We would also like to know more about the lobster roll, including where you puchased it.

Please advise (we're heading back to the BWI next week).

All the best. :thumbsup2

I'm sure this has been answered before, but does Big River Grille still not take dining reservations? I know Beaches and Cream is taking them now, but I haven't been able to find anything about Big River Grille. I was hoping for a late dinner there after we see Fantasmic. Fantasmic is at 7:00 so I'm thinking we would want to eat around 9:00.

We just came from BWV and Big River still does not take reservations. We ate there and the food was delish!

when we ate at Big River Grille a few years ago you could make a reservation by calling the restaurant directly instead of going through disney dining. maybe they still do this.

I'm glad the food was good :) Did you have to wait long for a table?

Its worth a try! Do you recall where you found the number?

okey dokey, I dug through my pile of notes and this is the number I have for Big River Grille:

407-560-0253. I admit I haven't tried it in a few years. I hope it helps.. I might try it myself for this april, but we might just "wing it" .

bu the way, a lot of peole report that T-rex at DTD had no openeing wthrough disney dining, but they actually save some reservations ofr phoning directly also.

another tidbit.. we once had a hard time getting reservations at Yak and yeti to fit in between and early lunch and enough time for hubby to have an after dinner smoke :worried::( before the next nemo show.

when we got there there were many empty tables. granted, some sections weren't open yet, but also they told us they keep back some rexervations from "disney dining" for walk ins.

I am not promising they still do this. just telling you what they tald us a couple years ago.

I'm glad you enjoy. I'm posting the majority in my trip report, but I'm trying to remember to add a unique Boardwalk picture here as well.

Please allow me to thank you as well!!
So appreciate your insight & photos! :thumbsup2

Now for that lobster roll...just wondering if it's included on the DDP.
Would it be a quick service meal? Our upcoming trip will be our first
time on the DDP. Not a problem if I need to buy one - it's on the top of my list. haha!

why, oh why? does Disney refuse to believe that many people prefer Sausage pizza to pepperoni pizza!!!?? lol

what is on the lobster roll besides lobster, lettuce and the roll? sauce? butter? anything? thanks!

Yes, cheese and pepperoni only at the pizza window. With Tratteria (sp?) opening at Kouzzina, I wonder if the pizza options will change. Lobster, lettuce, slight mayo (lobster roll not a lobster mayo salad like they used to have at Captain's Grill lunch), and another flavor I couldn't get. But, it doesn't overpower the lobster. I think it's 1/4 pound lobster meat.

Boardwalk Bakery only.

:thumbsup2 Even better with the link.

We don't do the DDP, so I'm not sure. This is our 2nd year getting it, and it was just as good as last year. Unfortunately, Earl of Sandwich reduced the size of their sandwich and the ones from there did not taste as good. I hope the lobster roll will stick around and remain as good for another year.

We are here too. The weather today was as picture perfect as it could ever be. One of the nicest days we've had in 14 years of being a DVC member. Quite busy this weekend though.

Wow, sounds great! WDW was definitely busy this past weekend. We had a cruise booked that we had to cancel, and out of curiosity I checked for staying for a long weekend instead, and there was nothing available on site. And I literally mean nothing!!

Lunch at the Boardwalk.

Boardwalk Pizza.

That looks good. The one time we got from the window, we got slices, and they were old and reheated and looked nothing like that!

Thank you so much for the phone number  I'll certainly give it a try!

Yes the lobster roll is on the Disney Dining Plan quick service. You can also get your choice of a dessert and they give you a bag of chips. They CM's will help guide you through your purchase with the dining plan, just ask them. You can also use 2 quick service entitlements at the Pizza window and get a whole pizza! We have always had great pizza there just like in the picture. :)

We would buy four slices, but at that price, for a little more, we just get the whole pizza. Then, you know it's fresh. And, a good snack for later in the day.

Thanks for the tip! That seems like a very good use of quick service credits! :thumbsup2

Thank you, mom poppins!! :goodvibes

I called the BWI on Saturday and they connected me to the "front desk" (we all know that it is not the real front desk of the hotel ;-)) and I asked about ongoing refurbishment because I am checking into the hotel on the 16th of October. She checked two lists which showed nothing and asked me if she can put me on hold to make sure she is not missing anything. When she came back she told me "The BWI is all clear". I told her that I don´t want to stay at a resort with ongoing room refurbishment (I had bad experiences with that at AKL once). FIngers crossed that she was telling the truth and that they are all done.
I think whatever "loose ends" they're tying up won't negatively impact your stay. If there is an unforeseen issue, don't hesitate to speak with a Guest Services Manager after checking-in. Will you be posting a TR?

Kook, I will post live! Since we are mainly just going to be enjoying the resorts, and all of our meals are at other resorts I will have time. Jim loves the Magic Kingdom, so we will visit that park after our breakfast at the Wave.
:thumbsup2

Can I ask what the renovations are that are going on at the Boardwalk and estimated completion date if known?

Thanks!
The only publicly announced/permitted work was a soft goods rehab of the rooms, but this was to have ended early last month. It seems some painting, etc… might still be going in the Garden Cottages and in some common areas like hallways. We're not sure if this is just some routine maintenance or an extension of the recent room rehab.

Glad you're having your best Disney weather ever.

Thank you for posting some yummy photos for everyone and will you post the link to your TR here?

That is one.great.rate! What DH wouldn't be thrilled?! How did you manage the discounted dining without a package?

Cast members are given discounted dinning when a 60% off rooms is offered. When dinning is added the reservation becomes a " package" and the same rules apply as general public packages. These rates are rare, especially the. Boardwalk Inn Club level. I figured it must be slow when we are going. This deal is from the cast appreciation holiday booklet. :cheer2::cool1:

I received a call today informing me that for my stay 10/24-11/1 BWI is undergoing refurbishment and they were asking me to be re-accomodated at YC. We are in a standard room/standard view, and I had already done online check in. The room they were offering at YC was a standard room so there was no perk or incentive to switch, so we declined. She confirmed it was a soft goods refurbishment.
So the refurbishment is ongoing, at least in some capacity.

We are going from 10/31 to 11/4; out TA got us reservations at big river grille on 11/2 for dinner

Hey guys! Sorry, need some more help. I asked a few weeks ago about online check-in and got some great advice. Thanks so much.

But now, as we approach two weeks out, I need to confirm a few things from folks with more BWI experience.

We made our reservations for the Standard Club Level. My understanding is that the view could be either the Boardwalk or Garden area for the Standard Club. Is that correct? We did request Boardwalk View, but I'm not sure what our options are if that is not available.

We also requested a King Bed instead of two queens. Does anyone know if a certain view increases the odds of a King Bed(more for Garden View than Boardwalk view)? We are trying to decide which is most important and if we need to prioritize our requests.

Finally, WDWKOOK mentioned something about contacting IPO with our requests. I'm new enough to Disney to not know what that means. Sorry! Could someone explain who IPO is and when is a good time to contact them? Does contacting them override requests made on our initial request?

Thanks for all the help. Just trying to make have done all we can do to get the best room for our trip!

That's interesting and thank you for posting. I'm glad they let you know before your arrival and gave you the option to move. I hope you have a great vacation.

I'll go in order:

A Standard CL room may have either a garden/pool/Epcot view or a Crescent Lake View.

I asked about the King CL rooms when I visited this summer and was told that there are "very few." I would put first whichever request is more important to you - king or view.

So you arrive in two weeks and you haven't yet been contacted by the Itinerary Planning Office (IPO)? They can be contacted anytime after booking via email or phone. They are actually located at the YC/BC and they should have emailed welcoming you and asking if there were any reservations/ADRs, etc... they could make for you. They are your pre-arrival POC. After arrival, the actual CL staff at the Innkeeper's Club will assist you. Any room location requests you make will be seen by the Room Assignor, whether called-in, via Online Check-in or by way of the IPO.

Hi All: I am new to this and have never stayed at BWI. I have read a lot of about but am still puzzled where to go to use our rapid refill mugs?

Also, for any BWI veterans out there... any good tips for us? Our first family trip there is just a little more than 2 weeks!! :woohoo:

Thank you
