Hey all,
I am super paranoid I know that!! However with that being said we have our first Disney cruise booked for November followed by a week long WDW vacation. Family and friends are saying I should cancel the cruise and vacation due to the outbreak of Ebola. Is anyone else considering this?

you, your friends, and your family are all paranoid.

personally i'm not all that concerned.
just like i was not all that concerned about H1N1 (even though there were confirmed cases in my area) nor was i all that concerned about SARS (even though the big outbreak was just across lake ontario in toronto.

Try not to think about it and don't watch too much news! You can't live your life like that or you won't have any fun. Enjoy life, you never know when it will end!

This. Not worried at all.

If it starts spreading outside of west Africa beyond those who traveled from west Africa , caregivers, and close contacts of those who have it (i.e. immediate family members, roommates, family caregivers), then I'll worry.

Statistically you have a much greater chance of getting struck by lightning.....but neither ebola or lightning is good....:scared1:....Have a great cruise.

Do whatever is comfortable for you. Personally, I will not book any flights or cruise at this time. I will however, do WDW vacation.

Bless your heart- I know it's got to be hard to think about all of this in your anticipation for your trip. I'm with other posters- I'll worry when people start getting it when they don't know how they got it. Nurses caring for patients getting sick, while very unfortunate, is not alarming to me.

There are so many things out there- too many to really manage. Use Lysol wipes on the plane and have hand washing frequently on your trip... And most importantly have a blessed trip! You will enjoy being in the disney bubble :)

If you were planning on going to vacation or cruise in one of the countries that is really affected by this in Africa, then that would be cause for concern and would warrant a change of plans. Did an outbreak of Ebola break out in Florida/Bahamas/Caribbean? Going to Florida for a vacation when no reported cases of Ebola have been reported anywhere near their does not seem any more risky then me going out to dinner tonight in a crowded restaurant. If you are traveling next month, I would imagine that you are on one of the Caribbean or Bahamas cruises and unless cases start getting reported their before you leave, is the risk any different then you going anywhere else that does NOT have any cases reported.

We are going on the Med cruise next summer and one case was reported in Barcelona last month (Doctor returned from helping infected). 1 person out of 42.5 million people in Spain. While we are watching to make sure that an epidemic does not start in Barcelona, those kinds of numbers are not going to make us change our plans. Recommend you stop listening to so much of the news and get ready to enjoy your trip. Its your first cruise and you should go and have a great time.

Also this. I think the media has been way over the top with the whole Ebola thing. If you are going to be worried about catching something, worry about influenza.

Well I'm screwed. My house in Florida got hit by lightning...twice...in the same spot...3 years apart. :crazy2:

The problem here is that when the healthcare workers don't take the proper precautions it can also spread. That Dallas nurse? Turns out she may have had a fever BEFORE her trip and didn't tell anyone. So now that flags both flights. Just saw on the crawl in this morning's news that the CDC is monitoring a contact who is on a cruise ship.

Yes there are other things that are more contagious but the issue here is we don't know enough. There's conflicting reports on everything - from how it's spread to how to keep from getting it.

Nurse #1 had an opening at the neck of her suit. The neck. She didn't touch her eyes or anything else. She didn't have a huge cut on her neck. Yet she got it.

So which is it? Do we have nothing to worry about or do you need a fully-sealed hazmat suit?

Anyways, I'm not canceling my trip. But I highly encourage that folks keep their eyes open, lots of hand washing (which should be done anyhow) and just do normal things like change your clothes as soon as you get home, clean, etc. :)

Where does it say the passenger has symptoms? I'm not seeing this story on the news.
