Matching Shirts in WDW

We are one of those families also.

I make DH, and DS matching shirts and make a dress for me out of the same fabric. We have received lots of attention from CMs and guests.

We will have matching shirts for our MK day, the 2 older Princesses will have matching shirts everyday. Our Garden View Tea day, my 5 year old DGD and I will have matching shirts. All matching sweatshirts too. The 3 Princesses will have I don't want to go home t-shirts, not the same design or color but, the same idea:) Years ago, I always took my church youth group places and we had matching shirts..They are so fun

There was a time when we matched tee's, but not anymore.

We had a trip planned for September 2001. Then 9/11 happened, but we decided to go ahead with plans for the trip. I tye dyed t-shirts red, white & blue in a show of support for our country. The attention we received for wearing the shirts was more of a quiet acknowledgment and respect for the choice we made in showing unity as a family and US citizens. My DH did have an air marshall approach him some time during the flight, thanking us for the display in pride of our country.

I made matching Mickey Aloha shirts for all of us, but DH is not happy about wearing his. He is not into adults wearing matching shirts at all.

I made several matching outfits for the girls in addition to the aloha shirts, so they will match for much of the trip.

[These next two are a design I came up with and call my "Linked for Life" shirt. Each person in my immediate family has a Mickey or Minnie and are linked in birth order. Then I made hats for everyone matching the colors of their Mickey or Minnie to what was on my shirt. I added a bow to my Mickey head after this picture was taken.

I love this design. Would you mind telling me how you made these?

We have the same shirt! The Mickey made up of the family names! Gotta love the DISigners :)

I do love the Disigners! I don't use them as much anymore b/c I figured out how to do my own designs. I don't think that disigner is part of the boards anymore b/c I noticed when I gave him credit for the disign on a thread that they blurbed his name out!

Oh, thank you! That's so nice. I bought a heating tool at Pat Catans (I don't know if they have them other places than Ohio), and it heats up the glue on the back of the jewels or studs in the case of this design. I spent a really long time heating the studs up and placing them around the cut outs from the Home Depot paint chip Mickey heads and around some bigger patterns I made out of file folders. I just put the patterns down and got to work heating up the little jewels. It takes a while, but everything looks great that I did. I am thinking maybe this design might translate well into a tattoo....hmmm.......

Where do you get ideas for the shirts? I'm artistically challenged but I'd love to have matching shirts at least one day for our upcoming trip.

And do you just upload the graphic and have someone screen print it? Do it at home?

I'm clueless. Help!

Kappyfinn, well, on the disign board, they have awesome talented people who offer to do designs for all of us non-artistic people. Go to he top of that board, look at a sticky at the top that says, Meet the Disigners and look over their designs. You in return can ask them to personalize them, but, remember too, that each designer has a couple of simple rules. They don't charge for them. Then you buy the shirts and transfer sheets. I love amymickey.com for the transfers and she sends great directions as to how to use her transfers. You print them off and iron them on your shirts:) Once you get to the meet the designers, you can ask more questions about the process. No question is too silly and you will be surprised as to how much you will be helped:)

I have to agree about amymickey.com! The shirts I made for my boys in September have been worn and washed countless times and still going strong!

Thanks for the info. I checked out amymickey.com but she states she's no longer doing any Disney designs. But now that I know where to look, I'm sure I can find something.

Thanks again!

She doesn't make disney theme disigns but she sells transfer paper which you will need to make any shirts.

I've used hers with success and I've purchased the Avery brand from Target/Walmart with equal success.

You can also purchase shirts from etsy.com which are either screen printed or embroidered/appliqued if you don't have time to make them yourself. If you're just doing 1 or 2 shirts sets it's not that much more to buy them when you consider buying the shirts, transfer paper and ink (plus the extra paper for a practice run on your first try) and the time involved in putting it all together.

I love all these family shirts! I have converted my husband into a Disney nut, but he said he draws the line at matching family shirts :sad2:. I got him to wear a matching shirt with me on our honeymoon only because I promised we would get a free dessert...good thing we actually did!

The DISigners are wonderful. I used them tons last year. I do my own now, but still periodically look at their great designs to see if I want something they have! We are looking into Amy's transfers too b/c we had trouble with our transfers last year. I also bought an embroidery machine, so I can't wait to be brave enough to try out some Disney designs with it.

We've done it a few times. Sometime just the kids, and other times we all get in on it.

We sometimes wear matching shirts. Other times we just all wear Disney Shirts that are all in the same color family (it is the scrapbooker in me).

I made the Muggle shirt with my cricut for our trip to dark side

We made sharpie tie-dyes (It was St. Patty's Day this year so all had some green in it)

That is all I can find right now easily.

I have never heard of the sharpie tie dye! How is it done?

We wear matching shirts too...except for DS1. He will not match with us...too bad he doesn't know that grandpa is getting everybody matching shirts for the trip in June with extended family and he will have to wear one then! He will wear it though since it's for grandpa. :thumbsup2

We never have matched, however I make sure we look like we all are going to the same party. Color wise etc
