Marriage: The Trip Report - Update 2/28 - Final Thoughts & Link to Disneyland TR!

Great to be back after my week long absence! I"m ready to get caught up!

I can say that an ultimate day at MK is totally doable!! Totally! I've done it many times, but you've gotta be there from RD to close, AND you have to do it in like Sept. You are going to LOVE IT!!!

You're an expert at FiPs, so I have no doubt that those will help you. BUT, I don't know if those are allowed to be "official".

Hey BE!

Great updates.

Loved the shots of the Pooh Queue.

Hoping you get a place to stay for your first solo night!

Looks like a delicious meal! I think I need to try The Plaza sometime. No room on our next trip...guess that means I need to plan another one!

Brilliant. I just added another two days to our next trip, and it's still not enough to stuff in --er, FIT in--all the good eats I want. Now to sell DH on another trip ...

I am so going to have to remember taking a picture of the sword in the stone from that angle. So much better, plus from the other angle, the sun is always in my DS's eyes.

I love your solo plans. I don't know if I could ever do a solo trip, but it sure does sound like fun.

I really hope your friend can make it with you. I am dreaming of a trip with a girl friend, but none of my friends have the money, or the love of Disney to come with me.

The Winnie the Pooh area is so awesome!! I wanna go! And I have never been on the ride. Will I look silly? lol I'll borrow a child lol

I have been dreaming of a solo or girlfriends trip as well! I'm SO SO excited!

No! You won't look silly at all! Go for it! Play and enjoy! Anyone who sees you will probably just think you are with a kid. And besides, it was Walt Disney's goal to have the adults playing too. ::yes::

The Plaza looks like a fab meal!

I don't blame you for trying to conserve your points as much as possible!

All our points are borrowed-each one is precious at this point! We truly do "need" more points, but that darn money tree hasn't grown yet!

I am so glad you loved the Plaza. It's a tradition of ours. Joe had what my mom and I always have. ALthough last time I did try the tuna salad sandwich and loved it. I agree with the service! It's awesome. Once, all I did was point to my coke and a new one appeared hehe

I can see why it's a tradition! YUM! That's funny about the Coke-and REALLY good service! :thumbsup2

Perfect solo trip plans! I can't wait to hear how you fair with the Ultimate Touring Plan and the 4 Park, 1 Day. Both sound like fun to me!

I'll keep you updated as to our progress getting into town on the 1st, if you're still in DTD when we arrive I'll head over and we can try and meet up :thumbsup2

I'm a tad crazy to be attempting both, aren't I? LOL Plans have slightly changed, which I will get to...

Sounds good about the 1st! Those plans haven't really changed, the 1st will kinda be a "whatever" sort of day I think.

Well...you know, if you need a new friend named Sarah I can fill in for her...:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

That first picture of Dumbo and that tree is so pretty. Love it! And now I'm hungry looking at all your food pictures. haha

:lmao: That could work!

Aren't those trees amazing? We had never been there in the Spring, but it is easily the prettiest season in WDW! Those trees and the F&GF! :cloud9:

Whoo! That's exhausting ...but sounds TOTALLY FUN! What a great Solo plan1

I know! I think I'm a tad nuts! :rotfl:

Brooke-Your plans sound so fun! You will have fun if Sarah comes or not. I can't imagine being able to tour on my terms and do whatever I want whenever I want. That sounds so cool. I would probably run myself to death! Dh says I run on pure adrenaline in WDW. I always look exhausted in our pics but I'm having so much fun!

Exactly me too! I will run myself to death! I can't even wrap my head around wanting to lay around too much - though there WILL be some of that...I'll share my new plans soon!

Wow!!! That plan sounds like soooo much fun!

And exhausting, right??!?! LOL But, I know I'll LOVE it!

The Plaza, yum...we really need a drooling smilie, don't we?

Don't be nervous -- you will love love love being solo!

You know, I honestly thought DL in May was out of the question, as it would require me to take an extra day off work. But your question got me thinking...I mean, I am going to be in LA, after all. And that's a long trip from NY, not one I'd like to make often...so what's one more night, really? This might be my only chance to see DL in any sort of convenient way!

In other words: I've decided to go a day early and spend one night in DL. And it's all your fault, Brook. :rotfl:

:lmao: Now that's some real Disney Enabling going on! But, I'm glad I did it!!! You'll have a BLAST! And I can't wait to read the TR! (hint, hint!)

Somehow I missed this when I just posted...OMG it sounds like so much fun!

I'm crazy! But, it sounds awesome to me too!

Good for you! When we went on the EB Panama cruise, I took my one son out three days early to have what may end up being my only trip out there. The rest of the gang came out one day early and we were able to take them to all the highlights. It is a much easier park to do in a short period of time, and you won't regret your decision!

:thumbsup2 I've heard so many great things about DL, I can't wait to try it myself. 2013 is the goal! (unless something like Norybell's situation comes along, then I won't hesitate for a second!)

No you wouldn't..... its a special cutter. I have one. Its like a big cookie cutter with a handle. You can buy them at the Mickey Kitchen & Bath store which adjoins the Earl of Sandwich.

Ya! We have that too! I made Henry and 2 of his friends a peanut butter Mickey Head sandwich today, they loved it!

Love the plans- You will love going solo.

You will drop your stuff and head out the first night - I know you will

Chances are you are very, very correct about that Pat! I cannot even imagine what I would do at 9pm by myself. Um. Get some food. Walk around. Um. Um. LET'S GO! None of the parks have a PM EMH, which is a bummer, but MK and DHS are open until 12 am.

Though, plans have changed slightly for arrival day...so I'm going to leave it as a "we'll see what happens" sort of night.

Holy cow Brook, you are going to be one busy solo traveler! I love all of your plans though, so something I would do if I could ever swing a solo trip. Though I do see a teeny, tiny flaw...you keep mentioning some random chick named Sarah:confused3. You're quite mistaken as you want to take Molly with you, M-O-L-L-Y. Not Sarah. I don't know how you could've made such an obvious mistake.;)

Are you planning to do your live reports of your solo adventure?? It sounds like a dream! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you on your Ultimate MK day!:goodvibes

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

I know, I'm going to fall into bed like a log every single night and sleep hard. I look forward to it!

And yes! I will be doing live reports! I LOVE doing Facebook on the trip, it's so fun! I'll also Tweet/FB any sort of news or new things I run across during the trip.

I forgot to mention, did you know that the Sword in the Stone ACTUALLY comes out! I didn't. I don't remember where I read about it, on the allears yahoo group or here on the DIS but the lady said her 4 year old son pulled on the sword and it actually came out. A princess came out of nowhere and announced really loudly so everyone could hear that he was King of the Kingdom, and put a crown on him. A photopass photographer may have appeared too. She said her daughter was very impressed that her brother was now the King of the Magic Kingdom. She said it totally MADE their vacation, as you can imagine. The princess and CM's made a huge deal out of it!!:thumbsup2

Next time I was there I actually looked down into the stone and saw a little red light. It must be timed or something, but I've been visiting Disney World since the early 70's and several times a year in recent years (since we've been DVC) and I had never seen that happen. Still hadn't but I read about her experience. :dance3:

Yes! It does! :rolleyes1  That is SO cute about the Princess and being King of the Kingdom! Wow!!!!! I haven't seen or heard of that, very, very cool!

I think the sword is controlled by a CM standing off to the side with a switch...I've only seen it happen once myself. :teeth:

I love your plans, and can't wait to read the trip report. I have visited 3 parks in one day but never 4. I love the idea of the MK Ultimate Touring Plan, sure to take alot of pictures.

We have only ever done 2 parks in a day, so this will be all new to me! I could barely drag Joe to 2.

Great updates! I also have to say that I love your pictures. They're all beautiful. I wonder if Max will be into the WP queue when we go this summer? We were in MK so early that day, we raced through the queue and just jumped on the ride. :confused3

We loved our meal at the Plaza. I had the most delicious tuna sandwhich in the history of tuna. Not sure why I thought it was so amazing, but it was. Maybe Kathy's right...we had lunch there towards the very end of our trip and I think it might be that the food is relatively "light" compared with everything else you eat all week.

I absolutely could not keep up with your touring plans. No way. But it sounds like so much fun and a great way to pack in everything you'd want to see while you're there.

I think he'd enjoy it...and you guys will too! ;) We encouraged Henry to go into the tree and then showed him how a few things worked, and after that he was all over that play area, running back and forth! It was a blast.

I'll have to try that tuna sandwich! We love the one at CHH, I wonder if it's the same or similar? It's sooooo good, I'm normally not a huge tuna salad fan, except that one!

The Plaza looks really good. Well..that dessert does. :lovestruc Glad to hear you liked it there! :goodvibes
Great solo trip plans! My family has done all 4 parks in one day and we thought it wasn't that tiring!

The more I thought about the 4 Parks 1 Day thing, the more I realized how doable it is. 3 rides in each park, I could probably get through 3 of them by Noon if I hit AM EMH and just plowed through.

That Ultimate Touring Plan sounds like so much fun---glad you are doing it and I get to read about it:goodvibes I dont think I would actually be able to do it by my OLD self:lmao:
Sounds like you have great plans:thumbsup2

I know I'm going to be exhausted from that Ultimate Touring Plan, but to say I did it (or at least attempted...) will be so fun!!!

yah it would be nice to go all day or as long as i wanted and not have to stop or go for a sit down lunch. i would just go and grab a sweet treat:cloud9:

Exactly-I'm going to love that flexibility!

I saw a group of people ay AK and their shirts said 4 parks, 1 Day.
are you going to rent a car or use Disney transportation.

The day you do the ultimate MH day,
I hope you may have sort of a rainy day, but not to rainy that it shuts some of the rides down. Me and my sisters were at the MK from 3-midnight and did almost every ride. I can not believe how it cleared the crowds out.

the cheese burger at the plaza was like any other that you could get at any C.S.

I will be using Disney transportation, so that will be a bit of an extra challenge in there...sometimes that can eat away a good chunk of time.

I hope for that slight rain too! It really does clear out the parks - that would be PERFECT for the touring plan!

The Plaza was always one of those places that I always just walked by and never had any interest in. As someone who never gets the dining plan, this seems like it would be a great place for us! Glad to hear you guys liked it. :thumbsup2

Yes! It's a great deal for those paying OOP. A nice little break, but not crazy expensive or heavy food.

I just PM'd you.:thumbsup2

I got it! I'll PM you back (if I haven't already...I can't remember, LOL!)

I'm watching a friend of Henry's and she would like to add a few smileys --> princess::lovestruc:bride::cutie: (amazing the difference between boy and girl choices on the smilies!)

After hearing about the Tuna sandwich, I definitely want to try plaza. My late best friend Pam:littleangel: and I were always in search of the ultimate Tuna sandwich. We'd try all sorts of places everywhere. I continue the search without her. So far, my top Tuna is actually the tuna on whole wheat that you get at the pool bar at SSR. I suspect that they are made in a central location, so the ones at every pool bar would be the same or at least the same recipe. Its delish! Somehow, I didn't take a pic? :confused3

That sounds like a GREAT plan to me, and what a fun way to honor your friend. :goodvibes I haven't tried the SSR one either, have you tried the CHH one?

The Ultimate Touring Plan and the 4-Parks-One-Day both sound like a blast! What a fun way to spend your solo time!

And a little nutty, right? LOL

The Winnie the Pooh queue looks like so much fun!
The food at the Plaza looks so good. I may need to add an ADR.

It really is! They did a great job on it! I'm just curious as to what they will do with the Tigger area...I can't imagine them leaving it treed off for very long.

I thought the walkthrough for winnie the pooh was so cute. We had fast passes but I watched other kids playing the games. Yum! The turkey sandwich looks delish.

Your solo trip plans look so exhausting. :lmao: I think you will be able to accomplish it and I look forward to reading about it.

They are exhausting! But, I would love to be so tired and just collapse into bed every night and sleep hard. Sometimes I struggle with sleeping at night and I don't sleep well, so this will be a good way to exhaust myself and ensure a good rest!

Oh, you are going to do the Ultimate Touring Plan without me!!! :sad1: just kidding! I hope I would be able to come along for that, but I can absolutely understand that you want to do it on your solo trip! :goodvibes

Solo trip plans ound great. I guess you are still waitlisted for another DVC resort? I hope some solution will come through so that you are not "forced" to stay at SSR!

Trust me, I thought about how I shouldn't do it because you weren't with!!! But, then I realized I could just do it again...and probably have better results the second time. ::yes:: And, it might even get thrown out the window still...so we'll see!

On the resort, I'm actually at All Star Movies! I'll explain all that in an update here - there have been a few changes, all for good.

Love the update - that food looks great!! :thumbsup2

Also love the pic of the sword with the castle in the background - may have to try that shot in September :)

I really enjoyed the different perspective on the Sword in the Stone too, it makes you look like a King (or Queen) with the big Castle in the background!

We loved the Plaza when we went on our trip in Dec! It was my very FIRST table service meal at DisneyWorld ever. :goodvibes I had the steak and cheese and my husband got a chocolate milkshake. You are right- its really affordable! My daughter is sitting next to me and she was reminding me that she went to the Magic Kingdom and ate there! And people think 2.5 years old is too young to go... :rotfl2:

We got fastpasses for the Winnie the Pooh ride AND it was dark, so we totally missed all that stuff... I guess that means we have to go back. ;)

Solo trip- sounds like fun!!!

Okay... I'm all caught up I think!

Oooh, VERY good choice on your first TS! Ours was Boma, I'll never forget it! :lovestruc LOL about your daughter!!! That's so cute!

I think needing to see the Pooh queue is a perfect reason for another trip. ::yes:: (but then again any reason at all is a perfect reason, right? ;))

I got so behind again! I love the Pooh Que. We rushed right through it because it was dark. I don't think Claire even minded, but she did point out a few things while we were in line. We just did NOT have enough time this trip to do it all. And that was going strong all day long.

Next trip, right? :goodvibes She'll have a great time in there! Did you get to play with the honey walls?

Carter loved playing in the new Winnie the Pooh Queue. I can easily see how a little kid would find the play area more exciting than the ride.

Your solo touring plans sound like so much fun! Very tiring, but in a good way. I hope you figure out how to get the resort you want. :goodvibes

I can too! Henry declared he did not like the "part where it rains" - the Huffalumps. I understand why. Next time we'll probably just do the queue and then ask him if he wants to do the ride or not. I'm okay with missing it too.

Why have I not read much about The Plaza? Your food looks delightful!!! Yum! :) I really think I might switch some things up before our ADR day on Friday and give it a try. Is it usually fairly easy to grab an ADR?

I LOVE your solo plans! Do anything & everything you wouldn't be able to do with a hubby and little man! This will be a blast for you Brook! I'm super excited for you.

I think The Plaza is a bit overlooked! It's not as fancy and has simple eats, so I think people usually bypass it for something more interesting. But, I actually appreciated it's simpleness. I think it is pretty easy to grab an ADR for it, it's small in there, but never seems overwhelmingly busy.

Finally had the time to catch up on your report!

Now let me see if I remember all my thoughts....

Your flight - I'm a Coke Zero Sweet Potato girl so I would have been VERY happy with those snacks. Not a peanut fan at all. We always fly SW. Bummer about the delay and on one of our trips....we had a delay and by the time we were ready to take off...Gabriel's DVD battery gave out. I had to hand over my Ipod Touch and sit there reading Sky Mall for two hours;) Seeing Henry with such cool electronic goods reminded me of that.

Gosh I love that feeling when you are off to the House of Mouse!!

LOVE Henry taking pics of the food!

Main Street Bakery:lovestruc

Winnie the Pooh is Gabriel's favorite. I don't know how he is going to react to it being "different" but it looks so cute I am sure he will love it.

We want to try Plaza some time too!

You had said that you can choose your dining plan each night? Do you know if that applies when you rent DVC points? That would be awesome if so.

Cool on a SOLO TRIP!!!

Now, I will try and keep up so I don't have so much backtracking.....but thank goodness you do an index:thumbsup2

I was impressed with Jet Blue's snack selection too! There were 4 or 5 things to choose from! I'm on Delta for my solo trip. Blah.

I had soooo been there with the Sky Mall magazine. Ugh. Another bonus for Jet Blue is the TV in every single seat. It was awesome watching HGTV while we sat for an hour at the gate.

I hope Gabriel doesn't mind the changes! It really is a lot of fun, there is so much to do. Hopefully he'll enjoy it! Do you ever show him pictures/video of changes before you go to prepare him?

I am not entirely certain on if the "pick & choose" DDP works for renters, but I can't imagine that it wouldn't...usually you get all the perks that the owner gets. That's a great question--and now I have a renter, so next time I call DVC I'll ask just that! :thumbsup2

That reminds me, a great thing to do sans males is have afternoon tea at the Garden View Lounge at the Grand Floridian. We do this as a "girls" afternoon tea. My MIL and I took my daughters and niece, dressed them up in their pretty spring Easter dresses. We also did this another time with 2 of my girlfriends and one's daughter while the boys went somewhere else... it is so elegant.

5880_104611672893_674127893_2265901_5088736_n.jpg

I LOVE the GF Tea! We've only done it once, but I have thought about doing this for this trip!!! I think it might work out just perfectly for one of the days too...thanks for the reminder. :goodvibes

Really enjoying your report!! Henry is such a doll! I love the queue around Pooh, can't wait to see if for myself. I may have to play around there, my teenage son will probably be embarrassed:scared1:. Looking forward to reading more!

Melissa

Thank you for reading!!! LOL about your son! :lmao: I still say go for it! It's so much fun. He can show off his muscles and try to pull gopher out while you jump around. ;)

Looks like a delicious meal! I think I need to try The Plaza sometime. No room on our next trip...guess that means I need to plan another one!

Sounds like a plan to me!!! :teeth:

Your plans for you solo trip sound like so much fun. Touring solo will make it so much easier to get around.

Can't wait to read the reports.

I am thinking that sans 2 other people and stroller I'll cruise right through the parks. Even if I go slowly I'll be going at a pretty good pace. None of the "What's next?" question after each ride either!

A week long absence would take me 7 weeks to get caught up I bet! I'm STILL behind, drastically behind, from our vacation. :headache: All well!

You've done the Ultimate Touring Plan?!?! The real official one where you ride every single thing? Dude. :worship:  I'm very excited about it! And I DO plan to be at Rope Drop - matter of a fact, I have to in order to qualify for the official plan since the Opening Show is a required pic! LOL

You lost me about the FiPs. Are you talking about the plans? As per Touring Plans.com they want you to use their plan (but it can be adjusted), to prove how good they are. :thumbsup2

Hey BE!

Great updates.

Loved the shots of the Pooh Queue.

Hoping you get a place to stay for your first solo night!

Thanks!! I do have a place for the entire stay now, whew!

Brilliant. I just added another two days to our next trip, and it's still not enough to stuff in --er, FIT in--all the good eats I want. Now to sell DH on another trip ...

 It's true, never enough days at Disney!

Oops. Double post. It lied about the fatal error.

That darn fatal error. Bunch of hooey.

I am so going to have to remember taking a picture of the sword in the stone from that angle. So much better, plus from the other angle, the sun is always in my DS's eyes.

I love your solo plans. I don't know if I could ever do a solo trip, but it sure does sound like fun.

Isn't that a great angle? I really like it too!

I'm soooo excited about the solo/girlfriends trip. I know I'm going to get more Mommy Guilt as I leave the house, but hopefully it will disappear quickly! Joe and Henry are already planning a day at the beach, so that isn't too shabby either.

Trust me, I thought about how I shouldn't do it because you weren't with!!! But, then I realized I could just do it again...and probably have better results the second time. ::yes:: And, it might even get thrown out the window still...so we'll see!

How sweet of you!! I hope you get to try it and you are right, it's a good idea that you do an initial trial run this year so that when we do it together we can have a fantastic finishing time!! :rotfl:

Solo Trip

I heard from my friend Sarah the other day and she will be joining me!!! :yay: She flies in just before me and will just hang in the airport until I arrive. (I gotta tell her about Chic-Fil-A. She's originally from Oklahoma and knows all about that precious!) Together we will make our way on the ME to All Star Movies! I was able to rent my DVC points to a lovely DISer (I won't say who in case s/he wants to keep it a surprise!), and use the money from them to stay at a Value resort. I'm VERY excited to try a new resort! Movies is currently undergoing a refurb and I will be requesting a refurbed room. And...after I booked I randomly remembered we had a Free Dining PIN code a while back in the mail. I dug through the "shred" pile and found it! :woohoo: However, there are currently no Value resorts open with the code, but I'll keep trying! Free food would be amazing for the budget! With the PIN, I'll stay at any of the Value resorts, so I'm keeping that totally open.

Sarah can only stay through Monday, her boss is on vacation and she has to cover for her, so she's flying back earlyyyyyy Tuesday morning. I'll be solo all day Tuesday and through Wednesday until I leave myself. It's a perfect balance between girlfriends and a solo trip. :thumbsup2

And...Sarah IS up for doing the Ultimate Touring Plan with me! We plan to make Rope Drop and proceed to hit every single attraction at the MK. :faint: However, if one of us aren't feeling it, we'll scrap it. Or if we get partway through and we are done, we'll stop. We are just going to play it by ear.

The next day, May 30, will be a more relaxing day. Spa services may be included. :teeth: If we do the spa, I'm thinking I will try to get an ADR at for the GF Tea as well. Sounds like a perfectly girly afternoon at the Grand Floridian. Otherwise, we'll just end up doing whatever park we feel like doing!

The next day, May 31, Sarah will be getting up while it's still dark and making her way to MCO. Depending on how I feel and what our previous day held, I am still planning on doing the 4 Parks 1 Day.

And my last day, June 1, I'll just do whatever is calling to me. I still like the idea of heading to DTD for WPE breakfast, so I'm keeping that in my mind, but DTD is NOT close to the All-Stars, so a nice hot breakfast from the food court will most likely woo me instead.

So those are my current plans.

All subject to change. Of course. :rolleyes1

How sweet of you!! I hope you get to try it and you are right, it's a good idea that you do an initial trial run this year so that when we do it together we can have a fantastic finishing time!! :rotfl:

Exactly! You and I will break the record!!! (which I believe is currently 72 attractions in 11.5 hours!)

We left off finishing up our tasty meal at The Plaza and we were back out on Main Street.

We had decided before even going into The Plaza that we'd head out of MK after lunch to get in some swimming. The weather was perfect and.........we had access to Stormalong Bay at the Beach Club!!! The Clown slide (George, as I like to call him) was under refurb, which allowed us access to SAB. Both Joe and I were eager to check-it out and I knew Henry was going to loooooooove the sand area.

We slowly made our way back down Main Street. Part of me didn't want to leave, but I knew Joe was READY for swim, sand, and sun.

1201831263_ukjvU-L.jpg

Hey, it's "That Balloon Handler". He appears on so many TRs!

We ran into the Dapper Dan's and watched their show for a few minutes. They are so fun to watch, incredible talent!

1201834125_ayFf7-L.jpg

Video: The Dapper Dan's (48 seconds)

Gotta get a balloon picture!

1201839294_ov7gY-L.jpg

So far we have been able to make it out of the parks without buying one...so far...

1201841506_qnfaZ-L.jpg

Bye MK! See you later tonight!

We were out of the gates and on a bus before 1:30.

Back at the Boardwalk I noticed the totally creepy clown chair was pulled away and facing the fireplace:

1201843931_cY5R3-L.jpg

But what made it weird was...

1201842587_fhQcV-L.jpg

He has a name!!!!!! :lmao: I so want to know the history and story behind this chair.

In the room we put Henry down for a nap and I went off to the Hess Station to pick up some things we wanted for the stay. I had no idea what to really expect over at Hess because I couldn't find ANY threads about the selection other than simple things like "big variety of chips."

Well...there is a reason for that.

Chips is about all they have! We were hoping for string cheese, yogurt, maybe some hot dogs to grill out with, fresh fruit and/or veggies. They really don't have anything for perishables/cold items. We always bring the non-perishables from home, so Hess wasn't much help for us. I ended up with apples, bananas, water, milk and soda.

I did document my trip, for those that it matters to. Hess can be an easy stop for some snacks, water and cheap snacks for your room if you want to avoid the delivery fees of GardenGrocer or WeGoShop.

1217377596_swYNP-L.jpg

1217377795_r5P6h-L.jpg

WDW only has Chase ATMs, this might be useful for someone to avoid a charge...

1217379612_mNJrX-L.jpg

Lots of random stuff. You could make spaghetti (without meat), Mac & Cheese and PB&J...wait, they were out of peanut butter. You could make jelly sandwiches. Or Spam ones.

1217380156_7BzFD-L.jpg

You might have spied the coffee. The 8-12 type filters are the ones you use in a DVC Villa, but for the regular hotel rooms you need the 4 cup ones.

1217379941_GQXtH-L.jpg

1217380571_BEabw-L.jpg

Some single-size cereals and full box too.

1217378357_5HypL-L.jpg

I know this matters to a lot of people!

1217378599_BxY9T-L.jpg

1217381743_pr7Ma-L.jpg

1217378105_QV8HR-L.jpg

Trail mix type stuff on the end.

1217379197_e43vM-L.jpg

1217378857_pkPHt-L.jpg

Only Coke products. And no, they don't sell gum! :goodvibes

Half & Half

Overall, here is what I put in my notes. Hess is a lot smaller than I had imagined. They have a LOT of various chips and a few "healthy" choices like pita and veggies chips. The only fruit they had were bananas the were still green and Red Delicious apples. Boring. No veggies, not even a bag of baby carrots. They sold hot dog buns, but no hot dogs. No string cheese or cups of yogurt. 1/2 gallon of milk was $3.09, $0.15 cheaper at the Boardwalk, which was surprising. Soda was on sale, and the worker told me about that, so I got 2-12 packs for just over the price of one. A gallon of water is $1.99. A few toiletry items, feminine products, diapers, wipes, toilet paper, tooth care, hair stuff. Candy bars and other candy-typical gas stations stuff. There was a section for hot food, but the displays were empty while I was in there. One was for hot breakfast sandwiches. There was a coffee bar area too, and they did have a roller cooker of hot dogs. The only juice they had was single-serving style. A lot of things didn't have price tags.

It was kinda strange to see the CM's...in costume...pumping gas and purchasing items. Kinda like a "real world" slap in the face.

So, while we were hoping for a bit more of the cooler-type items, we knew it was a gamble relying on it and not getting a grocery delivery. We ended up just purchasing a few things from the Boardwalk shop, which really isn't all that much more than your average NYC grocery store.

I plan to make a thread elsewhere on the DIS with this info and these pictures to help others staying at those Epcot resorts that might want to take advantage of Hess! (or change their mind not to!)

Pretty boring update, apart from Creepy Paul. Sorry about that! But...next time...SAB baby!

Loving your TR - so informative and I love all of the links through out! Your family is just adorable and I have to say my favorite part of the TR was your son's video in the beginning! He was so excited! He made me excited for him!
Keep it coming...love it!

Hi Brook! I'm a long-time reader, but this is my first comment on one of your TRs! I was just wondering, did you look to see if the other chair had a name also? I thought I saw two "creepy clown" chairs in a previous post (or report) of yours...

A week long absence would take me 7 weeks to get caught up I bet! I'm STILL behind, drastically behind, from our vacation. :headache: All well!

I don't think I'll ever be consistent enough to read every line of chatter anymore, with so much going on. Like you say, ah well... you do what you can do.

LOL

NO, no, I haven't done the official one, but I have gone MANY times to both coasts and done every attraction in a day. On non-busy seasons, it's not hard! Hit the headliners early, then cruise through the snoozers in the afternoon, then Fland during the late evening after all the kiddies go home. Also, just be wise about FiPs (That's what I affectionately call FPs. Girlbomb called them that, and it stuck on me.) THe only one, I think I"ve left out is TSI, but a quick raft ride over, can't add more than 20 minutes.

You lost me about the FiPs. Are you talking about the plans? As per Touring Plans.com they want you to use their plan (but it can be adjusted), to prove how good they are. :thumbsup2

See above.
