Is this part of the DISboard the "Disney Trip Planning forum" and "Theme Park Attractions and Strategies" technically for WDW trips? I'm just wondering if there's a good place for us to start a OMDD Trip Planning thread, since of the 16 of us on here, only 5 or 6 of us are doing DL. I think the first post needs to have our name, where we are going, dates, and what hotel we will be staying in.

What else are you going to do in California?

My husband keeps laughing at me for spending so much time on these boards, and still having 7 months to go... He thinks I'm going to have every second planned out. I'm not that bad, but I will have our Character Meals planned out, and the Halloween Party night in a spreadsheet, as well as the park hours for the day, and the days Aladdin is on.

Do APs get Preferred Seating for Aladdin, or is that something you only get when you buy a travel package?

We are going to the San Diego Zoo because I have heard that is is so awesome and we will probably never get to California again to go to it. And we really want to site see in Hollywood - Chinese Theater, Hollywood Sign, Beverly Hills, the beaches, etc. You know, all the touristy things! It's sounds cheesy, I know, but this is such a great opportunity for us to get to Cali and we want to be able to see what we can in So Cal in one trip. Eventually we really want to get to San Francisco, but that is going to be years away, I'm sure!

Yes, agreed.

Still no word back on my itinerary...sent my travel questionnaire back on 2/15 and got the email that it was received and they were working on our trip....should I call, or just wait it out?

I hope to receive my questionaire this week. How was everyone's received so far? My eyes are spinning from reading all the info so I don't recall if it is sent email or mail. I remember someone mention their questionaire for DL came snail mail.

That is when I sent mine too. I got the hotel itinerary only on Friday. Are you going to WDW? I know my contact was out of the office on Friday because I emailed that morning to see if I could just get the hotel confirmation and someone else emailed me back saying he was gone and they were kind enough to send the hotel info for me. Guess it will be awhile until I get the airfare info. Initially he told me it could be up to 30 days. :scared1:

Yep! WDW. And we are locals (about an hour away) so, I guess I assumed it would be easy planning not having to deal with airfare and everything.. :(

To be honest when I talked to our guy last week he seemed a bit frazzled. Very nice of course, but frazzled. He did say he was planning a lot of trips right now. We had a laugh about it, because I would love to do that for a living! I would just call and ask if it wouldn't be too much trouble to get your hotel info. That's what I did and the were very accomodating. :) I really don't think I would have gotten it as quickly if I hadn't asked.

I am a huge planner and organizer so I bought this binder to keep track of everything - hotel and air reservations, dining info/reservations, etc. Since we are extending our stay in California by a week, my binder has gotten full with all the extra stuff. I had to buy a new binder yesterday that was thicker to be able to hold all my stuff... and I still have 5 months to add stuff to it!

Wow! You're on top of things! I've got the papers they've sent me all over the table next to me buried under bills and schoolwork. LOL! :rotfl: I'm trying to finish a class and when that's done I'll have so much free time to plan. I don't know much about DL so it will be fun. I'm so glad that the dining reservation system is different at DL and I don't have to figure out where we're eating right now. :thumbsup2

We're staying in California for a week after DL as well. We're planning on heading down to San Diego and going to the zoo and 2 days at Legoland, then spending the rest of our time at the beach. I can't wait!

Will give it a shot once I get DD down former nap! Thanks for the encouragement lol!

You will love the SD Zoo. It's been years since I have been, but it was awesome then. If you can swing it, you should try Sea World too. As for beaches, I like Huntington Beach. The Dukes' Restaurant has tasty food, and a good view of the ocean. I can't remember what time of year you are going, but we were last there in late December 2008 and there weren't many people on the beach, the water was cold, but the air wasn't too bad.

PS-I don't even want to admit how many times I've been checking my email per day. If I even pass my iPad I'm opening my email quickly to check lol.

I HAVE to recommend the Blue Bayou inside POTC! It is a little pricey, .ake sure you go for lunch not dinner, but it is delish and the atmosphere is great! We always get the Monte Cristo Sandwich!:)

I hit refresh on my email so often while waiting for my itinerary to come back. It's good my husband was actually at the office last week, he would have been irritated by the amount of time I spent watching my email and hanging out on the DIS, instead of doing things like ironing his clothes.

Are you going to DL or WDW? I can't keep everyone straight. ;) I'm going to DL and I got mine by mail last Tuesday. I e-mailed it back to them on Wednesday and received my itinerary on Thursday. DH made me change our flights so I had to send it back Friday morning and haven't heard back from them yet. I just want to get it booked so I know the dates and flights are for sure. :thumbsup2

I agree. Especially since you have the gift cards. For those of you with boys, I recommend Goofy's Kitchen for a character meal. Lots of characters there, long time for interaction, and the food is weirdly good (PB & J pizza, worms and dirt).

Since you are going before us, you will have to let me know if the SD Zoo is worth the trip. I've heard that it is not to be missed, but I have also heard that it is just so-so. Legoland is a lot of fun; I have never been to the one in Cali but we have AP's to the new one in Florida and I think they have a lot of the same things. Your kids will enjoy it for sure.
