Wow. I think some of you need to google the definition of the word "rumor" and read it carefully. As for me and most of us, my trip was booked months ago, it's almost paid off and FD offer or not, I'm headed to the happiest place on earth come November! Woo hoo!

My thoughts exactly. We booked in January, definitely nothing about FD then, & will still go, with or without.

Listen Sunset, he might have ruined it for everyone by spreading this rumor. Did you read the rumors on the other boards? People booked like mad hoping for FD and Disney cancelled FD. There was no longer a need for it. So it hurt didn't help. Go for it. I've been called worse.

The problem is TA's are saying that it was supposed to be offered but was cancelled. So, this rumor had everyone booking banking on FD and Disney saw that the rooms were being booked up and no longer needed to extend FD.

This rumor hurt more then helped. I just took my Xanax so I should be better soon.

The TAs are likely saying that as a CYA move. They look bad when they rely on rumors and have incorrect information. They probably think it better to say Disney changed their minds than they (the TAs) gave out incorrect information. Just to reiterate, the rumored information from Joe was really for 8/1 Free Dining.

Joe simply said it was likely to be released to DV holders earlier. He didn't even claim today was part of the rumor. He plainly speculated that it was likely but no information given. So some people are angry based off of information speculated about in a rumor posted on the internet. Not only that, but the rumored date isn't even here yet.

I still appreciate the heads up for 8/1. Even if Disney changes their minds, I am glad Joe let us know about the rumored dates. Just the dropping of the first week of December from the PIN is valuable information. It lets us know that the bookings are higher than normal and there may not be as many discounts.

Just curious...what TAs are saying this? I am one (I know not to post where or anything) and we NEVER received anything official from Disney. I only knew about this rumor from the boards and some clients who are also on here. I am just curious as to why any TAs would put themselves out there and then have to reel it all back in based on something that was not 100% "show ready".

With that said, here's hoping 8/1 does produce something for everyone.

I wasn't counting on FD - in fact I was one of the few who was publicly doubting the info. And I got PMs from three different people who were insistent that Black is The Real Deal.

It's all fine and good to lay blame at the feet of the people who booked the offers. But no one was saying to be cautious when people were changing all their ADRs. No one was warning it was just a rumour when people posted about crying their eyes out and being unable to sleep because their dates didn't match the "leaked" dates. What a win-win situation to be the hero if you're right and take no mud if you're wrong.

Morning, everyone. I have been reading posts for the last 30 minutes trying to think of something comforting to say to all of you, but I'm coming up kinda empty. As has been mentioned by many, DV offers are assumed, not guaranteed. It has happened this way before. It saddens me to read some of the truly hateful remarks in this thread, but it warms my heart that so many of you are standing up for Joe and the others who have tried to help. We have ALWAYS said that no plans should be altered before the official release. Even if it isn't released this week doesn't mean it isn't coming. There are always Fall offers. I know everyone is disappointed. I am too. I got up 3 hours early to be excited for all of you, but now I'm just sad. Sad for all the disappointed people and sad that people can be so mean. Still have my fingers crossed for all of you to get something this week.

I have been around these boards for a long time and this is the first time a leaked rumor wasn't spot on. I have saved thousands thanks to these boards and learned more than I could have anywhere else. It is thanks to people like you smitch, who take the time to answer questions, so Thank You.

For the poster that reported a CM said they pulled the discount - NO WAY would a Disney employee be authorized to say that (not saying that your CM didn't say that to you- just saying you shouldn't put a lot of stock in a comment like that).

Well perhaps the TA's that were encouraging people to book before the offer came out to secure their rooms should be to blame, if there in fact was a FD offer that was pulled.

I never did understand why people would book unless they are happy to pay the full package price. If rooms are full, why would Disney need to offer a discount?

I don't think black every said, "hey everyone book now".

I'm not going in the fall, but have been watching for friends who are. Canadians can't get the DV anyways, so I'm still hoping for pixie dust for them (and everyone else!) for Aug. 1. I'm sure something will come out, I just hope it's not scaled back dates because of people booking ahead of time.
