Kathy, I am so sorry to hear about your car trouble and I really hope you can work it out and that it will not interfere with your vacation. You NEED to get away from it all for a while!
I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

Thanks everyone. Iowa was great--a really nice time, at least untilw e got home. My brother had Mark's car to take care of the dog and was in an accident. Thankfully, no one was hurt, but Mark's car may be totaled. On top of that, my car wouldn't start this morning. As of now, our trip is up in the air. I hope to know more tonight once we've talked to the place where my car is being looked at, the insurance company on Mark's car, etc.

I will continue to post the daily questions in the hopes that this all works out. But right now I am not being very optimistic.

Questions coming up soon for the next day.

This makes me sad for you. You don't deserve this stress right before your trip!!! I will pray it all works out!

kathy glad everyone was okay and hope the cars get fixed up for you...that really stinks something to worry about before the trip, hope it is still on.

Thanks, Dan.

If I need to drive my car to Chicago and fly home so you can take this trip, I'm more than willing. You need to go on this trip. Just my humble opinion. Glad no one was hurt in the accident.

If I didn't cry enough today out of frustration, your generosity and warm offer brought me happy tears. Thank you, Amy.

Uh oh. Keep us updated! I hope it all works out.

Thank you, Captain.

I hope everything works out with your cars and I'm glad that everybody was okay. :goodvibes

Thanks, Lessa.

Thanks, April. I'm glad no one was hurt...that is the most important thing.

sorry about the car issues....lucky no one was hurt.

sending :goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes so you can still go on your trip!

I keep telling myself it could have been worse.

That totally sucks! I had someone run into me a week before we were supposed to go to Disney and I remember being freaked out thinking we'd have to cancel our trip. After a hectic three or four days, everything worked out and we were still able to go. I'll keep everything I got crossed hoping that it works out for you guys!

Thanks, Lisa. It really does suck.

Kathy -- BOO to wrecked cars! I am glad there are no injuries, though I would consider a cancelled trip a serious injury.

I truly hope it does not come to that!!

Thanks. :)

what did i win for being the first to respond to round 5
:thumbsup2
You win...NOTHING! :lmao::lmao:

Oh no, I hope it all turns out okay. I have a feeling it will:hug:

Thanks, Jen.

Oh No!!! I'm sorry to hear that, Kathy!!! I hope you still get to go, espescially since most of it is paid for already.:grouphug:

Thanks. News coming up.

Sorry to hear about all the surprises this weekend. I hope everything gets resolved and you can be worry free and get to take this trip.

Thank you, Pat. An update to be posted after all of my responses.

Oh Kathy!!!! I'm so sorry to read this. I hope that everything works out perfectly in timing and reimbursements. Hopefully your care is something simple to fix. Praying it all works out for the best for you and quickly! Good news that nobody was hurt.

Thank you; I'm glad no one was hurt or worse.

I wish all I needed was a new battery. :scared1:

I hope that everything works out okay!! Saying lots of prayers and crossing fingers and toes!!

Thank you, Shannon.

After a longt, emotional draining day, here is the news on the cars.

My car cost $590 to fix. I needed an oil change, air filter replaced, new battery and both rear shocks replaced.

As for my husband's car, nothing will be done until we get back. We need to get a couple of estimates and just do NOT want to deal with it right now. It might be totalled (it is a Chevy Trailblazer and the entire front is smashed in, the air conditioner cracked and the shift gear does not work; however, the car starts ande the wheels turn) or it might not.

In case I have NOT mentioned this before, we have TWO abswolutely terrific sons. Andy paid for my car to be fixed on his Firestone Tire & Repair shop credit card and told us to pay him back whenever. He also insists on paying for the deductible of $500 if the other car can be fixed. I told him over and over we would just cancel our trip and pay for the repairs, etc. He told me in NO uncertain terms, that this was his vacation too and he was not forfeiting his airline tickets, park tickets, etc. He made me cry so many times today with this thoughtfulness and generosity.

So the trip is on and he won't even let me cancel some of our ADR's and give him at least part of the money. He says we are having the vacation of a lifetime together.

So I tell you all, I love both of my kids and they truly are remarkable young men.

Okay, I am going to post the last two days of questions soon as after being on the phone off and on all day with my husband and son about both cars, I got nothing done and the next two days are going to be extremely busy at the office.

Thank you all for all of your good wishes, thoughts and hugs, etc. I will say it once more: the DIS friends are the best friends. :grouphug:

Hurray for some sunshine on a cloudy day! So wonderful of your sons! Glad your car is fixed. Can the person you bought the car insurance from do any footwork for you from his end?

They could probably do that, but Mark wants two weeks of NO PHONE CALLS as he said. He wants to just relax and forget all the worries.

Somebody's Son is a lot like them :) I am glad your car was able to be fixed. I hope that Mark's will not cost you to much in the end. I am so very happy that the trip is on!!! Can't wait to see you both and meet Andy!!

Kathy- It does sound like you have 2 wonderful sons. I'm so glad you decided NOT to cancel your trip and I hope you enjoy every moment of it.

Just a thought on Mark's car. Did the airbag deploy? If it did, the insurance company will most likely total the car. Replacing the airbag is extremely expensive and most insurance companies won't mess with them.

You are going to make me cry again. Thank you, Mary. We can't wait to see you and the girls in five days and to meet Jeff.

No, the airbag did not deploy. The truck has 160,000 miles on it and was in decent shape. But I'm going to put it out of my mind as my husband has requested and only happy thoughts from now on. :goodvibes

Kathy, you and Mark raised those two extraordinary young men and they take after their parents in thoughtfulness and generosity. :goodvibes

I am so happy everything worked out and you can put all worries behind you for some time....enjoy the Magic, be enchanted, smell the ocean and hug Nicki!!!

Werll it was the battery and I had to help out with my CC for that so I know how you feel !!I am so glad the trip is on :cloud9::thumbsup2:banana:for you
