Where are you going on vacation this year?

My 15 year old daughter and I are leaving on July 6th and not coming back until the end of August- we are driving around the US- taking the northern route across the top of the US from NY to WA, down through CA, Across the bottom through TX then cutting up through W. VA and home- its a trip we have talked about for 10 years and are finally going to do! Hitting as many states and seeing as much as we can in the 7-8 weeks we will be on the road.

Yes, it will be our second AI. We did our first one last year in Cozumel and were hooked. :) We've also done a couple cruises.
Great! Can you tell me some of the differences? What do you like about AI's?

I already took the kids to visit my mom in Florida last month.
Next month , DH is taking DS to Bradenton for Pirates spring training. One game in Bradenton on Saturday, sunday the game is at Wide World of Sports.

In May, DH and I are celebrating our 25 th anniversay in Negril Jamaica for 9 nights.
In June , DS is going to Europe for 10 days on a school trip.
When he returns, both DS and DD are going with my mom and stepdad on a month long RV tour of New England.

In August, we are all going to Canton to see Jerome Bettis be inducted into the Pro football hall of fame and all see the Hall of Fame game between the Steelers and Minnesota.

In November, we'll go somewhere for my birthday but not sure where yet.
As a Bettis fan, you may or may not appreciate this story. Many years back, Lou Holtz was a speaker at a conference I attended. He told a story on Bettis. Apparently, he called Holtz after the Rams traded him as he was really down about his career. Holtz basically told him he couldn't make excuses for bad blocking, he just had to be a better runner. The following year, Bettis was in the pro bowl.

Of course Bettis did struggle in STL, but I'm not sure Holtz ever gave enough credit to just how awful the mid 90's Rams offensive line was :)

DH is going to TN to visit his family in March.

In May the two of us are going to Sandals Whitehouse in Jamaica!

In June we're doing our annual camping/kayaking/fishing trip with friends (anywhere between 50-70 go).

In August I'm taking my mom and young adult kids to Florida for a Universal/SeaWorld vacation.

DH will probably go back to TN sometime in the fall to visit his family again.

What I loved about the AI was there was no feeling of having to *be* somewhere. On our cruises, we had to be at dinner at a certain time, we had to be at our muster station on time, on port days, we had to be off the boat early for excursions and our vacation was spent checking what time it was. Though we had a great time on our first cruise and the second was ok (much smaller boat), I much prefer an AI. We literally did nothing for five days but lay by the pool, swim, drink, eat and enjoy each other. ;) We were on our own schedule, not a boats, if that makes sense. :)

We are hitting WDW in 30 days (WOO HOO!). An 8 day relaxtion vacation.

In August we are going to Florida for 2 weeks - 3 nights on the Gulf, 3 nights at US, and then Beach Club for the first time ever...MAGICAL deal that gets it for cheap. Bought airfare yesterday!

We have the week between Christmas and NYE off and we were thinking of somewhere warm, but who knows. $$ and time. Might just rent a cabin somewhere and enjoy some family down time.

Marathon, FL and Key West for Spring Break. DD's choice as its her senior year but we've gone many times in the past ,so I was hoping she would choose somewhere different. DS1 is already planning his senior trip to WDW in three years with a couple friends (and their parents of course:earsboy::earsgirl:). One of his buddies has never been! Can you believe it?:confused3

Going to Key Largo and Islamorada in April with DD12. Would love some suggestions for tween friendly and fun activities. PM me if you have any to share please! She is an excellent snorkeler.

So... The Keys in late April followed by 4 days at Universal. Nashville or NOLA Memorial Day weekend with the girls. Glamping in July at Acadia State Park in Maine. Universal in October for long weekend. Possible WDW trip in December.

Started off the year with a trip to Disneyland. In June we go to the Coast and Victoria BC to whale watch and hike. July we are spending our main vacation going to Glacier NP and Banff. We start to watch the wildflower predictions, then head to Mt. Rainier in late July/early August. Then back to Disneyland for the D23 Expo in August.

We are going up north to Michigans UP this summer for a week. We rented a house, but will do lots of outdoor activities around Munising, Pictured Rocks, etc. My boys like to camp, but I prefer not to so this is our compromise.

I'm making that same compromise with my kids. We're "camping" our way around Michigan... all in cabins, mostly at KOA resorts with pools and hot tubs and such. That's as close to camping as I do.

My boys will be going to summer camp for a week in June and then to Glacier National Park with scouts for another week. So those weeks will be my vacation from cooking!

DH and I are going to Disney World for a week for food and wine. This will be our 20 year anniversary trip.
We rented a cabin at a small Mom and Pop resort right on the shores of Lake Superior in western UP, just outside the Porcupine Mountains. It was gorgeous and we had so much fun there. :)

We managed to sneak away for the 4 day Valentine weekend to San Antonio. Next, we have a quick trip in May for a family weekend in Michigan. After that my husband will be going over to see his "other wife" and we'll see where I go out and about. I travel often for work so time at home in my bed is a luxury lately.

Lots of fun trips on this thread. Hope everyone has a blast!

-We are heading to Universal Orlando and MK for spring break
-California (San Francisco down to San Diego) in the summer for two weeks- we are touring campuses for DS and throwing in some fun along the way.

That's all for now, other than some weekends here and there in state.

We did the opposite last summer SD to SF in 10 days. I think north to south will have the better views along the PCH. We had a blast! Our favorite stops were Santa Monica, Big Sur and Monterey. Loved the Big Sur Lodge restaurant for dinner and the Monterey Aquarium was gorgeous.

This weekend: quilting seminar near Monterey, California.

July: flying to Spokane and driving up through Glacier National Park and up to Banff and Jasper.

September: Granny Duty to welcome a new grand kid in Virginia.

I'm going on a cruise to Alaska with a couple of friends in June. Then at the end of July, going camping to Sequoia & Yosemite with my family. I'm looking forward to both trips.

We looked at the vacation fund and -- at last! -- we can afford to walk around the block!! Well, maybe. It depends on whether or not we can do without eating in March.

Lol! I thought I was the only one! Everyone has such great vacations planned - looked at my vacation fund and might only do half a block. Every time I have tried to plan something an unexpected expense happens! Washer went up, alternator in car died, root canal happened, and now a leak in the roof :furious:. So I feel it's just safe to not plan anything and maybe the bad karma will leave me alone for a while :worship:
