Hey Danny25

One other thing to be aware of with a split stay is that in order to qualify for a FD offer the entire package (including park passes) must be purchased. If you want to go to the parks for the first day or two of a stay, before a FD offer you'll need to purchase passes for that.

Then, when the FD offer becomes effective you'll need to purchase new passes thus paying the premium price of Days 1, 2 and 3 again.

I've had this happen in the past so chose the first 2 days of my stay to go without park passes and used the time to visit Downtown Disney, water park, etc. and then to begin going to the parks the second part of our split stay.

Just something to keep in mind for those who may be affected by a split stay if a FD offer comes out.

(If the information above is unclear or incorrect, please let me know. It's just how I understand it to be.)

This is not true either though. Correct me if I am wrong, but you can book the tickets as part of your package for FD and just pick them up early. You don't need to book two separate tix.

I just want to say THANK YOU to those of you who know so much more then your average mouseketeer and choose to share it. It really is insightful.

I want to caution everyone to never ever make any changes in plans until Disney themselves makes something official. Until they do, they can always pull back a promo or change dates at the last minute and nobody knows what's in their mind but them.

I'd hate to see someone get backed into a corner based upon information received here, no matter how reliable it may be. Even the most reliable information is subject to change, stranger things have happened.

Happy thoughts!!!
I totally agree with this disclaimer. I spun myself in circles trying to decide if I should upgrade to a different resort since they may get the better deal. Or change my dates since my original dates may be blacked out. In the end I picked where I want to be when it works best for me to be there. I keep all these tips in the back of my mind and hope for the best that a discount comes our way.

UGH. It's looking like we won't be covered under any promo this year. Planning to go 8/11 - 8/24. Not looking good for us. I'm thinking we need a change in plans. We used to love spending our whole vacation at disney but I'm not going to pay rack rate to go during hot, humid, hurricane season. It would have been cheaper for us to go earlier in the summer and take advantage of a promo than to wait for value hurricane season! Now I need to decide whether to do all disney but stay offsite or maybe stay onsite but only for 5 nights or so and then find other things to do in Florida. I really wish they would just tell us already so I can make my plans.

Oh you'll be fine. I waited three days and still got what I wanted.

And all my dining is already booked as well. No problems there either.

Just the same I will feel better to just get it done :) I have been reading this thread and say thanks for all the info you and others have posted :thumbsup2

I must've had it backwards then. Is it that if the promo ends on the 20th and you are booked from the 20th to the 27th that you could get free dining through the whole trip?

Also, are free dining promos available to AP holders?

Now you have it right. And you must buy at least a two day ticket to qualify. So sure you can get it with an AP, you'll just have an added expense.

Yes the added expense but you could use those tickets toward renewal of your AP's during your trip or at a later date. Look at it as an investment in your AP renewal and your not looking at an added expense.

If I book the package with tickets and then convert to an AP what happens to my FD?

Is it common for it to just be a single week or so a season where no discount is offered?

Is this correct? If I have 2 packages booked and the tickets are on the second package, can I pick them up 2 days before my second package begins and use them then?

That's great if it works this way. I thought I'd heard in the past that it was not always true that tickets could be used prior to the official start date of a package. Has anyone tried this recently? Were you successful?

Thanks!

I've heard of people who have done this before, but I don't know how recently. I don't see how Disney can withhold your passes if you have paid for them already. :)

You can pick up package tickets at a GS location 3 days before arrival. But I don't know how you'd have 2 packages without having 2 sets of tickets... did you mean your first reservation is a room only?

There have been reports recently of people being denied the ability to pick up the tickets early. They're part of a package that starts on a particular day, so they have the right to do so... but I think those situations are few and far between.

What is a GS location?

Thanks!

So just to clarify: Suppose I have a room only ressie for 3 days, then for the rest of my vacation I have a package that includes passes and FD, because FD begins in the middle of my vacation. Is it possible that I might not be able to pick up my passes early, at the beginning of my vacation?

No, just go to any of the Guest Services locations at any of the parks or Downtown Disney and you can pick up your package tickets up to 3 days early.

Hellooooooo my friend and welcome to the Haunted Mansion, opssss, sorry, thank you for your preference over the others 24 Dannys :rotfl2:,now talking seriously, like my friend BLACK562 have answered to you, your dates are excluded from the fall offer sorry about that, but you must plan your vacation always around August 26 to catch that wave of discounts, your dates are in the middle of 2 offers and I afraid that you can´t get any discount to your dates. If you will pay rack rate you can rent points at a DVC and stay for the price of a value in a deluxe style resort, or check the prices at one of the downtown disney area resorts.
Like always don´t forget that you will be at DISNEYWORLD and with or without discounts you will have the most magical vacation on Earth, ok

That's not exactly accurate. You can't really rent points at a deluxe villa resort for the price of a value resort - and certainly aren't going to get that kind of deal trying to rent DVC points for mid August this late in the game, it's the end of March.

Okay thanks for quick reply.. Can't decide between LM room or one of the port Orleans resorts...

What about October? Any way to tell yet?

There's about 0% chance of seeing any discounts for the Little Mermaid rooms at AOA. The suites will most likely be included in the the round of discounts, but don't look for those standard LM rooms to be included.

Is this going to be room only or free dining like the bounceback? Room only doesn't save me enough to switch my reservation but free dining is usually good for any day in the stay regardless of when you arrive, so if it starts on the 20th and we arrive on the 18th it's good for the whole trip. If FD is offered and the AoA suites are eligible I'd gladly switch my room to a suite instead of an LM room. Room only doesn't save me much and likely wouldn't be covered for the majority of my stay anyways.

I'm going regardless but saving money is always welcome. We're locked into our dates due to school starting for DD1 in late August and some cheap airfare so not much flexibility unfortunately. We can't wait.

The Little Mermaid rooms have been blacked out for virtually all general public discounts and I don't see that changing anytime soon - little to no chance of that happening.
