Bin Laden - celebrations

Honestly, I'm thrilled that we do not have to worry about Bin Laden anymore. The dancing in the streets does remind me though of the Muslims that cheered after 911. I thought it was inappropriate then and IMO, it's inappropriate now.

This does not mean that I was not appalled by the events of 911, the USS Cole, the embassy bombings or the WTC attack of February 26, 1993. All were horrific.

The Muslims that cheered after 9/11 were celebrating the killing of INNOCENT Americans. Americans are celebrating the death of an evil man who was far, far from being innocent. If you cannot see the difference, please look again.

I don't have to look again. I stand by my opinion.

You do realize this site is about an American Institution, Walt Disney World. Why not post your nonsense on a forum where 90% of the member are not American.
You really do not realize how offensive your post is to people or maybe you do and are looking for some entertainment.

I don't find her posts offensive, or nonsense. I agree with much of what she said. And I am American (which is beside the point), so I have the right to voice that same opinion here?

I agree. There is no comparison.

I have to agree. I have seen posts by other Americans that I have found way more offensive. I may not agree with the OP, but she was simply stating her opinion and debating on the subject. :)

I agree.

You can't really compare the two situations, IMO.

One celebration is of the death of a mass murderer, the other celebration was that 3000 innocent people, who never hurt anyone, were murdered. Not the same thing at all.

I find it really sad that you cannot see the difference.

I for one will celebrate his death and will continue to do so. I will wave my flag and I will chant USA until my voice is gone.

I think there is a world of difference in cheering in the streets for a mass murder caused by one of your own and cheering in the streets because a mass murderer was killed.

:thumbsup2 I was so happy to hear the news last night. I'm glad he is gone and was NOT taken alive.

Didn't read all the replies. I just wanted to add something my son told me today. He goes to Catholic school. When I picked him up, he said, "Sister says it's wrong to cheer and rejoice about a person's death. No matter who that person was." I told him I agree with Sister.

Taken alive would have been nothing but a big pain in the butt and waste of tax dollars. It might have been worth it if we could have watched him hang, but lethal injection was too easy for the likes of him to die by.

Let me start by saying how happy I am that Bin Laden was caught. I think it´s amazing that the US Army was able to find him after all these years!
BUT....and yes, there is a but, I am disgusted by the celebrations in the streets. Just as much as I was disgusted by seeing muslim celebrations after 9/11.

We shot off fireworks last night after we listened to the President.
It felt good to know that the US kept it's promise to get this guy. I only wish they would have brought him to ground zero.

This ******* changed our way of life. He changed the way we ride to the city, the way we look at one another with suspicion. The way we see a package left on the train and think it's bomb. The way we don't leave our homes without our cell phones...as we recall so many of the calls from our neighbors in those towers as they burned and then fell.

Yep, we celebrated the death of true evil...and now he's in hell where he belongs.

You know what I am offended by, the video that was broadcast in 93 worldwide of the young American soldier dragged naked through the street of Mogadishu. That was a UN mission to feed the starving Somalis. That soldier was dragged through the street at the command of Bin Laden. Seems like people here have very short term memories of the atroscities this beast has inflicted on the world.

The National Anthem being sang on the streets of NY and throughout this country is a moment of pride.

I find it sad that in the USA, someone cannot respect a differing opinion.
Just because I'm not dancing in the street celebrating death does not mean that I love my country less than you do.

Her opinion was offensive to me and thanks to all the soldiers who fought for me to have the right to say I was offended I dam well will.

That is all well and good for MLK. I will never pretend to be as righteous as that wonderful man was. And so, I will continue to rejoice.

This isn't just the death of a man. Its the death of one small part of evil. It is a victory of good vs. evil, albeit a small one, but a victory all the same.

Nobody is asking you to celebrate, the OP's was the third thread today on the subject.
Respect how sensitive a subject this is to other peoples hearts and families stop fanning the fire then.
