10/20/2013 Disney Magic Miami Double Dip

They released VGT & OGT rates for our cruise, so I decided to do the math, as I've done both times VGT rates have been released on my cruise. The difference in fare is $116 & some change. Once you remove the $100 OBC (my rebooking OBC), that takes the savings down to $16 & change, and I go wherever DCL puts me stateroom-wise.

Yeah. $16 savings isn't enough for me to not choose my room ;)

Booking early still wins ;)

I noticed the same thing. Rates seems cheap but they are actually very close to the prices over a year ago with OBB. And we have 3 rooms in a row with 2 connecting so definitely not worth $16 to change.

We got such a ridiculously good deal, the likes of which have never happened before and will likely never happen again. I am definitely a fan of team "book early"! But it's nice to see the price drops, I thought we'd be packed in like sardines for this sailing.

I have asked my TA this, but I thought I would ask here and get opinions. We booked an ocean view in Mid-June when prices had gone up a few times (My next cruise I will remember the advice of Team "book early"!) Booking a VGT now it would be priced $510 less than what I paid. I know that there is a penalty for canceling now, but I am wondering if it would be worth it. Thoughts and opinions? I am not sure if I got an OBC or not, so I didn’t figure that in.

You lose your deposit. If your deposit was over $510 savings, not worth it.

FYI - Someone told Scott she's out of drydock on Oct 10th. That means she'll more than likely head out for sea trials before she heads back. I had guessed Oct 11 so I was pretty close!

Just over 3 weeks.....getting closer.....I finally finished the last "required" planning. I booked my transportation to & from the port!! Now on to the door magnets & packing!!!!
:cheer2:

*sigh* I just thought I would come over and say hello. My new cruise meet thread is dead in the water. (And it's the Dream sailing leaving on Super Bowl Sunday...go figure!)

Oh, Cindy. Too bad about the cruise but think of all the excitement of the wedding and planning, etc. You were very nice to us. Many thanks for that. We will toast you on the ship. Maybe some day again we will meet.
Have a great birthday cruise and early happy b'day to you.
Bye for now,
Gerry & Jack

Thanks! I'm bummed about missing you all...I was looking forward to meeting so many of you. Life happens. Enjoy your sailing and I expect full reports and lots of photos from all of you upon your return!

Okay folks, I am really starting to panic a bit here. I am one to follow the rules for the main dining room. My main concern is shoes. We don't really own any other shoes than tennis shoes, sandals and flip flops. The church we attend is a come as you are.

I personally don't own any dress shoes due to foot problems I have. I wear mostly Birkenstocks and tennis shoes. So any suggestions?

I do have a couple of dresses so covered there. With those dresses I normally just wear my Birkenstocks. I don't want to break any rules.

You can wear a nice pair of sandals, I'd just avoid the birks and the flips, personally. Even most women's dress shoes now days are not fully "closed-toe". Most of my shoes for dinner are more like dressy sandals than they are like pumps.

I have been looking for sandals all summer. It also hasn't helped that I had to have surgery on my left Achilles tendon and have only been out of a cast/boot for a couple of weeks.

So I have been scrounging sale racks, TJMaxx for a size 11 sandal.

Keep your fingers crossed that I find something.

Just sent a request to join the Facebook group! WE've done the double dip before and love this itinerary! See everyone in just over two weeks!

Okay, I have a few questions about tipping so I can work out how much actual cash I need.

1. When tipping room service, do I need one's or can I sign off on the tip? I've read conflicting stuff. I don't want to carry a big wad of one's, but I don't want to stiff anyone a tip either.

2. Does Nassau accept American money or do we need get to exchange? I assume we need cash for there.

3. What about Palo? When you tip, can you sign off on the KTTW card or do I need cash?

4. Anything else I need actual cash for?

Hello Everyone,

My name is D'Yanna. I just booked this cruise yesterday. I'll be traveling alone with my 9 year old daughter Jaiden. I just wanted to introduce myself and hopefully we can meet some new friends. We're not interested in any Fish Extenders or anything, I just wanted to say hello.

Welcome, to you and Jaiden! Did you take advantage of one of the guarantees? :)
