The GROOVIER New Pop Century FAQ Thread Chapter 3! ~ Posts #1 & #2 are MUST sees!

Please help with a room request. It is me and DH celebrating our anniversary - no kids! I would like to be relatively near the food court and quiet. We have a non-preferred room. Do you have to request king bed? or is that a room type you have to reserve? Refurb room would be nice, but not necessary. I think the design is a little boring.

I guess we mostly care about the king bed. Then location. Then quiet. Then refurb.

I don't think it would hurt to request a king bed. When I have wanted/needed a king bed I always made that a specific request.

Also, I am sure if you mention to the CM that you are not worried about getting a preferred room but still want to remain relatively close to the main building, I am sure they will try to accomodate you.

If you want quite, try to stay away from rooms that face the Hippy Dippy Pool. It tends to get the larger crowds which equals more noise. A good way to avoid that noise is to travel with a fan, a white noise machine or use the noises which are on the rooms alarm clock. I travel with a white noise machine and had a preferred room directly next to the HD Pool and didn't hear a thing when I had the machine running.

This had me laughing. Because dh said why pay 750.00 more for 2 extra feet of space.

When you put it that way it does sound ridiculous!

As for hockey, I wish I could say I was sorry, but I'm not! If you only knew how long we Chicagoians have waited for that Cup!!!!! For the team to do the dramatic turn around it did in such a short time after the long time owner passed away was amazing!

Announcement Regarding Pop Century FAQ Thread​

Hello my Pop Friends!

As some of you long-timers know, three years ago I established the "Groovier" Pop Century Resort FAQ Thread by consolidating of a wealth of knowledge from many of you, organized in a way to be resourceful and current. It's been so rewarding to hear so many people discover and take advantage of the convenience of having a wide range of information and visuals at their fingertips in Posts 1 and 2 without having to ask the question and wait to learn what they want to know now! So many of you have been so helpful at keeping the current goings-on fed to all of us so I could get it posted. THANK YOU for making the content of this thread as great as it is!!

After months of thought and personal consideration, I've concluded that Chapter 4 should be another new beginning! I've decided to pass along the torch of maintaining the DISboard's Pop Century FAQ thread to other knowledgeable, considerate hands of Pop lovers who we are familiar with here. Therefore, I've asked Christine (Minnie&Nana) and Kris (Kristineamb) to take over my voluntary responsibilities of maintaining the integrity of the facts of the FAQ in Posts 1 & 2 starting with the next Chapter. They'll be working together on getting content of fun and essential facts updated on the "Go-To" posts just as I have in the past.

So now what and when? Over the past month, Christine, Kris, and I put together a transition plan. I have passed along the code (what you see when you "Edit" a post) to Posts 1 & 2 for one of them to copy into Chapter 4 so they have a baseline to work with. I've assured them that I will have no hard feelings whatsoever if they want to do anything different than what I've done in Chapters 1 - 3; so, you may or may not see some changes to what these posts look like. As many of you have done for me, please just keep them in the loop if you're reviewing Posts 1 & 2 and see anything outdated, missing, or links that no longer work so they can make it as usable and friendly for all who need one single source of current information.

We've been waiting for the DISboards' guideline of a 250 page cap on a thread to get closer before I made this announcement. As you can see, we're almost there! So with that said, they will have Chapter 4 up and running before I make the request with the Moderators to go ahead and close out this Chapter 3 thread and add the new link to the Sticky at the top of the DISboards Resort Forum. Until this thread is closed out, please continue using this thread before posting on the new one!

I once again thank so many of you for being so friendly and helpful to not just me, but the many people who pass through the Pop FAQ thread during their magical vacation planning!!! I also want to express my grateful appreciation to Christine and Kris for taking on this responsibility. I know we're all in great hands, and that is so comforting to know as I pass this on to someone else! If any of the transition plans would change for any reason, I'll certainly let you all know.

You gotta love this DISboards community members for all they give! I can't wait to see about 150 of them and their families on the

Disney Cruise Line Westbound Transatlantic Cruise

in less than a month and hopefully some of you at

Pop Century

sometime soon!!

So glad I'm not the only one who feels that way. I have met the most interesting people, and had the nicest conversations, while sitting in the smoking areas at Pop and in the parks. Hope to meet some more "exiled smokers" at Pop in February!

we love the POP, our third time to stay there is coming up in April! made my deposit today. I don't like wasting money on a "fancier" room either, we sleep and rest a bit in the afternoon, mostly in the parks and pool anyways. Would rather spend on food and fun stuff!

Anyword on 2011 Bouncebacks??? I am friends with 2 fellow disers that have been at Pop almost a week now and they havent seen anything yet on Bounceback . But I have seen on these boards they are offering reg free dining but no one has been able to come out witha code yet just dates of 8/15-9/30/2011????????????????????? One more full day of work then we start our driving trek to Disney!

On any thread on the DISboards, near the top of the page and just under the advertisement banner and "Page # of #", there's a drop-down option named "Thread Tools". After clicking on this, select "Subscribe to this Thread". Please do this instead of posting a "Subbing" type of post so we can cut down on the number of unnecessary posts that makes it more time consuming to read through.

Room 5461 would be on the 4th floor.
You want to request 51 something
We have stayed in the 4000 building facing the hippy dippy
pool and our room number was 4110 perfect location.
We have also stayed right around the corner same building
bottom floor from pool in room 4117 (2times) and this last trip
4113. All excellent and close rooms to pool and main building.

Thank you so much Kimberly for all your help and support ...and for trusting us with your wonderful FAQs thread! You know we will do our best...might take a little time to get the hang of keeping up, so we hope everyone will be patient.
