Hi Tracy! I'm always jealous of people who get to take solo trips. Not that I don't enjoy going with my family. I really do. But getting some time to myself in the parks is always so much fun!! Anyway, I'm here and look forward to reading about your trip!

Solo trips are amazing. Ironically, I was looking around during some points of my trip thinking "I wish I had a husband and kids to share this with". So... goes to show it's always nice to dream about the alternative from time to time...

Well, yeah! Who doesn't count Disney World among their favorite places?

Great reason for a trip! And I love Pop Century. Seems like a great place to stay for a solo trip.

Pop is a perfect solo trip resort

Ugh, it wasn't. But it didn't stop me from having a fabulous time!

I always do the same. Although I'd often like to request something specific, I always try to keep it open in hopes that we can just get in our room right away when we get there. It's always great to be able to get in the room right away and get things situated.

I went on the People Mover for the first time last year and I loved it so much, so relaxing and good people watching.

Isn't that ride amazing?! It's at the very time of my list of favorites... obviously!

Before our trip last year, the last time I was at Disney I was around 12 years old I think- the experience I had at Disney as an Adult is SO different and more meaningful then when you are 12 and only want to go on the thrill rides!

It's such a different experience as an adult, isn't it?!

Just found your TR and I'm joining in! I love reading solo trips since I've taken a few myself.

Man, I love Pop Century but I haven't stayed there since 2010. I've actually had it booked two times since then but moved both of those trips to moderates thanks to free dining. I'm sure I'll get back to Pop someday!

Great timing to get to the resort and then onto a bus to Epcot. That's the beauty of being solo, you don't have to wait on anyone else!

Can't wait to see all the Flower and Garden stuff.

I work in a research library of a glass museum and love my job! I get to work with such cool things every single day. A few years ago we happened upon a letter written by Thomas Jefferson discussing glass windows – so cool!

At check-in, the JetBlue rep asked “You heading to Orlando?” and, knowing I had an obnoxiously obvious Mickey and Minnie shirt on, replied “what ever gave that away?”

I paused there long enough to dump my suitcase (I carted it myself rather than using DME luggage service in hopes of having a room ready so I could shuffle some things before heading to a park), change, sunscreen up, take a few pictures, and head out.

I was on a bus to Epcot by 12:30 and there was a song playing from the Grease soundtrack. Vacation has officially started!

First off, I hope you'll all forgive me as I've been ridiculously behind of many of your PTRs and TRs. Please know that I'm slowly but surely catching up and haven't forgotten about you! ​

Day 1, Part 2


So we left off with me rushing to get out of my room and over to Epcot because, as you may remember… today might be my first day at Disney but it was also the last day of F&G. I needed to make the most of it! Of all the things I packed in my new black zipper bag… the one thing I really brought along couldn’t fit in it: my appetite!

Woohoo! An Epcot bus!



You can't really tell from this picture, but the time stamp according to the bus was 12:35!



During the bus ride, I overheard an interesting conversation between three college girls discussing how, in 10 short years,
they’d be – to their complete and utter horrors – 30. Oh, ladies, I remember when I hit that number I thought I'd actually just drop over in disbelief. But it turns out my 30s are so much better than my 20s. I'm happy to be firmly planted in 'em. But... I decided they'd have to find out for themselves.

I soon arrived at Epcot!!!






Ahhh… that first brush with your first park of the trip is always so surreal – I’m REALLY HERE! Mary Ellen will absolutely appreciate my floating flower pot photos!





In fact, I love them so much I had to honor them with… that’s right… a selfie.

As I headed toward Mexico, I noticed one of the very talented face painters and thought of Billie (@Elevationist).



And then saw something else… a woman… in very high heels. Like, you-couldn't-pay-me-enough-to-wear-them-across-the-street high heels. Guys, for real, you just wouldn't believe these things. I love high heels, don't get me wrong, but to wear on an outing to Epcot?! It was really shocking the number of extraordinarily high heels I witnessed this trip. Almost never did I think by the rest of the party’s attire that they were heading to a really fancy ADR; it seemed, instead, that these women chose these shoes as their park shoes for the day. ​

Anyway… I had a specific destination in mind – Japan! So I stopped obsessing about the woman's high heels (she did look good, after all, so more power to her!) and headed that way.






So pretty!



I had my little heart set on the teriyaki bun and the frushi. I had decided before leaving for my trip that I was going to devote my Disney Visa reward dollars to my F&G eats and drinks. After all, I had purchased the DDP and wasn’t about to burn through all my snack credits on Day 1! So with a quick swipe of the card, I grabbed my plates and headed for a great spot with this amazing view.







The bun was absolutely amazing – sweet and just perfect.
And the frushi?!
Unbelievably yummy.

Believe it or not, I took my time and just enjoyed that my vacation was just starting. @pkondz - contain yourself! It's true!!!
I actually relaxed and I wasn't even a day into my trip yet! ​

... But... all good things must come to an end and after I couldn’t contain myself any longer, I headed off in search of my next destination.

Up next: more F&G eating and drinking! And a few other things here and there. But... who am I kidding... mostly just eating and drinking! ​

Those floating flowers are awesome!!! Isn't it funny eavesdropping on "kids" ie: 20 somethings'...conversations?? I agree though....some things get better with age...until they go downhill again lol...Can't wait to hear more about Epcot and what you ate
