Has anyone decorated their Magic Bands? Please show us the pictures!

Has anyone tried printing a photo on sticky mailing label to create a sticker? I can't find any villain tattoos or stickers in stores but did find pictures online and thought I could make my own sticker. I have an inkjet color printer at home but have access to a laser color printer at work. I'm thinking inkjet might smear if I try to put a base coat to seal it, like the sharpie does. But maybe a laser print homemade sticker would work???

My band isn't done yet, but DD and DH's are. Had a local friend do ours as I can hardly draw a stick figure! I contacted Justin on etsy, but we were afraid they wouldn't get back to us in time, and my DH wasn't real comfortable shipping them away! We went with a Halloween theme.

Any body know why I can't get the picture to be clear? Ugh!

If you click on "untitled" it is a clear picture.

I had a failed attempt using these instructions as well. I instead did TOP coat, let it dry, painted white on top of the dried top coat, let it dry, placed tattoo, let it dry, and then peeled it right off. Hope that helps!
I'm trying to get through all these posts (yikes!), so I'm still trying to figure out the plastic bag method. What kind of bag did you use - like a ziploc or grocery bag? And if I use your method, then do I trim the tattoo and adhere it to the band with nail polish?

I used a Ziploc Storage bag. I think a sandwich bag would have been too thin. And I painted the band with either nail base coat and while it was tacky I put the decal on. I trimmed as close as I could get.

Could you coat the sticker with contact paper or clear packing tape before attaching to the band? I haven't tried it, just an idea. Have people had success with clear polish over a regular sticker (I looked through the thread but couldn't find the answer)

General question: If I want to use a temp tattoo and glitter nail polish, do you all recommend putting the glitter polish on before or after the tattoo? I feel like one way you get a bumpy tattoo and the other way you get a glittery tattoo (maybe not so bad).

TIA!

Here are a few I decorated, but I still have more to go. I used nail polish, stick on embellishments & tattoos. I tried the plastic bag method but I kept messing it up. I found the Disney Frozen tattoos the hardest to use, they didn't stick right or they cracked. I finally just did a sponge paint effect behind the tattoos and I used glitter nail polish over them to hide the imperfections.

I painted my bands with base coat and nail polish, let them dry for 24 hpurs, and then tried to seal them with another layer of base coat - and everything smeared  What have people successfully used as a sealant, or should I just leave them alone?

I didn't use a base coat, just the color nail polish I wanted then I went over the top with sally hansen diamond shine base & top coat (in a silver bottle) or sally hansen extreme wear "disco ball" if I wanted a glitter shine & nothing smudged.

I had that happen with some of the nail polish colors (blue, purple, dark red) so I did more dabbing with the initial top coat of the base coat. Once you get that on you can do a second base coat and smooth out any roughness that would happen although it does self level for the most part. I think it's just part of the base coat properties and top coats won't do the same but seem to crack more easily.

Hi - Your bands look wonderful!!! Could you please give more detail of how you made the sticker and your process of applying it to the band? Thanks.

I printed the picture (downloaded and then resized to fit on the band) on an Avery mailing label using an inkjet printer; waited awhile to make sure ink was completely dry and put a coat of base nail polish on it, waited for it to dry and then cut it out. I put it on the pre-painted red/purple band, trimmed the sides of collar with an exacto knife and applied 2 more coats of base on it, giving it plenty of time to dry in between coats. I'm hopeful it will hold up!

Ok guys, clearly I'm doing something wrong! I put white nail polish on the plastic bag, then put the tattoo face down on the polish. When I peeled it off, I just got the clear tattoo with a couple spots of white! Plus, after you peal it off the bag, how do you get it to stick to the band??

I couldn't get the bag method to work either. I ended up guessing where the tattoo would be on the band, painting that area of the band with white polish, placing the tattoo and then touching up with color polish if I painted too much area white.

Thank you! I will try that!

Just curious did you wait for the white to dry before putting down the tattoo?
