Give a day volunteer search showing only American places?????

Remember that these blankets are going to children...they haven't been corupted by the idea of perfect yet. They will just love the blanket as something soft that is their own and was made with love and caring. They won't be pulling out a measuring tape to see if everything is perfect.

Just know while your making it that the child who gets your blanket will come to treasure it. Afterall this is what it is all about.

Ok blanket-makers, help me find the link! I want to get my boys involved in something and this sounds like a good start. What do I search for on the site?

A lovely lady at Fabricland (where I got the fleece ends for $4/yard) suggested to use masking tape to mark out the 3" inset on every side then use that as a guide so you dont cut any further than needed. Also it made for perfectly square 3" corner cuts and just peeled right off after! My sides were stretchy too!

Do you mean that you applied the masking tape along the length and width of the blanket before you cut your corners?

I used the tape idea this time. Cut out a cardboard piece that was 4" wide ... set it along the edge of the blanket and taped at the top all the way across. My friend (who made 5 in a couple of hours one night) laughed hysterically, as she has made many of these, and is able to lay out the material, and just cut away. She actually did two pieces of fabric at a time!

Crafty I am NOT, and I can make these blankets. :thumbsup2 Of course, that's with the help of 12 yr old DD! LOL

Exactly, so what I ended up with looked kinda of like a tape rectangle 3 inches inside the fabric rectangle but crossed on the corners (does that make any sense?!?!)

Thank you all for your advice with my blankets! It does make sense to me now and I will be trying it all again on Sunday!

So here's the deal. I signed up on Friday Jan 15th, mailed the blankets out on Sunday Jan 17th, Volunteer Canada recieved them Wed Jan 20th, pending verfication notice on Fri Jan 22, voucher email in my box on Sun Jan 24. It only took a week from when I mailed it to being able to print them off. I can't believe how easy this activity was and it was great that it included my DD 11. I even printed off copies for our scrapbook because they are really cute with Donald on them. This was a great family activity.

Pics of the blankets?

Sorry..no pics yet. I'm fairly new to the boards and haven't even looked at how to up load pics. Not to mention not overly computer savy. Any advice on how would be appreciated. Hopefully not to complicated.

Many thanks to all the Dis'ers who passed along the info on the blanket making-I am printing my vouchers as I type this! I cannot believe how fast that was, I sent them to Ottawa last Wed Jan 20th. I just check the "manage your account" section and they were ready to print!!!! So again, many thanks, lots of pixie dust and much aloha to everyone, the Disboards are wonderful!! Suzanne:cheer2:

I have entered my email address twice now for the blanket making and am still waiting for the next step...did I miss a step, it said they would send me something to my inbox...help please... :confused3

Oh the irony, after I posted I checked my email, and it was there, I registered my family, and they gave me a date of completion, however, it then referred to a tool kit that I should have downloaded, but I never saw a link or anything for this, how do I find my tool kit now??

Just sent our 5 blankets on Sat. Opted for cheap mail route though so I won't expect our vouchers for at least a week.

Can't wait:banana::banana:

The tool kit is really only the directions for making the blankets as well as the address you mail it to in Ottawa. You can go and search Project Linus(this is the american site) on the internet and you will find the blanket directions on this site. It really is very easy. If you need more help(mailing address ect) please PM me and I will give you more information.

Me too! Just printed mine this morning. :cool1:

:headache: can't find my roll of brown package paper anywhere.

I'm giving up and just going to buy another one....then off to the post office to send my 4 blankets. My DD made the 'hugs' for 3 of the 4 blankets. She found it too difficult to tie the knots.

How has everyone been sending their package....regular mail or express post???

We sent our blankets in today. Luckily we live in Ottawa so we just dropped them off downtown. The volunteer mentioned that many people were not including the photos and a number of people hadn't even signed up on the disney site. So just a reminder to include photos and the paperwork required. Our family really enjoyed this opportunity.
