Free Dining Watch 2009 - Dates Released!! Update post 1

Okay I'll just post that I am waiting patiently still.....trying to break up the debate that has started and is probably started in teh wrong thread. This is suppose to be a happy thread, lets keep it that way;)

I checked and last year I got the free disney visa offer on April 11 via ... I can't wait for this year!!!

You're right mermaid&cinderella.

And I totally forgot the real reason I came on here.

Speaking of checking best deals a few posts ago.. more than that now though.. I've decided to go ahead and book with the 40% pin code on the very last day it's available IF the FD dates haven't gone up. Because I can always shorten my stay with that and book two different reservations if FD starts part-way through my trip, which is a pain, but whatever. If it saves us 40+ dollars, which can be spent on something else, woohoo!

...I'm turning into my BudgetBoard mom (PinballFamily). Oh dear.

You know I have a friend who has a saying "there is no mean at WDW" do you think we could apply that here please!? You guys are arguing for no good reason. These boards are all about a mutual interest and helping each other out. I think waiting for FD is making everyone grumpy. I've decided to use a ta so I don't have to worry about what the best discount is. They will take care of it for me. If you are really freaking about it that is one option you have. Come on everyone take a deep breath and smile. :dance3::cheer2::grouphug:

I've been debating on using my 40% pin code just to make sure I get a deal . . . it sounds good, but when I add it up, it doesn't seem like such a great deal. On one hand, I can make it, cancel it, then book the FD. But if too many people book with the 40%, they may not feel like they need to offer FD. Like they were saying earlier, if the rooms are booked, you might have to change resorts. I wouldn't want to loose out on a room I want because I already have it locked up in the system.

But then again, what if there isn't a better deal offered :confused3

Although I agree with two above posters, just want to point out that I neither agree nor disagree with any of the posters, but don't like to see anyone fighting or the tone of the board changing! Bring on the Free Dining and hopefully we all get what we are looking for one way or another!

What does the 40% off give you? 40 % on the room only or the whole pkg? i never quite got it and figured why not ask....
The ultimate question is would you (or anyone) save more with FD? or the 40%? or 4/3 if extended?
Kinda new at this and the only way I will learn is to ask.:confused3

The 40% off code is just a discount on the room.

We are a family of 6 and always get two connecting rooms at a value for eight nights.

The 40% off code saves us $637.00

The 4/3 Deal saves us $750.00

The Free Dining promo saves us $1,540.00.

There is no better discount for us than free dining. If you only have one or two children and stay at a deluxe then the 40% code probably comes out as a better deal.

If you asked my three boys, YES... its worth it, but if you are going to do that, you might as well add on the water parks and more option to your park ticket for $50 and he can go there more than once. as for alone in the parks with a friend. yes... thats definately doable, depending on the maturity of your son. my kids all did that with each other. when my oldest was almost 17, I sent him off with his younger brothers, aged 14 and 10 and told them to keep together, the oldest had a cell phone at the time and then we had a set of walkie talkies . but the middle one did go off on his own and got back to the resort fine. so I wouldn't worry about it.
Last March we were down there with other family members... my then, 15 yr old several times acted as chaperone and tour guide for his two cousins... 14 and 13. My son had been there so many times, he knew his way around, they had never been there
:grouphug:

Thank you for the water parks and more suggestion! I hadn't thought of it and its a perfect addition for my son and his friends -- --

Anxiously waiting :surfweb: !!

Can someone please tell me the release date for free dining for the general public last year? I know it was in the first couple of days of April and I want to know when to start looking for it this year.

Thanks,
Kim

You are right, nothing compares to the free dining.
I got a quote and figured it is only $32.80 savings per Day per room for Value Season. -

If you call with that code and ask for moderate it is not even 33% discount off the room.

Hello,
Is your 40% off code a public one or a private offer? I couldn't find one and thought it may be good just in case, thanks

Our 40% off pin code was a private offer - sent to me via email. Other people have had their private 40% pin code sent to them via snail mail. Still others have booked a discount using bounceback (a deal made available to them while they were at WDW that can only be booked while still at WDW).

The pin codes are not transferrable - the person they are addressed to must be on the reservation.

HTH!

Anyone with a discount pin code should run the numbers themselves to see which deal saves them more. In our situation (staying at a value, one room, 2 adults, 1 junior and 1 child), FD saves us substantially more money than our 40% pin code. Our pin code saves us about US$300 total for a 7-night stay, whereas FD would save us US$130 EACH DAY. I did the math

In other situations such as less people, moderate or deluxe room, more than one room, etc., the 40% pin code could save them more (assuming they received a pin code).

It's strange that the moderate price you received wasn't 40% off the room cost, it should have been :confused3
