PART 15!!!
We left DCA shortly before it's official close at 6 PM as to avoid the DL rentry rush when everyone left DCA. We had several favorite rides we had to hit up and only had just above 2 hours to do it as the park was closing at 8.
We quickly walked down Main Street and cut though NOS on our way to Critter Country.
We had FP's for Splash from earlier in the day. The sun was almost gone and it was getting cool, but we were determined to get one last ride in.
After Splash, we made a mad dash back to Indy, as we already agreed that it would be a last ride must.
I've named this one "Spike"
After we got off Indy, we figured out that we had enough time for a Matterhorn run if the line was around thirty minutes and then time to ride SMGG one last time before going to Main Street for the fireworks.
Luckily, we have become expert disney planners due to the DIS, and we were exactly right in our timing.
We made it on Matterhorn within 30 minutes for a thrilling nighttime bobsled run down the mountain. I love this ride at night. It seems to go faster.
We left the Matterhorn and noticed that the line had almost doubled. We were very happy we got there when we did.
We rushed to SMGG, and with our FP's we only waited about 10 minutes...
After SMGG, we headed to Main St. to get a spot for the fireworks. We found a decent spot on the street just as DL was making announcements that the show may be cancelled as there were elevated winds that evening. I was really worried that we were not going to be able to see the fireworks again. Chris saved our spot as I went to the Candy Palace to pick up some last minute items. As soon as I was done I found Chris outside and took a seat. Right up until 8 they continued to make announcements, but suddenly the lights went out and the show began. I was thrilled!
We were so impressed with Halloween Screams we had to see it again. I took some video of the fireworks on my phone but the quality was really poor, so I have nothing to share. But there are a million youtube videos online if you have not already seen them.
Once the fireworks ended, I left Main St. with a tear in my eye, and we headed to the gates. We left the park and took a walk through DTD towards our dinner destination. The PCH Grill in the Paradise Pier Hotel. I had heard good things about their food and was excited to try it. Chris was going for a whole other reason.
Chris has a love for the TV show Man VS Food on the travel channel. If you have not seen it, the plot is this. The host of the show goes all across the country to different restaurants that offer some sort of eating challenge. The majority of the time, the challenge is the sheer quantity. Well after I told Chris about The Kitchen Sink, he was determined to eat one by himself.
After getting slightly lost on the way to the hotel, we arrived at the PCH grill and sat down. The waitress was friendly and the service was good. However, they were practically empty so I cannot imagine it would be that hard to provide good service.
Once again, we see Chris's game face come out. He was nervous.
While we were sitting there chatting, we met another wonderful DISer. It turned out that 2wildchildzmom and her family were sitting right next to us. We laughed and talked about our trips. She has a great TR on here too.
Chris and I told her boys about the hidden mickeys California Screamin and it seems that they were so excited when they found them. It was a pleasure meeting her and her family and it is great to put a face to the name.
When Chris ordered the sundae, the waitress did not believe that it was all for him. I assured her that i would not be eating any of it. But she laughed and said "Ok" as if she was humoring us.
I was very hungry so I ordered a chicken quesadilla and a bacon cheese burger...
Next, she brought out Chris's sundae.
This thing had 12 scoops of ice cream, 4 cookies, 2 brownies, a crunch bar, sprinkles, a whole can of whipped cream, chocolate sauce and caramel, with a handful of cherries on top. Chris could not help but laugh.
He dug in to it quickly like a animal tearing at it's prey. He got off to a good start.
Our new DIS friend and her family got one too. But they did the sensible thing and split it.
Chris continued to eat, but he started to slow down...
I love the look of pain and disgust on his face!
Shortly after, he admitted defeat....
In Chris's Man VS Food... it seems that food won.
Food won big time...
We left feeling very full, Chris a little sick and headed back to the hotel. Not long after lying down, we passed out. We had to get up early in the morning to go to Goofy's Kitchen and then head to the airport.
Well ladies and gentlemen, that was PART 15. I hope you enjoyed, there is one part left so stay tuned.
AS ALWAYS... IF YOU LIKED THIS PART, PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT. IF YOU ARE JUST LURKING, YOU SHOULD DO LESS OF IT! WE ARE ALL REALLY NICE.
