Epcot Deluxe Resort

For our honeymoon, my fiancee and I originally wanted to stay at the Polynesian...it's actually been a dream of ours for a while... Well, unfortunately, our wedding/honeymoon is right smack in the middle of their construction period in 2015. I've heard very negative things about the lobby and I feel as if this would distract from our perfect honeymoon.

So, since Epcot is our favorite park and I proposed to her in World Showcase, I was thinking that maybe we should stay at Boardwalk, Yacht or Beach. I've been looking into it, but it's still such a hard decision to make. So what do you guys think? What's more romantic? Which of these have more amenities for couples?

I'd like to start looking into booking it asap and any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much!!!

We've stayed twice at the Poly, and once at the Beach Club. Our next vacation, at the end of July, will be at the Yacht Club.

We LOVED the Beach Club!! We loved the Epcot access, we loved the DHS access, we loved Stormalong Bay.

I would say that, as adults, you might want to take the Yacht Club, since it tends to attract fewer small kids than the Beach Club.

I don't think there are any amenities for couples.

None of the Epcot resorts has a spa (there's one close by at the Dolphin though) and I can't think of anything else they have that is strictly for couples.

There's a plethora of good restaurants around (you will have access to more good ones if you forego the dining plan because the Swan and Dolphin aren't included in the plan), and the Boardwalk has Atlantic Dance and Jellyrolls which are adult only for a night out. But they're easily accessed even if you stay across the lake at Beach/Yacht.

Any of the three Epcot resorts would be great. But I agree with the pp that the YC would have less kids at it. And all but one room has a full balcony. The BWI is beautiful, too, and you can't go wrong if you choose this one. Our favorite one is the BC since it is so close to Epcot and the Marketplace is there.

Ship Shape has some spa services, but if you want a full service spa that may have specific options for couples, you will still need to go to the Dolphin.

Dh and I always stay in a one-bedroom villa at the Boardwalk Villas. We like that BWV is an easy walk to Epcot and an easy walk to DHS. We like the one-bedrooms villas as we are guaranteed a king bed, a jetted tub, a full kitchen and a balcony. We think the Rose Garden pool at the Boardwalk is a particularly nice pool for quiet relaxation. There is a gym and some spa services available -- massages and not sure what else.

Garden Suite at BWI if you're looking to really splurge.

Otherwise, YC, b/c of its reputation for being the most "quiet" :cloud9:

Congratulations and best wishes :wizard:

As an adult who visits WDW with no kids, I lean most towards BWI out of the ones you've mentioned. While YC has less kids than BC most likely, they both share Stormalong Bay which can get pretty crowded. In addition, BWI has Jellyrolls which can be a fun night out and we also like to pop in ESPN Club for a few drinks. And it's the closest if you want to walk to DHS.

I am in the same boat this year, as I had booked WL for our honeymoon in October, only to learn of the pool being closed for construction. I had proposed to my fiance at WL, so this stay definitely had special meaning to us. To avoid the construction, I ended up moving to BLT.

Regarding your decision, if I were you, I would be booking YC. I think it is the most quiet of the three EPCOT area resorts, so it may feel a little more romantic and secluded than the others. At the same time, you are only a short walk away from the hustle and bustle of the Boardwalk and all that it has to offer. Tons of good restaurants right at your disposal, not to mention the back entrance to WS (more restaurants, shopping, drinks, etc.). You can't really go wrong with any of the three, and most of this comes down to personal preference. I think you would be making a wise move to pass on the Poly given all of the construction.

The Poly is our favorite, so I understand your quandary.

We choose YC for our EPCOT stay in 2012 as they have more patios and full balconies VS BC. A balcony or patio is a must for us. We ended up with an awesome water view room, 1st floor with a big patio. We could watch the high fireworks at EPCOT every night.

Staying at YC you are close to the BW area, EPCOT and the boat launch is right there.
It was quiet at YC, even in August. SAB was very crowded as it was SO hot and humid.

We are trying BWI this Oct as we want to see what it has to offer. I think any of the EPCOT resorts are a good choice.

If you can splurge a bit, Club Level deluxe room at BC or Garden suite room at BW.
If you want to stay reasonable (which is what we do and no less of a trip!), BC all the way. The pool options are awesome. The views over to the boardwalk and lagoon are to die for especially at night.
I love the BC restaurants. Beaches n Cream is adorable. Your girl would love it. Its very bright feeling, clean, fresh. We love walking into Epcot from there. Its very peaceful.
As far as YC I don't care for the interior as much as BC, but the Yachtsman Steakhouse is a MUST if you are there. Very nice experience. High quality steakhouse, similar to NY quality.

Thanks for all your responses!! We are definitely going to use a lot of these points in our decision making. Being that it is our honeymoon, I am definitely willing to splurge a little more than usual...but we shall see...

Thanks again, everyone!

We stayed at the Yacht Club with our 10 and 15 year old. The resort is restful and tastefully done. We loved how quiet it was. And to be honest, we rarely saw kids other than our own! Even my kids commented on how peaceful it was. Stormalong Bay was wonderful and the only guests allowed in there were from the Beach Club or the Yacht Club. We were told that the Beach Club is similar to the Yacht Club but has "more energy." Not sure exactly what that meant but we assumed it has all the same amenities but a livelier clientele? :confused3 Either way, we liked the Yacht Club because it was nice to come back to a quiet resort where we felt we were at the resort rather than a continuation of the business of the parks.

I have stayed in a garden suite once. (Unexpected upgrade). Definitely a great place for a couple. Your view is somewhat limited but having a two story suite is sweet (sorry). You are also a little bit isolated as you are in an inner courtyard at BWI but you have a separate entry door and your own yard gate, mailbox and welcome mat. Definitely a different on-site resort experience I would recommend. It also gives you access to the club level amenities.

I would stay away from Boardwalk, unless you do one of the garden suites mentioned above. I just don't find it to be very romantic. . YC is quiet, but my husband and I have stayed twice without our kid at BC, and it is our favorite Epcot resort. I just love the theme. Plus, all the rooms are being renovated, so you may be able to get a "new" room. I think you'll be happy with either hotel. However, I think you cannot go wrong with either YC or BC. Our lake view room at BC has been my favorite view to date at WDW.

If you want an amazing spa, go to Senses at the GF. It's rated one of the top spas in Orlando, and was written up in Conde Nast. Congratulations!!!!

The YC is one of my favorites, I love the view of the boardwalk. But, BWI has some hot tubs in the courtyard that just felt secluded and romantic. So I would choose there!

Yacht and Beach Club is our DVC home. There is Ship Shape Health Club where you can get massages, facials and salon services. There are several quiet pools. There are Yachtsman Steakhouse, Cape May, Captain's Grille for dinner, and several lounges for drinks. If you get the right room you can stand on your balcony and see Illuminations fireworks from EPCOT and even see the fireworks from Hollywood Studios!!!

I've stayed all over property. Poly was our worst experience to date. Of course we did find out that was because the building we were in was the last to be renovated and instead of renovating it they push it off to do the work at the same time as the DVC expansion. Also the resort staff was super grumpy but that could have just been an off week especially because I was later informed by friends who work in the hotels that a new system had just launched and was causing headaches and crankiness from the hotel staff.

On the other hand we just got back from a Yacht Club stay and it was hands down one of our best experiences. We had a club level room and I say it is so worth the extra money. Every morning we grabbed water for the day. They weren't dinky bottles either but full sized. We also would grab some pastries etc to tide us over on the way to our morning breakfast reservation. When we didn't have reservations we just ate there. There was cereal, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, bagels, croissants and other pastries. Our first two days we had mid-day breaks planned so we grabbed more water, sodas and snacks from the lounge. On top of that at dinner time and after (until 10pm) they had beer, wine, after dinner ports and liqueurs and small hors d'oeuvres which were all yummy. If anything you loved was gone or out of the time window you could ask for more. Many times the guys in our party would grab some beers to have on the balcony later that night.
