After my delicious cupcake breakfast, I took a boat to MK for some park time. I decided to take a flight on Dumbo (mainly to get construction pics of New Fantasyland
).
I like how this pic shows all three 'princess peaks' of the expansion. On the right is Prince Eric's Castle, in the center is Beast's Castle (where many of us are hoping to have a meal eventually
), and on the left is the cottage from Snow White (although I guess it's just steel for now
).
I'm excited that MK will soon have a Little Mermaid ride, since Ariel is my favorite princess (yes, I have a favorite princess - in fact, last year some of my friends and I had a debate over whether Ariel or Belle was better
).
And of course, I can't wait to read reviews of Be Our Guest! Less than 2 months to go until opening night
There's also some construction happening on the western side of Fantasyland, where the Skyway Station used to be. I've read that new restrooms are being constructed here, and that the restrooms are receiving detailed theming based on "Tangled". It's not an attraction, but it's something...I guess.
From MK, I headed over to CR to have lunch at The Wave. The host mentioned that I could take a seat at the bar, which sounded like a fun idea.
Here was the view from my seat when I looked left:
I decided to try something that's become a classic lunch entree here: the bison burger with salsa verde and three cheese spread, served with pearl couscous salad (roasted potato wedges were the other side option).
This was a great lunch. Bison tastes just like beef to me, but I appreciate that bison is slightly leaner. The cheese spread and salsa verde added a refreshing flavor of garlic and basil, while the fresh lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickle are classic accompaniments. The bun was soft and light - it might have been whole wheat, but it tasted like white bread to me. Finally, the couscous salad had a nice amount of sweetness and acidity - plus, it contained parsley, which is a huge plus IMO.
Once again, I really enjoyed my lunch at The Wave. The food here is creative and incorporates a variety of local and seasonal ingredients (which is unique for a non-signature WDW restaurant). Plus, the bar area has a nicer atmosphere than the dining room, with its cooler color scheme and sleek design. I look forward to returning here soon, and I can't wait to hear about the seasonal menu changes.
P.S. Earlier I reviewed The Wave's lunch buffet that took place on August 20th. Apparently the lunch buffet has been discontinued, but I heard it might start up again occasionally (depending on how much convention activity is going on at CR). Personally, I enjoyed the lunch buffet and thought it was a good value, but I also really enjoy the unique à la carte dishes that The Wave offers. As long as The Wave stays open for lunch (which seems to be less busy than breakfast and dinner), I plan on returning here relatively often.
