Worst Room View Pics Thread

on our last trip (april) my parents and my family stayed that the WL we ended up with the views of the dumpster/ unloading area well my father who was at Disney under protest anyway (he came for my son's 7th b/day but had a great time once he got there.. go figure) took one look at the room, calculated how much he was spending a night on the room and pretty much went through the roof :scared1:. He was very nice to the bellman that brought thier rooms belongings and our rooms belongings up but then asked the man, would you pay xxxx amount of dollars a night to look at dumpsters? The man started laughing and said "no" so my mother came to my room and said "your father is not happy about the view you might want to explain the type of room you got us" so I told him that it was standard and that it said that it could be a view of a parking lot. Well he still wasnt happy about it, he called the front desk area and the person that spoke to him stated that he could upgrade for another 300.00, needless to say this did not go over well with him so my mother went downstairs and spoke to the mgr. there, she explained the situation to him and he told her that he would see what he could do but couldnt promise her anything (this was easter weekend by the way) she told him she understood and went on her way. A little while later she called my room and told me that the mgr. had found another room for them it was very far away from our room but it was not over looking dumpsters, this room ended up overlooking the pool area. He was happy with this and ended up speaking to the manager and thanking him for making the room change during such a busy time. The mgr. told him that he understood and that actually a lot of people complain about that row (area) of rooms and their views. Parking lots are one thing but dumpsters blah!! we didnt move rooms though it wasnt a really big deal to us, and we got to see some fireworks over the trees which was pretty cool.

Here is our pool view at AKL in 2004. You can't hear the jackhammers though.

Disney Resorts really need to either cutback the trees or change the view category - so many water views are now a sliver of water through trees...we had one and could only see the river when the wind blew and trees moved a bit -then we caught a glimpse of the water. We did speak to the manager on duty and she changed our rate to std view.

The trees would have had me requesting a room change, but the spider would have had maintenance up there as soon as possible.

Actually, we did request and receive a change in rooms. I think we went from the ground floor to the fourth floor. I believe we could then see the pool. :)

I didn't think there could be any bad views at the Polynesian, but I got one! I got a great upgrade from garden view to concierge level garden view in Hawaii, room 3521, but my room view was non-existent:

Even though we had no view, I grew to like the room anyway. It was very private, and kept the room cool because the trees shaded us from the sun all day. Besides, how can you complain when you get a free upgrade to concierge, right? ;)

I would have to agree that the trees are a great way to cool the room from the hot sun. But when Disney is selling a room with a pool view you should see a pool form the room. Perhaps Disney needs to revise there room types or trim some branches.

Well, in Disney's defense, my upgrade was to a garden view, not pool view. The CM who checked me in said I'd have a great view of the pool...obviously he's never been in that room before! At night I could see the lights of the pool through the trees though ;)

I actually love this room. So, it wouldn't matter what view I asked for,
if I got this I would love it.

But my hubby and I don't care for pool view rooms. or dumpster rooms
either for that matter.

In August 2007, we received a similar upgrade to CL from a GV ressie. We were just below that in 2520 with a similar view but no balcony. No worries though. We're not really balcony people and the trees kept the room cool and added some privacy.

great idea. i have to say i would hate the roof views the most!

noticed no boardwalk inn rooms. anyone have a bad view here? i've stayed here 5 times, 4 of those were standard garden views, all very pretty views.

I'd have been camped in the hall way until they removed that spider!

Me too!

Maybe it's time for Disney Resorts to trim back some of the trees and bushes that sit directly in front of a balcony or window.

We had one of the white gravel rooftop views at the BC once, but the light bouncing off was so bright the curtains had to be closed or it hurt our eyes -after an afternoon we requested a room change. We lost our full balcony, but we had a nice inner courtyard view.

I'm going to WDW for the first time next month. I am so looking forward to taking photos that I will be able to contribute to different threads on DISboards.

This particular thread is NOT one I want to be contributing to!

But I must admit, it is an enjoyable read!

We've had rooftop view at BC in the past. Didn't complain, standard view is what it is. This summer, booked BC. We were in a corner room, you could see the pool looking off to the left. HUGE balcony - that was great! However, every day of hearing kid karaoke, etc. at the pool got old. They had the speakers cranked. I'm no fuddy duddy, I have a 12 year old and a 3 year old, but try getting a 3 year old to nap with the music blasting not easy. Didn't ask to be moved - the rest of our family were in 2 rooms close to us so we didn't want to be separated. When we were send a survey card I did respond and told them they may want to turn down the speakers a smidge due to napping kids. Man, I sound like my mom, but I swear I'm not THAT old!!!

Bump. This was becoming one of my favorite threads. I still get a kick out of Post #35. Has anyone gotten anything that tops these recently?

Hahah, this thread is awesome. Luckily, never have had a bad view at Disney. *knocks on wood* :cutie:
