something totally different shows up. Anyway, someone asked about full balconies. Sitting on ours looking out the back entrance and the 4th floor rooms over here are all the small balconies and some of the third floor ones are also small.

Hope everyone is having a great day!!
I've been wanting to try the Wild Africa Trek. Just don't know about doing it in the hot summer?

People have mentioned going over to the Boardwalk resort in the evenings for the entertainment.....what kind of entertainment is there?
We've seen mimes, jugglers & magicians. Your basic street entertainers. Nothing fancy, but fun.

Hi all!

2 bits of great news!

1. (Most importantly) Dad did quite well with his surgery on Monday and is recovering nicely! His surgeon is pleased, and though to us, it looks terrible, his nurses are very encouraging, saying that he looks terrific considering it's only been 48 hours. Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers...

2. My Magic Bands actually arrived today! They are for our stint at CR, but our BC ones have been on the way since yesterday! Wheee!
Good to hear your Dad is recovering nicely! What a relief for you I'm sure. Great news! And Yay for MBs! We pick ours up at resort, they don't ship to Canada. But I figure, it's one less thing to forget to pack, lol.

Awhile back there was a report of a giant alligator swimming around in a large pond near my home. It caused quite the sensation in the local papers and the sightings, all unconfirmed, seem to multiply as the days went by. Pretty soon the police and wildlife officials were dispatched on a fruitless search for this suburban beast.

It became quite the disappointment when, much like the Loch Ness monster, no reliable confirmation of it's existence was ever confirmed. Finally someone (not me!) had enough and tossed this thing into the pond so as not to disappoint all the neighborhood busybodies who were on "Gator watch" .

I'd be tempted to haul one of these things down to the Beach Club Villas and throw it in the pond just to see what the real alligator would think.

PS, This is coming from a woman who ties fishing line to my dog's stuffed squirrel toy and dangles this squirrel toy out a second story window so the dog sees it dancing in front of the sliding glass door. He goes nuts at this sight and barks his head off. Right as the person downstairs opens the door, the toy squirrel mysteriously flies up in the air and on to the roof, out of the grasp of they dog's gnashing fangs.
Bwahahaha. Thanks for making me choke on my drink, lol!! Poor dog!!

Sad day. My two girls go home today. Lily told me this morning when she climbed into bed with me that I shouldn't be sad. She'll be back at Christmas and we can go to Magic Kingdom and eat at the Beast's Castle and then we can eat with Donald at Animal Kingdom and then we can eat with Cinderella and Prince Charming and can we please eat with Mandy and Doc at Hollywood Studios? That kid thinks Disney 24/7 ... I'm so happy I was able to get BOG ... now I have to work on the other ones she wants.

Poor Bob won't see them again until Christmas but I'll be flying out there on August 18th so it won't be too bad for me. And then I'll be out there for Halloween too. Lily is going as Snow White, Jeanne as the evil queen and the rest of us will have t-shirts with the dwarfs' names on them. I claimed Happy.
It's all about the food!!! Lol.

LIVE REPORT!!!!

Good morning from the comfort of my BC bed. My husband is snoring so loudly you can probably hear him wherever you are!

We spent thirteen hours at MK on Sunday. It wasn't crazy crowded but I also believe MK is less crowded on weekends and more crowded on Mondays. We were able to do all of the biggies via FP. One thing I've noticed on FP is that twice our FP's have turned into "choice of experience" FP's without any email notifications like in the past. Something must have happened at the beginning of our 3:35 BTMRR FP because when I checked MDE for our exact time, it was a "choice of experience" that included a choice of many rides and were good until midnight. It was so hot that my son and husband chose Splash while the girls and I chose BTMRR. And it happened again yesterday for Epcot. The ride must have been down at some point so they made the change. Interesting....

My husband and I took the new World Showcasr DestiNations tour yesterday. It was neat to learn all about each pavilion. It was five hours and included lunch at Restaurant Marakkesh. We had never dined there before and really enjoyed our couscous and baklava. We were the only two people on the tour so we felt like VIP's walking around with our own "plaid person"! It was very detailed and more info than I wanted in some points but overall I really enjoyed it. So did my husband. We went backstage a little but most of it was onstage. Our guide Julie was great! I highly recommend it if you love World Showcase.

After our tour I had the glamorous job of doing laundry. Fun! I wish I had four washers at home since I was done super quick! Someone got in the elevator with us as we were dragging our dirty goods to the laundry room and gave us a quizzical look. So I said we are doing laundry. He said he had spent $145 doing laundry. I asked him if he ruined something because this was only going to cost us $20. He said no. He had the resort do his family's laundry and that he didn't know you could do your own. It was my turn to look at him like he was CRAZY!

Teena and I had fabulous visits on Sunday and Monday! She's such a gem!

Today will be spent at SAB then we will vote as to where to go later. Maybe a park? Maybe to DTD? Who knows!

Ocalla, I took a pic of the wines but haven't found the protein drinks. All I saw was Monster energy drink. But I'll check again.

Have a Magical Tuesday everyone!
Loving your live reports!

So want to see the Halloween pictures! So Lily LOVES all things Disney - now where could she inherited that gene from?

Catho- we were "that guy with the laundry"! Our first trip to the GF we had no ide there was a small laundry room off the lobby. Also I seriously under estimated the amount of clothes the kids would go through. Long story short ended up spending I er $200 in laundry. DH said the same thing that it would be cheaper to buy new ones. At least he said that til I bought the kids new socks and underwear in gift shop and spent $80 on just that! Learned quickly after that trip to overpack and find the laundry room!
I can tell you all about overpacking!! Every trip I try NOT to, no really!! So far it's been an epic fail! It's prob a good thing they charge now for each piece so I'm not tempted to pack 2 suitcases.

Funny story about overpacking DH always complained that I iverpacked. In those days Southwest Airlines allowed you 3 bags each! We were getting in the shuttle from the airport hotel and the driver asked DH if we were relocating to Florida!

Sad night-packing to leave in the morning. Lucky enough to get to move over to the Wilderness Lodge though! Can't wait to try something new and compare to Beach Club. Cast members have been very friendly and helpful. They seem really upbeat and happy. Chef Chris is wonderful. Happy to answer questions or give out recipes. He's excited about what they've changed so far and things to come (maybe omelets in the future!) Had a chance meeting-met catho76 tonight in the lounge!

We're just really happy to have a magical deal and are returning for New Year's Eve! Any questions let me know!

I never ever say no to Tastycakes and Tastypies!!!!! I love anything chocolate and my pie choice is chocolate or cherry. Once in a while we can get some of them here now that we have WAWA but the selection is very limited. But if you have room for a real Jersey tomato, I would kill for one!!!!! Florida has no idea what a real tomato tastes like!!!!!

@TeenaS We live in Maryland so we cannot bring you a Jersey tomato. But we can bring you some of our home grown tomatoes when we check in on 8/2.

I resemble this! We could still get the first bag free so we all have a suitcase, carry on and personal bag. Repacking it all tonight I have so much we haven't worn! Good part is the clean stuff stays separate so maybe I can do less laundry when we get home, maybe...

Edit-blasted tablet went temperamental again, won't quote SueM.

I was reading up on the tour. Sounds like so so much fun. Would you mind sharing your experience? Did you always go thru back entrances? How long was the longest wait? I can't see that it's in our financial future but it sounds fun! Going to 3 parks without all the complicated transportation and gates etc sounds so relaxing.

Hello from Anne Arundel county! Our "Maryland" tomatoes this year have been outstanding. Glad you may bring some to Teena, don't think we will still have any at the end of August when we go to BC.

Hello from another Anne Arundel County dweller here!

It really was a lot of fun. There were 30 people and we had 3 cast members to follow. We started with MK. You start with the rides at the back of the park after meeting at Tomorrowland Terrace. You place your lunch order after check in. So we started with Splash, then Big Thunder, Haunted Mansion, 7 Dwarfs, had a rest room break, then Space. Also rode Buzz. We went in the fast pass lines and barely waited at all. Went out a back exit by Buzz then over to HS. Ate lunch at HBD. It is a limited menu. It was good, but not a repeat for us. After that we rode Toy Story, Star Tours, RRC then TT. Went in and out an exit by RRC. Over to AKL. Went in by Dinosaur, rode Everest 2 times then Dinosaur. DINOSAUR was our longest wait and that was maybe 10 minutes. They gave us a choice of staying there or going back to MK. Back to MK got us back in by Buzz. They use a van to move between the parks. They provide water, frozen towels and hard candy in the vans. We had a group that was a lot of fun and would do it again if we had the extra money. We currently have annual passes so we didn't have to buy park hopper tickets and we got a discount on the tour.

Holy cow ... that would be wonderful. Maryland, Jersey, Pennsylvania ... they are pretty much the same and taste nothing like what we can get here!!!!! That night I will plan on having tomato and mayo sandwich for dinner when I get home from work. I can taste it now. WOW!!! Thank you sooooo much!

I always underpack, knowing full well I'm going to need something and I'm going to get to buy it. I do it no matter where I go, I know I'm going to want a tshirt or something so it's my little game with myself. I wasn't wasting money, I had nothing to wear.

I was interested after seeing your first quote so I searched on it and found a few reports about it. Sounds really fun, especially if you are on a short trip and want to pack a lot of rides in. One question, could you sit a ride out? I'm not a fan of RNRC, it hurts my neck, also don't like Spash, I'm a pansy and don't like walking around with wet clothes.

Ha! Of all people, my husband tells me that. He says why are you packing so much, just but things there  but I do both, over pack and buy things there, sigh. But maybe not buying so much this year with low Canadian $
