Thanks for all the compliments on the zoo dresses. They were fun. The fabric was from a local quilt shop. I wish I bought more but I didn't. :( Anyway . . . the babes dress is a Simplicity pattern 3511. I loved it. It goes from size 1/2-4. Can't beat a 99 cent pattern.

I love the little one's outfit too- I love that pattern. I never seen to get the 99cent patterns here- they are just 60% off or something.

On an off topic (I know, Im sorry, Im always going off topic!)
This week my husband agreed that we would have NO TV Mon, Tue and Wed night. I have to say, I really enjoyed it. Last night wasnt quite as great, I ended up giving Megan a bath and DH got on the laptop and that was sort of the end of the evening, but still better than TV in my opinion. DH is a bit of a news-tv aholic. He has always been, he says he picked up being single for so long....
I'm hoping he will agree to at least 2 no TV nights next week!
No TV also means no sewing, etc, the idea is to spend the time talking or reading together and being with each other.

Just had to share- my oldest graduated K last week. I am so proud of him. Here are a few pics-
IMG_1459.jpg

Both boys together after the graduation (Cooper is wearing something that I smocked and made for Jackson when he was 2!)-
IMG_1620.jpg

And leaving- he couldn't get out of the shirt and tie fast enough. Oddly enough, he picked the outfit himself. He wouldn't wear the polo type shirt I had out for him. he wanted the tie!

We are off to the world NEXT WEEKEND!! Can't wait!

That's a good idea. That way you guys can have some family time together. That's what we need around here.

WOO HOO! Just booked my October Disneyland trip! I even booked the Disneyland Hotel because I have wanted to stay there ever since I was a little girl and the monorail stopped there (wish it still did!) And I think at some point in my life I should really experience each of the 3 DLR hotels, right? Especially since I hardly ever get to go to Disneyworld!

Thanks for all the advice on which pattern to buy. I already have the simply sweet one (many suggested that one!) so I bought the strip work dress. I like how the top is a little different that the simply sweet dress. I am using it for her little einsteins dress...although she is going through a growth spurt so I won't start it yet!

I made Lily a ladybug outfit to match the one I made her cousin. At least it is warm enough to take pictures outside! (and I even weeded my garden!) Sorry for the bad photos, my camera was on the wrong setting.

It is so cute. And your little one is adorable!

Today we hit the zoo for a preschool field trip. The girls had a great time and really enjoyed their "zoo dresses." We even saw a baby elephant named Samson. He was so cute!

th_DSCF9004.jpg

Those dresses are so cute. I told my mom I need to start making outfits for all different outings. We are going to the montains in a week and I need a mountain dress....

You're right of course, it is different for girls than boys.

th_IMG_0501.jpg
th_IMG_0499.jpg

It doesn't match, perse, but I like it and she seems to like it. I haven't fiquired out what to make to go with the pettiskirt yet. I know it doesn't do well in car seats!

here are the photos of Lily's pettiskirt top. It is just a tank top from Old Navy with a crown applique. I used my Aurora crown from my cricut and just traced it onto my heat 'n' bond. It was a little tricky to applique for a novice like me :confused3 Then I glued some bling on with E6000--my first ever experience with E6000--I loved it! I just hope the washing machine does too! :lmao: Some day I'll have a photo with a model. I used the sparkly pink fabric from Joanns for the crown and it matched really well (especially after all that ironing with the heat 'n' bond).

th_IMG_0233-1.jpg
th_IMG_0235-1.jpg

And here are my ribbon shorts. Lily had nothing to match this t-shirt so I had to make something. I haven't tried them on her yet.

th_IMG_0236-1.jpg

The top came out great! Love the crown. And the shorts are wonderful! I love ribbon on clothing.

Does anyone remember where the directions were posted to make the disc biscuits. You could use them to put on clothes or on hairbows? I remember seeing it but I can't find it now. Thanks. Missy

This thread moves very fast, I missed a couple of days and had a lot of reading to catch up on! I finally bought needles and bobbins for my new/old sewing machine and I am going to give the machine a test drive soon so I can finally start to make my girls some outfits.

SoHappy-Yea for the boy post! You should be proud of them. Cute, cute! I especially get all warm & fuzzy over little brother photos, since I too have two little boys!!:goodvibes Just came from my little one's Kindergarten grad party also. How do they grow sooo fast? Sniffff!

Jhammy-your crown applique is perfect!! Would never consider you a novice, it looks great!! Love the tab shorts with the light blue Disney World top! Congrats on the DLR hotel!! We're going in Dec., but staying at a Good Neighbor Hotel for the 1st time. We love the DLR Hotel!!

 Anyone who appliques with Meltler thread, need a little help here.
I'm working on finishing up my Cinderella/I Love Lucy apron. The Metler thread is being a little more than un-cooperative:headache: !! I don't know if it's the skinny long shape of the thread cone or what. It jumps around on the machine's spool & is hard to load bobbin thread from. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance for any advice.:)

Just wanted everyone to see the Alice I just finished. I am super proud of it. And we are HUGE Fans of alice in this house!!

Okay, can you come to my house? Not for Megan, but for my husband...he's really bad about cleaning stuff....

:rotfl2: Definitely!!

You are a brave girl banning the TV!! That would never go down in our house. Jay's brain is too busy to sit in silence. He would be so distracted by the lack of noise that he wouldn't be able to HAVE a conversation. We go on "dates" away from the house and television so we can talk. It works better for my type A, obsessive compulsive, but completely darling husband!!!

See Miss Cammie and Tinka Bell advice below...they beat me to it!!!

My husband and I just finished a marriage seminar but one of the segments was about parenting. We talked/learned about "Kid CEO's" and how to remove the kids from the corner office. They tend to sit down in the big leather chair and try to direct us around as if we, the adults, are they're servants! While we don't need to "fire" them, we do need to demote them and take back our God-given power. This way we can "train" them up, modeling adult behavior, help them with choices and in the end, send them on their way. Remember, ultimately, they are only on loan and they should grow up and LEAVE! :cheer2:

that's good advice! I tell parents who bring their "out of control" children to see me to STOP letting the kids drive the boat! We're not their friends, we don't have to worry about them "liking" us...we are their parents and our job is to raise people who can start their adults lives without a chip on their shoulder a mile wide thinking they are ENTITLED to something.

Have y'all seen the commercials for Dr. Phil's "Brat Camp"...oh my word...these children are examples of permissiveness gone WILD. It handicaps kids...giving them everything and allowing them to dictate to their parents what they will and will not do...

The word NO is our friend!:teacher:

so so so so SO cute!!! as usual! darling!!!:goodvibes

Here is what I made today, completely my own idea (ha!). I did the more modest halter top from CarlaC with elastic thread in the back instead of one piece of elastic and I like the way it fits, although I liked the other one too. I can't tell much of a difference (maybe I did the old one, lol).

I don't like it though. It doesn't seem like it matches the pettiskirt at all. I should have picked a solid color for the ruffle, I think the stripes are too distracting. I don't know if I should start again and chuck it or what. I am a little depressed, I thought she could wear it to the princess lunch on her birthday and now I have to start over.

IMG_0500.jpg

IMG_0501.jpg

IMG_0499.jpg

awww, I like it!!!! Megan seems to like it too!!! I think we all got that petti!! I don't know if Sally will wear it...unless I MAKE her...which I might...b/c i'm MEAN! :flower3:

maybe a plain tank with an applique on it for the petti and make a cutie skirt to go with the halter?

my untrained eye thinks it looks great...but I know what you mean...if it's bugging you, then it will continue to bug you and then you can't have any fun watching her wear it!

SO get that!!!

If you can do skirts, this is the easiest skirt I have made for my 5th grader. I'm sure you could just wing it but I think Teresa put my instructions in her bookmarks.

IMG_0121-1.jpg

it looks cute with a t-shirt or peasant top--you could make it with the solid pink and the peasant top the same, and do the border out of a print and the peasant top sleeves to match the border, then it would kinda look like a dress. :confused3 or as someone mentioned, you could do the pillowcase/halter style and make it longer as a dress. She would probably need a tshirt under it though. (ignore the squinty face)

etsyboutique021-1.jpg

LOVE the "big girl" outfits! Again...so stuff I would wear myself!!!

I like your halter. I think it came out great! I agree with you though, that it doesn't seem to go. I didn't think mine went with the pettiskirt either..LOL. but I guess the problem is more that the fabrics are different. It's hard combining cotton with a dressier fabric. I would make her a little twirl skirt to go with the halter and maybe make something else. You seem to whip them out faster than all of us...I'm struggling to just get a skirt done. I have a cold and don't like sewing when I'm sick...or doing much else

I think we are passing germs over the Disboards! I sound like a SEA lion with my barking cough and I'm sniffling and sneezing. I am NOT happy. I am in a fight with everyone until my cold goes away...b/c THAT is the rule.

*ahem*

and people have to bring me stuff...and tell me I'm pretty...

*SNIFFLE*

feel better soon dahlin!!!

I LOVE the shorts!!! Are they difficult to make?

(I ask that like I'm not afraid of the sewing machine!!)

How hold was your oldest DD when little Lily was born? (if you don't mind my nosiness!)

WOW!!! The Disneyland hotel ROCKS!!! It's kinda old school in a classic Disney way...I haven't been since FOREVER ago...it may have been refurbished since i was there, but it was so fun to stay there!! I think the monorail still went to the hotel when I was there...it was about five or six years ago...it doesn't stop there anymore? What do Disneyland-ers think? It's a RIDE or something?!
:lmao: ;)

two years ago I went and got to stay at the Grand Californian...VERY nice...it's like the Wilderness Lodge kinda...it's RIGHT smack in the middle of Downtown Disney!

YAY for Disney anything!!!:cool1:

what dates are you going. I am waiting for the school break to be announced for next school year and we are planning.!!! Would love to meet up!

Awwww....

DH got Pooh's Heffalump Movie on Netflix and brought DD down to watch it on the big tv tonight- he was so thrilled, she layed on top of him and watched the whole thing, pointed out "Pooh" "Roo" and emotions "sad" etc...- mommy came down for the last quarter of the movie and she came and sat with Mommy and then when it was over asked to go to sleep.
....days just dont get any better than that....
sigh.....I dont want her to grow up.....

Night all

PS. My Minnie dot fabric arrived today in the most fabulous package from Tinka Belle, aka Crystal and I can't decide which pattern to do.

I didnt know if I should do some sort of top and shorts set. Like portrait peasant with ruffles and then shorts.
or a sundress type look.
OR use the portrait peasant dress, extend the bodice to knee length and add a ruffle to the bottom of that....possibly adding in some yellow or black fabric...

Suggestions?

I don't let the girls wear their pettis in the car. They wear knit shorts and then I put the petti on over the shorts, and if the shorts aren't visible, they just keep them on. I'm afraid of them snagging them on the seat belt or strap from the booster seat.

It is midnight here. We have less than 24 hours till we leave. I finally finished Jenna's Pirate outfit and I still have three nightgowns and one Epcot outfit to make. I hope I can get everything done before we leave tomorrow. I don't need sleep do I?

NO sleep for you!! SEW SEW SEW!!!

NO sleep for you!! SEW SEW SEW!!!
:lmao: I'm just taking a break right now. I think that I can do the three nightgowns in an hour if I hussle. I just need a quick break than back to the sewing table. Lucky for me Jenna is staying at my grandparents house tonight and tomorrow, so she is not in my hair.

How fun!! They both look adorable!! Great Job!!
There have been so many wonderful outfits and so many of you look like you had WONDERFUL trips. I am jealous of all of you!! Still trying to catch up but you'll be onto a new thread before I do probably. We are trying to get online at home since soon I will be going to school ***FULL TIME-NO WORKING AT THE SUCKY JOB CAUSE I AM NOT GOING BACK!!!****
I am recovering from my surgery though I am surprised at how sore my foot still is (2.5 weeks later) it was just about a 3/4" cut.
...t.
Hope you heal up quickly! Good luck with school and all the planning for your trip!!! I just bought ds some new clothes today- Jeans and t-shirts- The 4t clothes just look so small now, He is just growing up to fast!!! And Yay for your ds asking for stuff for him to wear too!!
Here is the other skirt that I finished for Parker to wear to school this morning for her teddy bear picnic.

Before school:
th_Monkey1.jpg
th_Monkey3.jpg
th_Monkey4.jpg

She was mad this morning b/c the bear had a skirt and not shorts. I finally convinced her that the bear was a girl and not a boy. I think the bear probably needs a shirt or something. I'm not going to make it a peasant blouse b/c I don't even like making those for Parker. I'm thinking a little bikini looking top -- what do y'all think?
Parker looks so cute- bow or no bow!! Please don't be mad, but maybe cut the bow tie off the bear, I think that makes it look more boyish - I love the bows on the ears!!
Another drama to add;

My son's elementary school is very small (less than 200 kids) so is very family oriented, I belong to the PTA (low in funds) and I was asked to sew some dresses (5 ) for 1 prek, 3 kinderg, 1 fifth grader ;these kid' s parents are not able to dress them for the promotional ceremonies in June (parents already asked for the help) I was given 30.00 for supplies. The good news is that I approached the owner at the fabric store that I always go to and he will be donating most of the fabric, (cotton) nothing fancy but free. He will give me pink or white solid and the thread....

Now I need help deciding what styles. I am thinking not a lot of ruffles (to make it easier and faster for me) but...WHAT STYLES WILL LOOK BETTER? (I would like to keep it simple) I was thinking for the prek to make the halter dress that I made with lace and tulle to make it fancier, the others I have no Idea specially the fifth grader.

Ideas PLEASE!!!!!!!!
I don't think I'll be much help mine are 2 & 4. But I wanted to give you a pat on the back for taking that on and helping people. Giving the kids a nice outfit to wear to the ceremony will mean so much to them and their parents!

Don't throw it out!!! I think the others had a good idea with just using a white top with pink accents. And megan can always use a twirly skirt to go with the crown top.
