EXPIRED: Part ONE of 2015 CLUB LEVEL (CL) INFORMATION and HELP Thread DO NOT POST HERE!!!

It was the same picture posted 2 different ways cause I wasn't sure which way would work. I just edited it to a different way -- hope it works.

Hi! We're doing a split stay YC then to GF SL CL. We are planning on leaving our bags with Bell services to bring over to GF after we check out of YC. My question is this: If we go from YC straight to MK to do a few rides and then head to GF, do we just go from the monorail to the regular check in desk??? Will they then call a CM to let them know that a CL guest is checking in?? Our only other experience CL was BC, and at that time we arrived by car, so as soon as we pulled up a CM was right there, calling out our name, giving us the wonderful news that we had been upgraded to CL and then walked us up to the special check in desk on the 5th floor. Are we really missing out if we just "walk in the building to tell them we're there?" I know we could just Cab it with our things straight to GF, but it will only be about 10:30am, so I figured we'd hit MK first for a few hours and go to GF around late lunch. (1:30-2:30pm ish)
What do you think? How have you handled split stay check ins CL?
Thanks!

Yes, you would go to the front desk and tell the CM you are checking in. Once the CM pulls up your reservation, he/she will see you are staying CL. Usually CL guests are checked in by CL CMs in the lounge, so the CM might call someone from SL to come get you and check you in; however, depending on how busy it is, the front desk CM might just do your check in right there.

Yes we did GV since the view from lounge is lovely and I enjoy that space. The TPV I had last year was nice when it was dh and I (private compared to being in lounge) however dd and I like being in the lounges:goodvibes

I was originally going to do non CL but in the end it was only like $83 a day to add the CL after someone posted a 20% off of orbitz and it was already at30%.

Yeah, right now it's only 15%, but still... :-)

Sooooooo.....do we have a better chance of getting checked in to CL in SL if we take a Cab? Rather than take the monorail after MK? If we get checked in at main counter, we will never have anyone show us around the lounge at SL or see us to our room?? Front desk in main bldg will just do a regular check in and then we just walk to SL?? Doesn't seem very CL ish.......

I'm not sure about GF, but our CL check-in experiences have varied significantly. Best was probably once a few years ago at BC when we stepped off Magical Express and a CM was right there at the bus to greet us and take us up to the lounge.

But most of the time, we have to find someone out at the curb or in the lobby to take us to CL. Sometimes we have to wait a bit, but we've always been able to check in at the CL desk, which is helpful to us because we have three kids and they are usually hungry upon arrival. So it's nice to check in at the CL desk and let them head to the lounge. At Poly earlier this month, we drove in, gave our names at the guard stand and I specifically told them we had a CL reservation. When we dropped our car at valet, the CM looked up our reservation and then led us to the front desk. I asked if we should head back to Hawaii instead, and he looked at the reservation again and led us back there. At BWI in February, we arrived via cab, found a CM in the lobby and offered to just go up to the 4th floor (since the floor is not keyed and I could just talk with the CM at the CL desk) but the CM in the lobby wanted for us to wait and be escorted up there.

I'd say overall, our best experiences are when arriving via magical express - they know where you are! I assumed second best would be by own car or cab, and last would be walking in from the parks (because they wouldn't know to expect us at that specific time.) But at least for us, there hasn't been a difference between cab, own car and just walking in from the parks.

Unless you email IPO with your approximate arrival time or fill out the forms they send you prior to your arrival, they have no way of knowing when you will be arriving as your way of transportation has no bearing on whether or not a CL CM will be waiting to greet you. If you haven't received a welcome letter with forms attached, you could email IPO and let them know what your approximate time will be. If you do get checked in at the front desk rather than in SL, you could always request to have a CM take you to SL.

Thanks Pixarmom. I guess our chances are pretty much the same whether we Cab it or take the monorail after MK. We'll probably take the monorail and send luggage with bell services from YC as we initially planned. We'll just have to hope that around 1:30pm CL SL will be able to let us check in there. A cool drink and to sit down while checking in would be sooooo nice! :)

Just wanted to pop on and say hi! :wave2: After a ton of adjusting our summer trip, we just finalized our plans for this summer, which includes three different CL stays at BWI (second time), Poly (second time) and YC (first time CL, third time at the resort). We'll be staying at all of those resorts on cash reservations for two nights each. Our other nights are booked on our points at three other DVC properties, but, sadly, not CL. We will miss the lounge and our morning breakfasts those days!

(And yes, we are split stay lunatics. Although this trip isn't as crazy as our last, which was three nights at three different resorts, this trip is turning out to be epic with six different resorts booked over our 16 day trip! We can't wait! :thumbsup2)

WOW! That's a LOT! I'm jealous :rolleyes1

Just sitting here thinking..........IPO does ADRs at 180 days for CL guests...........has anyone asked about doing fastpass+? Wonder what the answer would be? Just curious.

Another suggestion: take the boat from MK, walk to the front hotel entrance instead of going into the lobby. There are usually cast members hanging around the front entrance to greet guests, tell 1 of them you are checking in club level & they should escort you there.

Thanks for the suggestion. Is there a path that leads around to the front of the bldg? Or, just cut through the lobby? I think whether we take the monorail or a boat will just depend on which one looks like less time. We have a tween, so he'll be so excited to get there!

Hi mickeynut,
I did fill in our approximate arrival time 1:30-2:30. There wasn't a box to check regarding our disney mode of transportation , but I did type a note to let them know of our checking out of YC, having bags sent over, arriving after MK etc. I just wasn't sure of how much they actually make note of in their system. I have all of our 3 celebrations noted as well, but when I was on the phone with iPo getting ressie help, she made 2 ressies for us, but never mentioned adding the celebrations to our dining ADR's. I'll have to call back and make sure they get added . That's the whole idea behind our trip and staying CL GF. My 40th, Tweens 11 and hubby and my 14th anniversary. So excited ! Want to spread the magic out the whole trip long !

Sounds like a good plan! Like mickeynut said, it's a good idea to e-mail IPO and let them know when/how you'll arrive. I do this every time, just in case it helps, and at least I've let them know! We've arrived for check-in as early as 7am when transferring from another resort, and we always ask to go right to the lounge for breakfast. It may take a few minutes for them to find someone to take you over there, but they always do!

We've done lots of split stays where we transfer from one resort to the next by monorail or by boat and don't get dropped off where most resort guests come in from. Our first place to "check in" is at the curb by looking for a CL greeter rather than going and standing in line at the main desk. This has worked for us almost every time as there is usually at least one CL greeter outside. If not, the one time there wasn't, we asked bell services at the curb, and they directed to us to the main desk, so we just looked for a short line and they called for a CL staff member to come and greet us and escort us back to the CL desk to check in.

We were greeted by a CL greeter when we were upgraded to CL at the BC in 2012. But when we booked BWI CL last year we had to tell the person standing outside with the tablet who we were and that we were CL. She had to call upstairs and talk to someone first. Then she escorted us upstairs. No biggie, but it took a lot of the magic out of it for us.

We emailed IPO last year and filled out the form and told them exactly when we were arriving which was 9:15 AM on the ME bus. I don't know why the BC knew exactly when we were arriving and the BWI did not. I thought that they got word through their system from ME when people staying CL arrive.:confused3

I haven't emailed IPO yet for this years GF CL trip because we don't need them to do anything for us. Should I email them to just let them know the time of our arrival or is that just a waste of everyone's time? Sure would love to be greeted at the curb again.:goodvibes
