Going in August and want to get a cake for my DS 1st trip (i know this is earlier, but what can i say, i'm a planner). Love the work cakemanbri does and was wondering who does the cakes for Kona at Poly, since that is where we are staying and eating on the 1st night. Trying to figure out if I should just wait until 2nd night to do it at Chef Mickey's so I can hopefully get cakemanbri or at least someone he works with.

One other thing, do you have to order the cake through the cake hotline or can you email directly with the chef. I would just feel more comfortable talking with the chef.

Has anyone had one delivered to Boma? My daughter is turning 11 that night. I am overwhelmed with all of the great threads lol

Another dessert option would be a rice Kirspie Mickey or minnie. They make big ones at the bakery.

Can you special order these? Is it through the cake hotline? :confused3 Does anyone have a link for some pics ... my "rise Krispie" search only comes up with the make-your-own at Goofy's.

I have read through many pages in this thread and have not come across a custom Donald Duck cake. Anyone know if these are available? We will be staying at Bay Lake Tower in March for my son's 5th Birthday.

hi - I am hoping to get a Happy Holidays themed cake for my two little boys to celebrate the start of our first ever Christmas at WDW. We are staying at BLT and will be eating our first evening meal at 1900 Park Fare - would it be better to request the cake to arrive to the room in BLT or to our dinner table at GF?

Many thanks for any info!:thumbsup2

this seems to have been overlooked so bumping if possible!!:thumbsup2

Based on what I've seen on this thread it seems that the cakes coming from CR are looking and tasting better than those coming out of GF. Hopefully some people that have had cakes at either, or both, will give you some more info.

We'll be staying at BLT in May and our anniversary is the week before our trip. Part of me really would love to have a cake made at CR but based on my recent huge disappointment of my birthday cake at AKV an even bigger part of me says "No". At this time I'm not sure which part will win but I know which part DH will tell me to listen to.

I asked the bakery in Oct about them. They said they have both mickey and Minnie every day. They can get them from the back. You could get them same day. I am doing this instead of a cake. Not a big cake eater but love Rice kirspie treats. Don't have to worry about it spoiling. You can take it with us.

I was looking through the info on the cake hotline and personalized cake and paused over the fact that they would not make Winnie the Pooh cakes.

I was actually planning on ordering an Eeyore cake for my wife's birthday, but I will work something out. My question here is: why not? Don't the bakers like Winnie the Pooh or is there some complicated license rights issue at work here?

Does anyone know?

So, I decided to call and try to order a custom cake. Since our first ADR for dinner is at Kona, I called the Poly ordering number and spoke with someone who wasn't all that helpful. She really only offered me the basic 6" cake or one with an edible image. I explained what I was looking for and she said that they don't do those there.
I then called back and connected to someone at the Contemporary. This person was much more helpful. Since we are staying at Bay Lake Tower, I just asked that it be delivered to our room. I ordered an 8" cake that is going to have a painted solid chocolate Donald Duck on top. I just asked that the colors be bright and suited to a boy. I truly hope this cake comes out like I hope! I will be sure to take photos and post after our trip!

Just got off the phone with the Disney cake hotline. It seems they do make Winnie the Pooh cakes now. I asked about it and I could order an Eeyore cake just fine. That is going to make DW happy :lovestruc

Jerseydisfan -- first off, congrats on your anniversary!!!!:goodvibes Your cake came out amazing -- hope you and your family had a fantastic trip.

JERSEYDISFAN,

That was SOME cake! Wow! Did your wife know that cake was coming? Congratulations on your Golden Anniversary! We are celebrating our Silver Anniversary at WDW with our sons in a couple of months.

I was so happy with our Tinkerbelle cake from Sept, I just ordered another one. We had an accident getting out of the car that night and dropped the Tink statue. So my dd's birthday is March 4th. We are headed to Orlando the 5th. Not staying at Disney as we need to stay near the competition my dd is doing (trampoline and tumbling). However we are headed to The Wave on the night of the 5th as a little Disney fix. Called and talked to Sally and she remembered the cake. Only change is the banner. It will now read "Happy 13th Birthday Aspen". So anyone at The Wave on March 5th is welcome to come and have some cake with us. Our reservation is 6:45 so sometime after that we should get the cake. You can't miss the cake or my dd.....LOL.

DD is DH's favorite character, so I had this cake done for him. I know that it isn't exactly for a 5 year old, but Donald can be done!

Thanks for the photo! I have searched all over to see what the solid Donald looks like and could not find it anywhere. I don't think our cake will be as nice as yours, as I just got buttercream frosting instead of fondant, but I think for a 5 year old it will be good. I am also understanding that Donald will be painted with his blue shirt and hat, but I could be wrong. I think we will just be surprised when we get there!

Ok we are going in March to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. Its just DH and I the kids will be hangin with Grammy, which sometimes I think is more fun for them then WDW. So I am thinking of getting a cake but don't know from where. I would like to get one in our room but we are staying at AKV kidani and not sure if its possible. If it is does anyone know the options.
On our anniversary we are dining at Narcossee's so I know that is another option. We are also dining at CRT and I want a chocolate slipper do I call the cake hotline for that as well?

Thanks so much I've learned a ton from the 20 pages I've gone through and I still have a ton more to go.

It is possible to have a cake delivered to your room at AKV Kidani. But..... (take this for what it is worth because I was very unhappy about my cake and will never do it again) I wouldn't recommend it. There are at least two cakes, in this thread, that were from AKL/AKV that were really great looking and then there was mine...

.

Mine was a 6" vanilla cake with chocolate mousse filling and buttercream icing. This beauty of a cake  cost around $80. We threw half of it away and that was with four adults and three kids willing to eat it - it was tasteless. If you really want something in your room personally I'd suggest calling private dining and see if they have something like chocolate dipped strawberries or something like that.

Sorry for the negativity regarding an AKV cake but I was very disappointed and had been looking forward to it for months.

DD's 7th birthday cake from June 30, 2009...A Little Late!

Yachtsman Steakhouse
June 30, 2009
Marble Cake
Dark Chocolate Mousse Filling
Chocolate Butter Cream Icing
Pink Marble Fondant
Hand Painted White Chocolate Minnie
Fondant Bows (DD loves Minnie's accessories)
Fondant Twist Piping

It was fantastic, except for the fact that her name was spelled wrong. We loved it so much that that fact didn't even matter.

I called and told them what I would like. The pastry sous chef called me back and I emailed pictures of what I liked. She called me again and we talked. The two weeks before our arrival, the head pastry chef of the YC/BC called me back and we talked for a half of an hour to get it planned out just right!

It turned out even better than I expected! DD was so overwhelmed as you can see in the background! Her favorite character is Minnie and she loves pink...it was a HUGE success! The YC/BC pastry team is AWESOME and I plan to order an anniversary cake this summer to surprise DH!

Now, let's see if my photos will post! Wish me luck!

It starts out with them distracting DD with a cupcake and she was floored by this! See the cake in the back?

She dug in the cake on the other side...I think she likes it!
