 Me, too! Actually, it would have been Poly, Beach Club and AKL, in no particular order. But even though the theming at GF is not my thing, I'd stay there for CSR prices and enjoy every minute! :goodvibes

Yeah, I would take GF at CSR prices without batting an eye. That theming is right up my ally. And I would spend the week eating in each of its restaurants. :cool1:

Actually the theming at the GF is OK for what it is supposed to be...

My issue at the GF is the guest(s) themselves...and not all guest...just the ones that will stand in the entrance of a gift shop and not move...or the ones that get on the Monorail and look at you like you should give them your seat.

I'm sorry that you've experienced that. I don't ever remember that happening to me or if it did it didn't bother me enough to let it affect my trip in anyway. :)

Good to see another dave ramsey fanatic like me...we too are going in all cash and debit card only...getting money for christmas and savings ..We are going to CSR dec 21-30..we can go ALL CASH BABY!!! I refuse to pay for this trip over the next 2 years..it feels good to do this

Good for you!! We love Dave. Not only are we going all cash BUT we are not going to pay for the trip with one dime of regular salary. We are selling old stuff, saving all of our change (I guess this could be argued that it was our salary), rebating, using gift money and some paid OT from my husband's job. He always works tons of unpaid OT but we have been blessed in the last few weeks with PAID OT. We justify that Dave would be okay with this (we are only on BS 2) because no Disney money at all comes out of our monthly budget. Every extra dime that comes in that is regular salary goes to the snowball. We are living very cheaply and loving it all of the way to the bank! As soon as this trip is paid in full and we have travel and extras money set aside then I will start adding the money that was going to the trip to our snowball so it will go even faster. I can't wait to stand on the deck of the Disney Dream and shout "I'm Debt Free" on his radio show!

Yeah, it's well-themed, just not really a theme that appeals to me personally. Too floral and swoopy. I like the clean lines of CSR and the dark wood of CSR, AKL and Poly. The BC is awesome because it is so light and the pool rocks!

Not sure the entitlement issues are limited to the GF, though . . . :rolleyes1. Unfortunately, you can get that anywhere at WDW, from the people who want to be on the front row at the parades and show up right before it starts to the people who want your seat on the bus/monorail.

I saved all yard sale money that I made and any other odd jobs I did. NONE of my husbands salary paid for our trip in '09. We went completely debt free. This time, I babysat all summer for a friend and it's paying my way. I wouldn't go if I had to go into debt to do it. I'd LOVE to go on a Disney cruise but they're just so expensive. Maybe some day.

We saved 3 mo salary and my dh was injured and has missed over 6 mo of work. Thankfully, things have worked out just fine financially but we were so glad to have that 3 mo saved up!

21 days until my 2nd debt-free WDW trip! This time to CSR! WOOHOO!

Wow! That is so inspirational!! Way to go. Have fun!

I have a few OLCI related questions:

1) I noticed that the room requests only list the following: PnP, Fridge (see below), Ground Level, Near Transport. Are my other requests (building choice, Conf # of friends travelling with us) just hidden or do I need to reconfirm?

2) My understanding was that a refrigerator is included in all rooms, as part of the room rate. Why is the fridge listed as a requests and noted as being subject to a fee? Do I need to go back and add the fridge to my room request?

3) I noticed that our celebrations are duplicated. Apparently, when you add a new celebration of a type already created, it creates a new one instead of modifying the old one. Do I need to call them to clarify or will they be able to figure it out?

4) What is the difference between a "Limited View" and a "Standard View," or are they synonyms?

My answers :goodvibes:

1. If you have made any building or room requests, they are noted on your reservation. They do not appear on the OLCI page. They will still be on your reservation, but you can't make those requests through OLCI, so there is no option for that.

2. Fridges are standard in moderate and deluxe rooms and in the family suites. They are not standard at values and can be requested during OLCI. There is a fee to add them to a room at the values. The fridge screen shows up for everyone.

3. I expect they will be able to figure it out, but you can call reservations to see what is listed.

4. They are the same.

Have a great trip! :goodvibes

The "preferred room" definition confuses me a bit for CSR. Since El Centro and the Dig Site are across the lake from each other, you really can't be near both! I do wonder how they're going to sort that out.

Hi, everyone. I'm back. I started my Trip Report last night (linked in my signature). I hope to star the new CSR thread on Saturday.

I was just on the booking site checking prices, and the preferred room selection is described as being closer to El Centro and the convention center. (Which is just fine for me-I prefer to be closer to the dig site!)

Hi, we are headed to CSR on Oct 17th (yikes it's so close!) and I have a few questions. I've been reading here for a while and what great information! Most of my questions were answered before I even had to ask! Thanks!

Question 1 - about the coffee maker, I know my DH and my Dad will not want lousy coffee so I plan to bring our own but am not sure what I should be bringing. Do I need to bring coffee filters or do they have those in the room? I don't drink or make coffee so I'm having trouble wrapping my head around this! LOL

Question 2 - tipping Mousekeeping - do you do it everyday or at the end of your trip and how much do you normally tip?

Question 3 - room location - my Dad will be using an ECV we have rented for the week and for now I have requested Casitas 1st floor or Cabanas 1st floor. Does this sound right? Should I be more building specific? I really wanted cabanas but am thinking that for loading the ECV that it might be better to be near the 1st bus stop in the Casitas section.

Question 4 - not really CSR specific, but does anyone know if my Dad's handicap parking placard is good in Florida if it is issued in Ohio?

Do I need to bring coffee filters or do they have those in the room? I don't drink or make coffee so I'm having trouble wrapping my head around this! LOL You will need filters; the coffee they leave for you is prepackaged in a little filter type bag.

Question 2 - tipping Mousekeeping - do you do it everyday or at the end of your trip and how much do you normally tip?We tip $4 or $5 a day becuase you can have a different mousekeeper during the trip.

Question 3 - room location - my Dad will be using an ECV we have rented for the week and for now I have requested Casitas 1st floor or Cabanas 1st floor. Does this sound right? Casitas 3 or 4 might be closer to the bus stop than Casitas 1. Explain to them when checking in that your dad has an ECV and I am sure they will try to accomodate a room close to the main building and bus.

Question 4 - not really CSR specific, but does anyone know if my Dad's handicap parking placard is good in Florida if it is issued in Ohio?

Not sure about this last one, but I would definitely think YES that it would be accepted.

I answered your other questions in red as well.

(From http://www.sarasotataxcollector.com/dmv_pages/Parking_Permits/PP_GeneralInfo.htm)
Out-of-State Visitors
Florida has an agreement with every state which allows out-of-state permits to be used in Florida. These states also recognize Florida permits along with all Canadian Provinces and Territories except Northwest Territories and Nunavut.

Thanks so much for the answers!

This is the first trip for my kids DS (10) and DD (4) and my DH. My parents are going along and I'm excited they get to see the kids enjoy everything Disney! My parents took me when I was probably 3 or 4 and we stayed at the Poly (must have been alot cheaper over 30 years ago!!) but I only have a few memories so I feel like I am seeing it all for the first time too!

I'm excited yet a little overwhelmed with all there is to plan and do. I think I have lists of my lists!:rotfl2:

I'm sure I will have a few more questions in the next few weeks and can't wait to finally have something to contribute when I get back and share how our trip went!

So I just switched my ressies from POFQ to CS/King Bed. I havent stayed at CS since 2002, so I am pretty excited have a few questions.

I really do like to have a decent view when on vaca.....they didnt have a waterview avail, so I booked a king bed, how likely is it that our room will be facing a parking lot??

I requested a room in the Casitas (stayed in Cabans last time ands remember wishing I was in the Casitas LOL). From experience, how likely is that request to be granted?

Have all of the rooms at CS been renovated??

Okay, I think thats it for now.....Thanks!!

All of the rooms at CSR were renovated in 2009.

Are you going in 2010 or 2011? There is a new preferred booking category for 2011 that will likely include some of the casitas, so it might be harder to get a standard room in the casitas in 2011. Also, if there is a convention while you are there, many of the casitas rooms may be booked. But we got casitas once when we asked for cabanas (we were able to switch to the cabanas) and another time when we didn't make any requests, so here's hoping for you! :goodvibes

We always book a standard view at CSR and have never had a parking lot view. But looking at the maps on the first page, it looks like some of the casitas have parking lot views. I haven't been in that section (at least on the back side where the parking is) in a while, so I'm not sure if the landscaping blocks the parking lot in that area.

Is there somewhere on these boards or on the Disney site where I can find driving directions? My parents will be driving to CSR (we are flying in) and I would like to find good directions for them once they reach the area or at least an address they can put into their GPS.

Also we are using Disney transport all days but one when we will drive from CSR to AK and then from AK to Hoop Dee Doo and then back to CSR. Anyplace to find directions or maps?

Also I am thinking of bringing over-the-door hooks to put on the bathroom door for more places to hang towels (never enough room in hotel bathrooms) and wondered if they would fit?

Thanks!
