From Cast Member to Annual Passholder! Updated 03/14/16

Love reading your report!! Looks like so much fun. I work at Starbucks and my former regional manager transferred down there a few years ago. Last I spoke with him, he said he was RM for the Disney starbucks too. Probably just the DTD ones though since they are the only company operated ones. Anyway I definitely enjoy following along with a fellow barista!! :D

Hi! I read your entire report yesterday! What an amazing thing to do--way to follow your dreams! We live in the Des Moines, IA area and are heading to the World in June to celebrate my daughter's HS graduation. I am looking forward to following your adventure!

I just found your report and got caught up it is so much fun reading about your experience. I cant wait to read more. I hope you are feeling better.

Hi - I just found your TR yesterday and am now all caught up. Congrats on getting hired as a Cast Member! You have had some fun adventures so far and I hope you continue to enjoy your role :) I started with the Walt Disney Travel Co in reservations (Disneyland) in December and absolutely love it <3 We started out full time with the training hours we got but now are part time (generally 25 hrs per week). You mentioned you were a full time Cast Member - are you still getting 40+ hours? My role is part-time but I expressed full-time (40+) which they hope we can get since we are supposed to be getting busier with the 60th Diamond Celebration coming up. I am still on cloud 9 knowing I work for the most amazing company ever. Hope you feel better soon!

Glad to hear you are feeling better, but definitely a bummer you didn't get to take advantage of your days off like you wanted - hopefully your week works out like you intend!

Just started to follow!! I'm living vicariously through you. I should of moves to Florida when I had the chance. My friend and I literally had things lined up and I chickened out. So mad at myself. Now I'm "old" with kids, and I don't think I can just pack up and leave lol. Maybe when I retire in 40 years.

Can't wait to hear more about your experience as a CM!

Sunday 3/15

So even though I was planning on going to Typhoon Lagoon my body had other ideas and decided to sleep in until 12:00 in the afternoon, so I must have needed the rest! I worked from 3pm-9pm and it was a very nice and easy shift. I have noticed when I have these shorter shifts I don't really get put onto hot or cold bar so I am mostly doing positions like dining room stocker, line greeter, cashier and busser. All of these positions are fine, I just don't think they pass the time as quickly! After my shift I hurried over to Magic Kingdom to ride watch Wishes and Celebrate the Magic...and most importantly to get this beauty...

I just had to buy this bracelet. I am just in love with the quote itself and now that the new movie has come out and I am in love with that...there was just no saying "no!" I guess they were flying off the shelves because a couple of places had sold out and Disneystore.com was sold out as well. I had initially wanted the silver, but I settled for the gold and I actually think it's quite stunning!

More pictures from the night:

I finally saw the grass and the Hub looks beautiful. I want to go back in the daytime to take pictures!

Monday 3/16
I worked from 10:15am-4:15pm and was cashier, line greeter, and pastry case. After work I decided to walk around the World Showcase until I got to the Park Exit by France so that I could walk to Hollywood Studios. I just felt like getting some serious walking in today and I talked to my dad for most of the time.

Few photos from Epcot:

I track my steps using the Breeze ap and it said I took 15,000 steps! Since I had to be up at 7:00am for work the next day I went home around 9pm and feel asleep quickly after that.

St Patricks Day! (Today!!)

Today I worked 8:15am-2:45pm. It was SOOO busy this morning when we first opened our doors. I was on register for 3 hours and it felt like 10 minutes. That's always the best! The rest of the day I was pasty case and line greeter so pretty easy! A few coworkers and I decided to go to Downtown Disney at Ragland Road to see what their party was like.

If I am being totally and completely honest it is not worth all of the hype. At least not for someone like me who lives in the area and can go anytime they want. There was a 10$ cover to go to the party (I think that's only they case on actual St. Patrick's Day. For the 10$ it just gives you unlimitied access to the party. You still have to buy a drink. It was a neat experience but not one that I feel like I have to do next year. They did have free face painting which we took advantage of!! We all ordered a One For The Road which had Captain Morgan White Rum and pineapple juice since it came with a cup. It was 10$ but it was pretty good!

It's been really nice to get to know my coworkers more and I am having a lot of fun with them!

Happy!

Never too old for facepainting!

enjoy the water parks - hope you feel better
Thanks!!

Glad you are loving my report!!! All of the Starbucks in the park or privately owned and operated. Anyone who works at the DTD location does not get the Disney perks!

Des Moines is where I moved from, small world :) Hope to see you in June! Definitely keep reading!

Glad you found me! Happy to meet a fellow cast member, and I am so glad to hear you are enjoying your role with Disneyland, it sounds wonderful! I am full-time and I am usually scheduled anywhere from 30-36 hours on average but I have a lot of opportunities to pick up shifts since I am also able to pick up merchandise. I have never been to Disneyland, but I bet it's beautiful especially with the Diamond Celebration!

Hope you are feeling better! Enjoy the parks this week.

And you're right, I loved Cinderella! :)

Feeling better, still stuffy but good enough to go park hopping!

I am so glad you loved Cinderella! I can't wait to see it again!

Enjoying the thread and follow you on IG as well!
Thank you!!!
Hope you're feeling better and were able to enjoy TL this morning :flower:
Thank you! Unfortunately I couldn't enjoy it but I will soon!

Glad you're here! I don't think there is an age limit to following your dreams, but I can understand why it was a scary thought to move here! Thank you for following along :)

Glad you are feeling better! And sad that the party was not as awesome as you expected, but DTD is always fun!

Also, I adore that bracelet :) I'm not usually a bracelet person, but I might could make an exception for Disney jewelry...

Love the new bracelet! I've been toying with the idea of getting myself some. I love subtle Disney jewelry.

Glad your feeling better! LOVE your bracelet!!! Big fan of the Alex and Ani bracelets!!! :)

I saw the Cinderella movie this past weekend with my DH & my DD. We all just loved it!!!

Great updates. I love that when you get off work you can just walk around WS. That's awesome!! I've never been to Raglan, I hope to next time.

I'm in love with your bracelet. Must. Have. And great to hear about Cinderella. DD and I are going this weekend and I think I might be slightly more excited than she is. :)

Just joined in last night and enjoyed this so much! What a fun adventure-- hard work I'm sure with moments that are less than "fun", but wow, you are working at DW!!! I would have loved to do this in my 20s! Thanks for sharing your experiences :)

I thought I would follow along on your journey. Your postings are refreshing in the sense that we read all the time about the DCP. We never hear about a FT CM. Its pretty fun and I hope that life is filled with magic and adventure every day. I look forward to your next update.
