New Jersey - Favorite Restaurants?

I grew up in Wayne and I remember going to Victoria Station as a child, it was a real special treat!

Too funny - I grew up there as well!

My Dad and I always went to Libby's in Paterson or to Rutt's Hutt for hot dogs.

I used to eat the V & J's pizza growing up - it's not the same now. Vinnie's is pretty good, though!

There used to be an Italian place at the Wayne Hills Mall that was really good - it's closed YEARS ago. Does anyone remember the name?

I also used to live in Wayne! :D

Another Rutgers girl here! :cool1: Loved Stuff Yer Face and I used to go to Thomas Sweet on Nassau St. in Princeton when Ethan Hawke worked there. LOL

I remember the Spindletop had the best honey fried chicken. My brother and I loved it. Victoria Station was a treat and does anyone remember the Cider Mill?

I live just on the other side of the river in PA. now and love the Lambertville Station. I have to say I'm more of a DiLorenzo's girl and my favorite Italian place is Marsilio's. The Perriville Inn is also a fav, I think it's so much better than the Ryland Inn which imo is vastly overrated.

Has anyone been to the Lawrenceville Inn? What did you think? I have read mixed reviews.

I forgot to mention a place we LOVED in high school...The Saw Mill in Seaside Heights. Wow we thought that was great after a night of drinking.....cheap, giant slices of pizza!

Have you tried the Hickory Hog in Point Pleasant? Someone told me that the owner there used to work at the Southern House. I think it's true, because the ribs are just as delicious.

How about some westfield restaurants? we love Theresa's, Mojave Grill and Isabella's and Ferrara's is a staple! Splash of Thai has the best Pad Thai- it's delicious!!

Me too! But I need the Disco fries for extra added artery clogging. :thumbsup2
I also hung out at Milk Barn & The Wayne Hills Mall! ( I can't remember that restaurant in there though)
So many people know Pompton Queen - and it does look great now. Spindletop, Mother's, lol, funny to see that here.

We used to hang at Brother Bruno's. I went there last year and :scared: not the same owners anymore.

Does anyone remember 'The Lantern' on 46? And Teddy's texas weiners? I remember Libby's.

I went to Lobster Shanty as a kid when my DGPs lived in Tom's River.

When we lived out west, we missed diner and 'hole in the wall' type places. I've been making up for it ever since!

EDT- I forgot to ask what kind of 'shady' stuff goes on at Franklin Steakhouse? :listen: popcorn::

Being that I spent my childhood in NJ, and was never a big "restaurant" person in my early 20's..Here are my local favorites..as a kid at least...

BTW...born and raised in Cape May, NJ

Sam Pizza - Wildwood Boardwalk
Mac's Pizza - Wildwood or Ocean City Boardwalk
Curly's Fries - Wildwood Boardwalk
The Pilot House - Cape May
The Bellvue - Rio Grande
The Washington Inn - Cape May (DH was best friend with the sous/head chef)
Old Country Buffet - Hamilton Mall area...

I worked at Meyer Brothers dept. store in Wayne Hills Mall for 3 years or so and I'm trying to think what restaurant you're talking about. Was it in the mall itself or a separate building?

Brother Bruno's up the turnpike by William Paterson? Yeah, I worked at Willy P. too and we would do lunch there once in a while.

Yep, remember the Lantern too.

What, no S. Jersey love?

There are tons of restaurants here! There are some wonderful non-chain restaurants that are fabulous.

Caffee Aldo Lamberti - Cherry Hill
Italian Bistro - Cherry Hill (now gone)
Nagoya- fabulous hibachi place - Cherry Hill

There is restaurant row in Collingswood - it is basically an entire downtown area devoted to restaurants.

Lived in NJ till 2004, two of my favorites-

Buzzy's in Piscataway- I love their potato skins.

Thomas Sweets in New Braunswick- Best ice cream ever, nothing like a blend in-yum!

I'm not sure - someone else mentioned it, I can't think of any that was in there at the moment. I do remember a yogurt place being in there at one time though. When I think of restaurants right there, I always think I-Hop or China Paradise. I still go there for Burlington.

I remember Meyer Bros. And it is so funny to hear someone here say 'Willy P'. Did you ever go to Big Jim's in Haledon, too? :)

This is interesting: One day last week, I had on the People's Court waiting for the news to come on. A guy on that show was suing Calico Kitchen for getting sick there!

Hot Dog Johnnys- Buttzville
Charlottes Web -Dover
Angelos- Atlantic City

Can't anyone give me some restaurants in the Western NJ area? We're in western Morris County and can get easily to Hackettstown, Budd Lake, Sussex, over into areas of Warren or go east towards Dover/Denville area as well.

I've seen a few that I've heard of over the years, but I'm a NYC girl who married an East Brunswick boy. I know of a lot of these places from his stories growing up.

DH has been dying to take me over to Rutt's Hut but the thought of fried hot dogs is too much for my arteries!
