Tomorrowland Speedway?

Who's with me that this ride needs to be laid to rest. It's almost embarrassing.

I don't know that I'd like to see the ride removed. But I would really like to see them switch to electric powered cars.

I'd disagree. Not because it's such a great attraction, but rather that it tunes into a great childhood fantasy -being able to drive a car. Sure, for a teen/adult it's a big, somewhat loud, and possibly unsightly attraction. ....but for a child it can be quite exciting. I remember loving the idea(and that goes back quite a ways) and my children were always begging to ride.

This has got to be one of the worst line queue's in WDW, IMO. It's so hot & totally miserable, so of course our kids LOVE this ride, lol!

I think there is a tremendous opportunity to theme this around the Cars movie. I know its in Tomorrowland but I still think it would be a good change. I also agree on changing the cars over to electric or something more efficient and more environmentally friendly.

It would be nice to see them update it a little, but now that our youngest is cleared to drive solo she loves the idea of driving herself around. Last year they let her drive the track solo nonstop from midnight to 12:30am as they put up all the other cars and had already shut down the ride to more guests since the park was closing. We had already ridden a few times in a row due to no line and they asked her if she wanted to stay and drive until they had to leave. Of course she was in heaven... some of the CMs even went out to 'race' her a little too... definitely a great memory.

I don't personally like it, but many kids LOVE it. They want to ride it over and over. For some, it is their favorite thing in the MK.

Knowing how much kids like it, I could never vote for its retirement.

Excellent idea. Would make a difference with noise and heat. In addition, children are being taught the importance of taking care of the environment, and that change would reinforce this.

True to all you have said. An update for sure. The cars are dreadfully stinky. You can smell the exhaust just walking by it. I know my experiences on it were never good but I was a little older. I'm just saying there are far more fun go carts in places like gatlinburg. I want to see something more Disney with those cars. Fun as little kids think they are....they lack Disney flair.

I don't love it, but it's one of my boys' favorite rides. I think a Cars retheming somehow would be super awesome.

Environmentally, they *need* to switch over to electric cars. It's just unhealthy...for the CMs that stand there day after day sucking fumes, and the guests who wait in line.
I'm actually very surprised they haven't done this or have plans to yet.
I wouldn't want them to get rid of the ride "type". Kids love it. It just really needs some eco-friendly help.
I mean, it's "Tomorrowland" for pity sakes. Time to leap into the future.

As it's in Tomorrowland, my vote is a overhaul/retheme to TRON and make it so the kids can still drive...maybe a lightbike instead?

I wouldn't get rid of it! Ride is a legend! But update the vehicles! Less exhaust smells and less smells!

DS loves this ride and for 1 whole trip it was one of only 3 rides DD would do (I am so glad she is past that stage). I would love to have an update of the cars to something that has a little more power and was not as hard to steer and accelerate

When we went in 2009 for our first visit with our son my DH and myself both commented on how dated the ride is...even our local parks have closed those rides or updated them to be a lot different.

It has a long wait always b/c of loading, stinky,hot and yes, dated. We marked it off our list. If the re-themed it that would be one thing but I kind of agree it is a bit embarrassing.

What a great idea! I agree this isn't my favorite but now that my DD9 is able to drive around on her own it's a must on the list. I think a cosmetic overhaul along with going electric/hybrid (those fumes are rough!) the ride could be made enjoyable for the kiddos and adults both.
