Coronado Springs Resort -- New Unofficial FAQ Thread -- November 2009

We did make one stop which surprised me. I'm trying to think where we were coming from. I think it was AK and we stopped at Blizzard Beach to pick up one couple. It didn't bother me but I didn't expect it.

We have stayed at POP the last two times, and we had to do this both times we went to AK. I think I have seen others mention this in other threads and TR's. I think is has more to do with AK, than your hotel. YMMV.

With the new queens beds at CSR - Can I wtill fit a Twin sized Aero bed in the room ?

If yes - where should we place it on the floor ?

We are family of 4 - but have a teen DS and teen DD who do not sleep together.

Please advise.

Our DS loves the idea of CSR and not POFQ b/c of the pool - even though we are going June/July 2011 and it will be rainy season ! :rotfl:

We will be calling soon for reservartions with our dates for WDW in 2011 :thumbsup2

We just returned from CSR.....we just moved the desk to the opposite side of the dresser, it was closest to the windows to start and we moved it to the other side closest to the bathroom sliding doors.
You'll have to unplug the desk first because it has a minnie power board at the top of it, once you do that then it's pretty easy to scoot it over and replug it back in. Even though the desk had a place for you to plug in a computer or phone you should take another power strip for everyone's phones, camera's etc. It came in very handy for us.
By the way, the room that was provided by moving the desk, was big enough to put down a queen sized blow-up. We also had a teen who won't sleep in the same bed with his little sister.
I guess I don't blame him.

Thanks for the coffee info! My trip will be much more pleasurable with the in-laws getting their daily coffee fix! (we dont even consider nescafe to be in the coffee family)!

One more question, we will be going in Aug 2011 and I need room request suggestions:

We will need 4 rooms (there are 9 of us total), they do not need to be on the same floor just in the same vicinity of eachother. But DH and I want something close to the bus stops, close to El centro and not too far from the dig sit, as we will have our 18mo old with us. The rest of the family doesn't really care where, near laundry would be nice and a bar :rotfl: I'm just not sure where to request that would give us the best chance here? Oh and DH and I prefer an upper floor (I know we seem crazy :scared1: having to haul a stroller and toddler upstairs but I use the elevators anyways and we have noise issues)

Thanks for the help!

Well Cabanas 8A, 8B and 9A would take care of the close to the Bus Stop and the not too far from the Dig Site....there is a Bar at the Dig Site. 8B and 9A are closer to the Laundry...and the area quite pool.

However...Cabanas 9 B would put you closer to El Centro. and you could catch the El Centro Bus Stop...still not too far from the Digsite.

Here now in Cabanas 9B, any ?'s, please ask :flower3:

Trip Report- Let me start off by saying that we loved this resort. It definitely held up to my expectations and then some.

Check In: We were scheduled for a very late arrival but was able to leave earlier than expected and checked in about 10:30pm. I did the online check-in and walked right up to the line. There was another couple in front of us but as soon as one of the resort desk personnel saw us, they waved us over and we were handed our keys and package in less than 5 minutes.:rotfl:

Room: I did attach a request to our rooms at booking and I also did a fax request. We were put in room 9100 Cabanas. The location of the building itself was fine. We were less than a 2 minute walk to El Centro, less than a minute from bus stop #4, and very close to the Dig. The room itself was extremely clean and seemed bigger than POR. The beds and pillows were great. Dressing with those sliding doors gave us much needed extra room for privacy. Our room was on the ground floor, with a pool view, about 10 steps from the quiet pool, and maybe 30 steps to the parking lot. We could not have asked for a better location. Oh and the laundry room was right across from us!! We used it everyday for drying bathing suits and beach towels.:worship:

Pool areas: We went to the main pool about 2 times. Both times the pool was not packed at all. It is beautiful and the children seemed to enjoy it alot. The quiet pool was very nice. We spent every afternoon from about 2p-5p either in the pool lounging quietly or trying to sleep in the shade by the pool. Almost everyone we encountered there spoke in a whisper and by the end of the week we whispered constantly when at the pool. LOL Apparently all the adults without children had the same idea as us because there were lots of elderly and adult couples around the pool at this time doing the same thing. However, around 4pm each day this one couple with one child would come and literally scream and yell the entire time. We were fine, but I could see by the faces on the other couples around us and the mass exodus (after this family would arrive) that they definitely took "quiet pool" as just that- QUIET. One little thing that was particularly magical was this little green head Mallard. He would fly in every morning and land in the pool. He would waddle out - using the steps! He would quack until someone gave him a little morsel of bread or something. Then he would waddle back into the pool and swim with us all day. He was so enjoyable to watch and even the 'wild family' left him alone.

Pepper Market: I have to say we were 50/50 on this place. We had breakfast there every morning. We only had supper there twice.
Likes: waffles, fresh fruit variety, grits, varied selection, and pastries
Dislikes: biscuits, burritos, omelets, toast. etc . Alot of the items were pre-cooked, so that by the time they assembled a burrito, all the components were either cold or luke warm. Don't get me wrong- the servings are MASSIVE. But I just don't care for cold or room temperature breakfast food. I do believe if they would or could have been warmed once they were assembled, they would have been delicious. Supper was better than breakfast because they had more 'cooked to order' foods. I just found the prices did not fit the quality of food served.

Transportation: The bus system was awesome! Again our location was great. We had less than a 3 minute walk to bus stop #1 and bus stop #4 was right outside our building practically. We never waited for more than 15 minutes going or coming from the parks. We only had to stand 2 times and that was coming back to the resort at peak times from Magic Kingdom.

On a side note and not really to do with transportation. I did get an ankle injury while I was there. I saw tons of those golf cart things going by during our stay. I still am not fully sure what they are for. But the morning after I hurt my ankle, I was hobbling toward El Centro (aided by DH) to get a wheel chair. 2 of those golf carts passed us (completely empty) looked me directly in the face, smiled, watched me limp and rode right past. Now I am not upset and not judging the resort because of this. My main reason is...I simply have no idea what those are for but I guess they are not to help resort quests?:sad2:

Overall, the grounds are beautiful. It is so well maintained and lush. Everyone there was incredibly nice. I would stay there again in a heart beat and would recommend it to anyone.

I enjoyed reading your review. We just came back ourselves so I was curious if you liked it as much as us. Re: the golf carts. I know what you are saying. They speed around and there is never any guests on them and they never offer a ride. Perhaps you need to flag them down - lol. Maybe they are just workers needing to get to another part of the resort. A few times I needed to yell at my kids to get out of the way. I have read this on many trip reports from different people. Hopefully they will never get into an accident with guests.

I did not know the desk was movable. What a great idea !
Did the CSR maid service or CSR management mind the desk being moved ?
We do not want to get anyone upset while staying at CSR.
We are a polite, obey by the rules, family. :goodvibes

From my understanding, they are typically hired by convention organizers. Depending on the "contract" with them, or even the time of day (it would be less noticeable at night), they may not be allowed to pick up non-convention resort guests. Most likely tied to liability issues if someone got hurt.

I know when I stayed there last year, there were no carts the first couple of days, then a convention rolled into town and suddenly they appeared (and they all had signs in the window with the name of the convention). They too were typically not picking up any resort guests except for later at night when it would be harder to tell the difference (and possibly the organizers were not around ;)).

How did you get 9B? Are you with a group? Do you have club privileges? Not to be nosy!

If there is not a convention going on, regular resort guests will be put into 9B. You are NOT offered "Club privileges", but you would probably have a DVD player in room and extra "toiletries."

Hey there "Daisy"! I didn't know you had a trip planned!

How's it going?

I just put in a request for the Cabanas section, but someone told me that the theme park buses pick up the Cabanas last. Have you had any issues with overcrowded buses?

Thanks, and have a great trip!

Kathy, I believe Daisy is back (she posted that a couple of weeks ago and someone quoted her). I can tell you that we were in Cabanas 9A last September (our first time in eight stays we had not stayed in the Casitas). We never use the buses (we rent a car and drive everywhere), but since I was asked to "maintain" this thread, I thought I should experience the buses so I had a better feel for the buses. We took a bus to the MK and got on at Bus Stop 1 which is the last stop picked up (near Cabanas 9A and 9B and El Centro); it was around 5 p.m. and we waited less than five minutes for a bus and everyone had a seat, including the few people that boarded after us. Now, it might be a little more crowded in the morning, but most people report of normally getting a seat no matter which bus stop they get on at the CSR.

I've seen you around on several trip reports and we're glad to have you here.

Just wanted to say how excited we are that we will be arriving at CSR at this time approximately one week from today! Can't wait! Have loved reading everyone's trip reports and comments. Can't wait to experience Coronado for ourselves!

OK. We're back! Online check in was a good thing for us! :goodvibes We still were given all the explanation needed to uderstand all that we may need to know.
We were given a prime location!! We wanted to be fairly close to the Dig Site and close to bus stop 4, they gave us building 9a. It's the closest to the pool and very close to the bus stop 4. We couldn't have asked for a better location!!
We were on the back side in the middle of this building (room 8107) so it was very quiet, and we didn't hear one bit of noise from the pool. Honestly, even if we were closest to the pool as far as the building local, we wouldn't have heard much noise there either, there are so many bushes and tree's around the pool site I think it blocked almost all the noises coming from the pool. :goodvibes

The grounds are beautiful!! I loved staying here. If I haaaaad to complain.....I didn't like that the little motorized vehicles didn't stop to ask if you needed a ride to the front, out of the countless times they zipped by I was only asked once and it was on the last day as I was heading to the front of the hotel to go to luggage and check our bags in for the airport.
Another thing we noticed was that the toilet hadn't been cleaned before we got there or for some time as far as that goes, since there was a slight mold ring starting and the shower had the last person's hair sticking to the wall of the shower. :scared: Looong dark hair, we are all blonde or red heads.
I didn't really let it bother me since I take lysol wipes with me and clean everything down before using anything in the room. I did not however put my hand into the toilet.

All in all I really liked staying there and will have to give it great consideration when booking again since we've become so spoiled by going Moderate vs. value. It's much more quiet and more relaxing than the values. You can't go wrong with CSR. :lovestruc

Welcome back, Camille. Thanks so much for the report (I hope you reported the "bathroom" issue to mousekeeping--there is no excuse for that. I'm very happy you enjoyed your stay at the CSR. :)

Hi there everyone. I thought I would join the thread as we are hoping to stay at CSR on our next trip, which is Oct 2011. This will be our first trip stay moderate and DD really liked the pictures of CSR, and DH liked the pictures of the hammocks. I'm just happy to be going back to Disney. We were going to go this fall, but DS is making some changes in our lives so we are waiting till next year.

Oh and a quick question. Does a Pack N Play or crib easily fit in the room?

Yes; you can either move the two hammocks or the desk if need be.
