I'm impressed that you remembered! I wimped out on making a shirt out of that fabric. It was sheer and I've never worked with sheer fabric before. I've also never made anything for myself. I wasn't sure what size pattern to use for my weird shape and I wasn't sure what kind of shirt to make. I'm full of excuses!!

I don't blame you for wimping out on that fabric. It was pretty hard to sew & I even broke down & used pins which I never do. I never did get my shirt to fit the way I wanted it to. I was told it looked fine (and Minnie seemed to like it), but I wasn't happy with it.

Love the customs everyone has been posting! I really need to manufacture some time so I can do some sewing!

Oh, I had to share this story with you girls

back story- I got fabric and a pattern to make DH a shirt out of this Mickey/Goofy surfer fabric and showed it to him and said if theres enough left over I will make a little Aline matching top for DD- he was happy.

So then tonight.. I have parts of the PPDP cut out and was showing DH and he said "I thought you were making me a shirt?"
I had to explain, yes, I am indeed planning to sew a shirt for you- I just didnt say I was sewing it NEXT.
But now, since I showed him that patten I guess I HAVE to work in making a men's shirt at a minimum- but he wants DD to have the matching A-line too

Awwww! DH needs some TLC--and to be sure he and DD can wear their coordinating shirt/top at the same time! :)

This morning's accomplishment!

OMG THAT IS SOO CUTE!

Ok folks im a newbie here, I dont sew at all but hoping to get some ideas for my mom since she does. I have a 5 yr old boy so id like just a cpl of tshirts.
Cant do the little matching shirts and shorts i think he is a tad old for that now. I ordered a cpl of custom shirts off ebay for our first trip in Oct. '07 and they never came in I was soo disappointed. For our upcoming Sept trip I plan on having him something cute for a cpl of days.
This is a great thread, im going to check out the applique tutorial someone suggested.

My son is 5, so everything I make is for him unless it is shirt for me here or there. He loves it no matter what it is, but he doesn't go to school yet. I do try to stay away from something that looks baby-ish or for the younger ones.

I made him a Jedi mickey shirt a few pages back and he has several jeans with matching shirts outfits.

I think your shirt looks great!! Now I'm wishing I would have given it a shot. Oh well, I'll have to settle for my iron-on Minnie shirt and store-bought jeans!

This morning's accomplishment!

Just wanted to say :welcome:!!! I also wanted to encourage you to try sewing. I didn't sew when I started obsessing over this board last July, either. But, we can be a persuasive bunch!

 :yay:  There is dancing going on in Florida right now!:yay::banana:

DH and I had been talking about a cruise with Kaitlyn, but he's, well, anal about taking her out of school and summer/holiday cruises are sooo expensive!

So I go to price it out yesterday online and lo-and-behold, on Monday they opened up some Florida resident rates on 3-day cruises on the Wonder. June 5 is one sailing, her last 1/2 day of school. (There's also May 29 and a few after Labor Day.)

It's less than half the price of the 4-day cruise I wanted, for one less day. Hmmm. YES! :thumbsup2

The only bummer is that when I called the travel agent to reserve it (also my MIL) she informed me that that's the weekend they're having a baby shower for DH's preggo sister. (Which they can't move because she lives out of the country and that would cost me $800 for the family to fly to.) So we spent some time last night and this morning discussing it, and decided to ditch his family and do what's right by our family.

So now I have 5 weeks to update / make new outfits for the CRUISE and make a baby quilt for the shower. :scared: Oh, and figure out this cruising thing because it's our first ever!

And after the travel agent gets back from reserving the room for the shower I get to call her and explain to her that I need her to book me reservations not for plane fare but for a cruise! :rolleyes1 (Hey, she's getting commission out of the deal!:flower3: )

Thank you! I used the Simplicity Belle dress pattern for the bodice and then just kind of winged the bottom 1/2. I also put a zipper in, but the pattern called for velcro.

Thanks so much! I have the Simplicity Belle pattern already, as well as the Snow White and Sleeping Beauty one, so I am sure we can figure something out. I did just see that the Disney princess patterns are out of print so I am glad I got them when I did! Enjoy your trip!

I finished Lydia's Kennedy Space Center outfit today. She picked out all the fabrics and the pattern. :)

Lydia did a terrific job picking out the fabrics and pattern. It turned out wonderful. You keep cranking out the customs! How many suitcases are you planning on taking?

Thank you! Your wish is my command!

This is one of my all time favorite outfits.

I love this! I need one for my DS2.

So I finally started sewing again. I haven't touched my machine since February so it's been a while. I won't let myself make the things I want to make since I promised my sister some baby bibs. I finally go around to doing them and of course, broke two needles right away trying to do button holes! What a pain. Needless to say, no buttons on these bibs, it's going to be either velcro or snaps for her!

Once I get these done I can work on the stuff I want to work on! Yeah!

okay i am behind again GO FIGURE so i am lurking i would love to comment everyone's outfits individually but there is no way so WONDERFUL STUFF;)

We had our trip last week. Had a great time. We didn't tell DD til the morning of that we had reservations at CRT. (OH, hence mommy making the Cinderella dress. :rotfl: )

The step sisters, predicably, loved to hate it. I was kicking myself- we had the beads to go with it, forgot them in the hotel. Of course the one sister commented at least she wasn't wearing her beads. Lady Tremaine told the sisters to stand back, the dress was likely to fall apart due to its shoddy construction... DD thought this whole exchange hysterical (and reminded the sisters who got the prince in the end, lol)

She had a great conversation with Cinderella about the dress. C. told her she was going to be sure to show the picture the photographer took to her friends the mice because she knew they would love it. It was so cute, when we got our package, DD goes "I hope they remembered to print that other one for the mice to see!"

The unexpected Disney magic that day was actually at the Judges Tent waiting for Mickey! A CM complimented DD on her dress, told her she looked just like Cinderella, etc. Had we seen Cinderella yet (no, but CRT for lunch). I asked her if she knew if the mice might be out somewhere later. She went to check, but couldn't really find an answer. Started asking DD who she had seen, who she hadn't.... short version of this, she ended up taking DD to the front of the line for Donald/Goofy/Pluto. Then to Pooh/Tigger/Darby. And then gave her a front of the line pass for Ariel! (that line was an hour long- no way was I waiting, lol) Not quite an official "dream" but a definite bit of pixiedust: from Angelica in MK that day!! I like to think at least it had something to do with the dress. ;)

:thanks: to HeatherSue and I forget who it was who also posted a similar dress for the inspiration!!

i Definitely saw this little girl this past week in Disney. I wanted to ask mom if she was a disboutiquer, but the dress looked store bought to me...

We were getting off of the carrousel, and you were getting on. My DD was in this dress, and you complimented me on it:

I'm sorry I did't way anything. :sad2:

I love these! These are shorts you made from squares, right? Cute! I think Mike looks great!

She is so beautiful in those ruffles! Seriously, she looks like a moedel. I have passed by that fabric many times and almost bought it, it really looks nice, you did a great job!

They are all so cute, I'm glad you had a terrific time.

Cute! I am seriously envying those sandals. Is the bullying better? Jacob had a problem on the bus but he took care of it himself. I get so mad when bullies take advantage of sweet kids!

I love the bunnies, so cute! That is funny that you two picked the same fabric: great minds!

That's another fabric that I have almost-bought several times. It looks great as a scallopini skirt! I think a halter with it would be adorable. I did a Tink halter with capris and Megan got a lot of compliments!

First, your Cinderella dress for Arminda is breathtaking. Just gorgeous.

Second, how cute is this? Seriously, very cute! Lydia did a great job picking out the fabric.

This looks like something you would buy in the Disney store for lots of money! I love it!

Deb

Yay for the cruise! Can't wait to see what you'll make!

Heather, everything looks great! I love Corey and Henry's outfits!:rotfl:

Ugh, I have been lifeless and sluggish still. I made a purse for a friend of my mom's and that's it. I need to make a top for the pettiskirt for Megan's princess lunch and something with the cool Alice fabric I got for the tea party. I have no ideas.

I took Megan in for her check up and she has grown three inches this year! :scared1: No wonder all the stuff I made for her in September is hopelessly short!

Too funny! I remember you guys! I said something to DD about the cute little Tink :) Neither of us had our Dis Green on, huh? I'd left my green mickey heads in the hotel too. At least I remembered the child ;)

Please tell me you didn't see my daughter screaming on the carousel that her cousin got Cindy's horse instead of her, lol. Not one of the better moments of the trip :)

My name is Jord, I live with Morgan. Today "someone" was being naughty, so I went to have fun on my own. I went to MGM studios. Boy are my little feet TIRED!!!!

Once I arrived, I hopped on the tram.

100_5034.jpg

I slipped under the gate (CPK's don't need tickets :lmao: ) and met Rosie the wash woman.

100_5039.jpg

Then I figured I would do a little shopping. To bad these don't come in my size. :rotfl:

jord5.jpg

I crossed the street (not an easy thing to do when you are only 12 inches tall!) But I got across and ran into some people who wanted my autograph and picture.:confused3

jord1.jpg

I watched the HSM show.
And posed with some old friends.

jord2.jpg

After that, I ran into a "Dream Team" CM-she thought I was really cute!

jord4.jpg

After that I was kinda tired, little legs you know LOL. So I came on home. I need a nap!

Oh BTW HeatherSue, I heard you like my HSM outfit so I made sure to wear it today:cheer2: :cheer2:
