All the outfits are so cute. I can't wait to see Hannah's face when she gets Lisa's Cinderella dress. You can tell that they really loved all of the other beautiful outfits.

I got my ruffler and after 1.5 hours of learning how to attach it to my machine I finally got to try it out. WOW. It is great. It took little practice, but is so easy to use. I used it on about 20 yards of fluff for my first petti and I was able to finish it tonight. I plan to post photos tommorrow when my litte model is awake.

I think the BIG GIVE is wonderful and I look forward to participating.

I can't wait to see pictures of your petti! What color are you doing?

I just read that Aimee (Sewsensible) will be coming out shortly with a pants pattern for tweens and teens. I thought you ladies with older children would appreciate that information. Her patterns are easy to understand.

well, with that being said, you can count me in to send 4 disney theme coloring pages to each family from here on out. Complete with stickers, magical wishes and LOVE     . Ive never looked at it like that, but I know my kids just enjoy gettin mail (no matter how big or small) Thanks for cheering me up. :thumbsup2
I love this idea! I haven't been able to participate for a number of reasons and do feel bad about it but small simple things are a wonderful idea!
Sorry, we are OUT for buffets too risky with our food allergies. But I know you guys will have a blast! :goodvibes

I know 1st hand about food issues and I also know if you call the WDW restaurant ahead of time the chef will make sure what ever you want to eat is safe. They did it for my DD. A few places even told her what was on the menu and said if she would rather something else if they had it they could make it for her. Some of the buffet places also have no problems with bringing the person with the allergies a separate plate that has never been near the buffet with what they want to eat on it that is safe for them.

Buffets freak me out because I never know if my DD is going to be crying in pain after. In WDW I feel completely safe.

So now that the kids (and a jetlagged DH) are passed out from a long week at daycamp, and a trip to the Disney Store I have a few pics to post, and the time to do it  So here's a pic of me grinning like a fool at IASW!

And finally the first thing I've made with my ruffler, with fabric that I bought on clearance:

Oh, and Pirate shorts for Kieran to go with Niamh's twirl skirt:

I'm going to attempt a shirred sundress this week when the kids are at daycamp, and try to convince DH that I HAVE to go to WDW on my own in February:lmao:

Tonight I'm making hairbows for a birthday party tomorrow, and watch "What Not To Wear"

Bonne nuit les filles!

Stephanie

Really cute! Good luck with the sundress.

You know, I like the idea of sending simple things like stickers and crayons too. I'm not as creative, and overwhelmed with life at times, but would love to be able to send small impulsive things too. Is the Big Give open to these simpler things? I was even thinking a simple postcard from our area with well wishes and a book about local stuff might by nice for some????

I am so excited about this Idea! My sewing skills just isn't up to par with al of you and to send something for a strangers kids to wear when they are getting masterpieces form all of you is just embarrassing . Then add to the fact i have such little material since I am new at it it would get very expensive really fast. So This is the perfect solution!

... I broke my sewing machine. :sad1: I finally found the nerve (and the time) to try to make a storybook skirt for my DD - sat down and figured out the ruffler (thank you CarlaC for the free e-book!) - got my fabric cut - sat down at the machine and thought "Hmmm, I should change my needle, it's been a while." The needle was stuck in there, and when I finally grabbed some pliers to pull it out, the entire assembly fell off and I can't get it back on. :sad1: I know it's not a tragedy in the grand scheme of life, but I really wanted to sew tonight. And I'm supposed to sew with my MIL tomorrow.

:sad1:

Oh no! I feel your pain! I wanted to sew last night and in the middle of it my threader stopped working so I got so frustrated i went to bed. I told DH I need a new machine if i can't get it working! :rotfl: I am blind as a bat and there is no way I could thread that needle! In reality I need to find a needle threader and hope I can just use that.

I still can't get over how much you all have made me LOVe sewing! It feel so good to complete something and then look at your little one wearing it.

I just read that Aimee (Sewsensible) will be coming out shortly with a pants pattern for tweens and teens. I thought you ladies with older children would appreciate that information. Her patterns are easy to understand.

OOOHHH!!!! I can't wait to see it!

Yesterday was a nightmare for me. I had to have 3 neighbors help me get my dog in the car to get him to the vet. He is so sick. I am devastated he is my baby. Right now he is at the vet on IV they are not sure he will make it. My DH and my dd went to go see him last night. I had a long talk with my dd(8) about seeing him and she was very adamant she wanted to see him. So I let her. I couldn't go it was so hard seeing my baby like that yesterday. If the slow growing tumor he has (that they just found) isn't causing his runs once he gets a little stronger and stops having the runs he can come home and will probably live a few more yrs. If the tumor IS what is causing his problem then we have to do the hard thing. I am dreading everything.

Sorry to be such a downer but he is my baby. We are one of those families where the pets aren't just pets they are part of the family aka 4 legged kids. Him and his sister Daisy both sleep with me and my DH the puppies are kind enough to let us share their king size bed. Last night there was far too much room in the bed...

I'm not familiar with Sewsensible. Is it a website? Can you tell me more?

FIRST - I wanted to let everyone know that on the next round of Big Give, I'm going to add a category called PIXIE DUST - where people can sign up to do just this - send a card, a coloring page, a package of stickers, just whatever kind gesture that you fell is appropriate. I LOVE this idea, and i'm really excited to know that there are so many that would love to spread the magic in this way.

SECOND - I'm so sorry about your pup. We are a family that loves our pets like children as well. I know how difficult it is when you have one that is not feeling well. To have to make a decision for their best interest is just devestating sometimes. Hugs to you and your whole family! :grouphug:

I LOVe the pixie dust section Idea!

Thank you for the wishes for Rocky. My ds yesterday asked if tink could spread some pixie dust to help Rocky. It broke my heart. I told him she will put pixie dust in what ever way she feels Rocky needs it. He seemed ok with it.

QUESTION?? HELP!

What does it mean when you thread your machine and you can tell it is threaded perfectly then you try to sew and it does a stitch or 2 and it isn't threaded any more? When it does the stitch it makes this weird almost dropping sound in the bobbin. So i checked the bobbin and it is threaded perfectly and wound perfect. I have changed needles since I thought maybe the original needle was broken. My threader isn''t working so I am doing it the old fashioned way. So needless to say I am about to throw the machine out the window!.

Just catching up this morning...didn't get to sign on last night. Took DD to see Kit. Very cute btw. Although I think it might have traumatized DD because she keeps asking if her daddy is going to go away to chicago to look for work!!!

Beautiful work over the past few pages.

Thanks so much! Now I totally feel more able to participate!

:rotfl: Not quite big enough for him! He did ask me this morning when I put on the MM shirt if anyone would see him! I had to assure him that it was a boys shirt and after that he wanted to wear his own!

Poor Dallas! You've made him suspicious of everything now, lol!

Awww thanks! You know what's funny? I never had any other girls named Stephanie in school, until college! I took a Psychology of Women class and there were 6 Stephanies in that class! But after that I've hardly met any adult Stephanies! Oh, and I HATE being called Stephie, ugh!

I don't meet many Stephanies either. My husband's grandfather calls me Stephie and I hate it but I can't correct him because he is a very sweet man. My husband thinks it's hilarious!

Awww, I am so sorry! I hope you can get it fixed soon (or better yet, get a new one).

That is so sweet! So, how old are you going to be??? ;)

Younger than you and older than Heather. :)

Sewsensible is one of the authors on YCMT.com. She is the author of the Boutique top and pants patterns and the twirl skort. I love her patterns just as much as CarlaC's patterns.

Whenever I hear strange noises, I take everything out and oil it. After you oil it, sew on a scrap piece of cloth so the extra oil ruins that and not what you're sewing. HTH!

 I feel your pain. I know how special those little guys can be. I was crying the other day when the thought the crossed my mind that one day Tinkerbell will pass on. I got to thinking about how special that little fur face has become to me and I couldn't bare the thought of losing her. I hope that your fur-baby gets better and will have many more years with you and your family.

Minnie2- It sounds like your needle may be in backwards. I was convinced that my machine was broken, because it kept doing the same thing over and over again. I finally picked up the manual and under troubleshooting I found that these problems were caused by putting the needle in backwards. I felt really stupid when I turned the needle around and the darn thing started sewing again. HTH

I am so upset that I waited so long to do my futon covers...they were so easy to do and in less than two hours the furniture look brand new:cool1: I chose a cheap fabric as I did not wanted to mess up expensive one, but now that I know I can do it I will go order a nice fabric:cool1:

all together I spent
2.00 yard 100"wide cotton for 10 yrs = 20.00
1.00 for the thread

so $21.00 (I used the zipper from the old covers)

Great job Linnette! Now if I could only get you to make slipcovers for the benches in my tent trailer! Oooh, I shouldn't say that. Knowing you you would do it! :rotfl:

 So sorry about your doggie! My new baby is not yet 3 months old and I don't know what I'd do without my furry baby!

We are going to Dutch Wonderland in just a few weeks - probably August 4 or 5. We are going on our annual summer visit to the inlaws who live just outside York PA. If only you knew how ewxcited I am to go back to York (notice any sarcasm?).
I vaguely remember someone making Dutch Wonderland customs last summer. Does anyone remember who that was?

Happy Birthday, Steph!

My birthday was last week - DH got me a JoAnn's gift card ($25), my sister got be a JoAnn's gift card ($25), my mother got me a JoAnn's gift card ($50)AND a Sidewinder.:cool1:

Happy Birthday newbie and steph!!! :bday: party:

I am not sure but I did make custom Princess Brook and Castle appliques to put on pink store-bought dresses last year....is this what you are thinking of????

I did the castle with colored thread mostly since I had no idea how to do an applique at the time....Princess Brook was my first one

OT-- some pics of my kids. I haven't had time to sew them anything but the Walle shirts (and those pics won't come off my small camera ARGH!!). So here are some I took today.

J lost his tooth yesterday. It has been loose for probably 2 months. He had no desire to mess with it. Some kid colided with him yesterday at day camp and it fell out. He was very excited.
IMG_2750.jpg

Last night he asked a ton of questions about the tooth fairy. He wanted to know EVERYTHING including where the tooth fairy took and kept the teeth she collected. I told him "the tooth palace". He was so excited that she had "drawn a picture of the tooth palace on his money" He is going to be disappointed when he finds out it is the Lincoln memorial.
