Your Disney Pet Peeves

I have a few..
-Smokers who smoke outside of the designated areas
-People who go into designated smoking areas then complain about the smokers (i don't smoke, but my dh does)
-Spitting...it's just gross. I sat my bag down next to the bench I was sitting on and a bit later picked it up and sat it on my lap to get something. Apparently i had sat it in spit, so not only was it all over my bag, it was now on my lap :scared1:
-I agree with the parade peeves already mentioned...we get there an hour early so we can sit and relax in a shadey spot. I hate when someone shows up right before and tries to weasle in.:crowded:
-Lastly...people who stand too close to you in line. It doesn't matter how close to me you stand, it won't make the line move any faster.

My pet peeves aren't exclusive to Disney, but do happen a lot there....
- Excessive PDA, especially teenagers
-Cursing. Don't people realize there are children around?

I can certainly see how an adult who has waited an hour for a prime spot for the parade doesn't like (nor should they!) being pushed aside by small children whose parents arrived 5 minutes before the parade. I would think a polite request would be the much better path! And I would hope that as long as the adult still can maintain their prime seat, allowances would be made.

Also, I would offer for consideration the fact that small children simply aren't able to sit/stand in one spot for that one hour and the parents knew better to come at the last minute for a spot. It's a catch-22. Come early and have squirming, fussy, cranky kids or come at the last minute and have eager, fresh, happy children. :)

There are a lot of things that people do at Disney that I would call pet peeves, but I try to ignore them as much as I can. However, I really can't stand when people just stop and sit in the middle of the row at an attraction... especially when they're one of the first groups in the room. It's not so bad if they'll stand up and let you get by them so you can sit on the other side of the row but there are people who will stay seated and then look at you like you're a jerk for trying to squeeze by them.:confused3

I have 2:

The will-never-change herding practices for getting people into and out of MK. Who's bright idea was it to slap a body of water between the parking lot and the park entrance? I'd like to tar and feather him (and yes I say him because it must have been a man). You can see that idea was ousted for all future park planning projects. My last trip there I was riding the ferry back to TTC after park closing and saying (what a horrible end to a terrific day, blah)

I'd guess that was probably Walt Disney himself. The plans were drawn up before he died. I think he wanted MK to be a "fantasy", separate from the "real world". I saw a show where he said he hated the fact that Disneyland was so close to the highway, he wanted WDW to have lots of room to keep the outside world out.

People who don't move to the end of the row to sit down. If you wanted to sit in the middle of the row than you shouldn't have pushed your way into the theater in the first place.

The other thing that bothers me is when a parent encourages their children to follow around the characters at a meal so they can get a good picture of them even when their seats are across the restaurant. I have many times been to CP and just as Tigger or Pooh are coming to my table and we are getting the kids ready, we have to wait while the CM tells the other family to please sit down and wait their turn.

My pet peeve is when you park your stroller in the stroller parking lot for a ride, you come back after the ride and the stroller has been moved!! Why can't they just treat it like a parking lot at the mall and when one pulls out, another can pull in. We waste more time locating our stroller than I'd like to, and I see many other exasperated people doing it too.

Oh, if it were only that easy. CM's move strollers in order to keep some sense of order to the area. 80% of the time, a guest will just leave their stroller on the outer edges of the stroller parking area, no matter how many "empty spaces" there are. If CM's didn't move, consolidate, and re-arrange the strollers on a constant basis, eventually, they would block the walkways. We're just trying to maintain SOME sense of order, and make it look at least a little bit neat.

My biggest pet peeve is guests who climb over or under the chains /ropes/barriers. Especially in the queues. The chains are there for a reason. Please us the entrances!

Stopping dead while walking
Smoking in non-designated areas
Swearing
Last year, DH and I and the kids stood in front of the railroad station waiting for Wishes, so when it was done, we could have a quick get-away. We stood there about 20 minutes. Two minutes before it started a tall adult man stands smack dab in front of my DD (3 years old) sitting in her stroller.
There were plenty of other places to stand. He was so close, my DDcould stretch her legs out and touch his legs.
She couldn't see over him to see the fireworks. Yea, we could have moved, but I was having a childish moment :rolleyes1 so I kept hitting the stroller into the back of his legs until he moved.
He never said a word to me or DH, nor did anyone with him. What a jerk!

Now I know why we usually never watch the parades or Wishes.

I had a large family create some very tense moments for a me and my DD6 when riding BTMRR. About 5 people sort of speed walked/ran to get in line in front of us, we sort of held back and allowed them in without issue. What I didn't know was that there were 10 in there party and the other 5 refused to run to cut off the lady with her daughter. I didn't know this until we were stopped in line and getting ready to enter the house. The grandmother put her arm up to prevent us continuing in line and motioned for her other 5 to cut in front of us in line so they could all ride "together". Bravo to the 30 something son who said "Mom just let them on ahead of us". It was unlikely that all 10 would even make it on the same train. If it was that important to their group they should walk into each line hand-in-hand so as not to get separated. If they happen to become separated by just a few people then what's the harm in allowing those few ahead of you instead of insisting you come before everyone else? Just a vent.
Amen:headache:

OOOOH don't ruin my fantasy! I have several friends who are CM's. I am convinced moving strollers is the only "revenge" they get on tourists.:rotfl:
I want to believe the CM's get to move strollers just for their own amusement.
:dance3:
(to those serious people reading this.... I am only kidding;) )

Um...don't think that we don't get "revenge" on SOME guests. Like the ones who leave their stroller in front of the entrance to the attraction even AFTER the CM tells them where stroller parking is. Those are the ones that we move to the farthest stroller parking area.

3 words - Brazilian Tour Groups! I would rather deal with people cutting in line, someone running into me with their wheelchair or stroller, people stopping right in the middle of the walkway, etc. then have to deal with those brazilians.

As for the one posted about climbing over and under the ropes and chains for ride lines, guilty as charged! DH and I both do this. :rolleyes1 Why walk through all that empty space, when you can just make a short cut and climb under and over the ropes and chains? We arent cutting in line, we arent bothering anyone. Lots and lots of people do this to make it easier to get to the end of the line. Which is why we do it. Now granted we only do this, if theres like hardly anyone there, or theres no one there in that room, and everyone is further in line. We just simply make a 5 minute walk to get to the end of the line into a 1 to 2 min walk.

I'll admit, there are things that people do at WDW that really get on my nerves. For example, when waiting in line with ropes marking the queue line and people swinging the rope back and forth (sometimes hitting you).

Is this ridiculous? No, it just really bothers me.

How about you? What's Your Disney Pet Peeves?

HAHA I used to do that when I was younger.I at on them but I didn't swing and hit people lol.....

Hmm I don't really have one...I would say when I overhear people fighting and making a scene over spot's for the parade or something. most of the time I'm in my own world so I just tune people out:thumbsup2

I HATE this anywhere i use my chair - my chair is not your playground, stepping stool, "lean rail", coat hanger, or shopping cart. please do not "move me" out of the way if you want to see something on the shelf i am near - odds are I am looking at it too! i get a lot of people who stop behind me when i am waiting to see a parade and then lean on my chair. PLEASE do not do this... i will not touch your rear end, you do not touch my chair, and we'll call it a day!

WHAT!!!! That is crazy!!!!

When people don't understand that adults love Disney as much as kids. I swear everytime I'm there I'm given weird looks for getting character photographs, or going to character dinners w/no kids, or wanting front row for parades/shows. There's so many neat secrets I hear about that I want to try but I know I'll just be looked at like I'm crazy by some parents.

Don't look at them lol and you won't notice them!!! I do everything you said and I'm sure people look at me like I'm crazy! just ignore it and don't let them ruin your fun:thumbsup2

people cutting lines saying stuff like "oh, my [insert person here] is up there"

This is my number 1. One person will get in line while the others eat or do whatever then they think it's ok to jump the line to their friend. Depending on my mood I sometimes tell them they better call their friend on the cell and tell him or her to wait for them because they are not going any further in line.

My 2 DS and I always get a spot early for the parade and take a little more room than we need (not alot ) Then we look for little ones who are too far back to see and ask their parents if they (the kids) would like to sit on the curb with us. But I did not let the kids with the mother who reached around other people and hit my DS in the back of the head and said "move for my son your big and he's little so he needs to be at the front" I just turned to the little girl directly behind me and invited her mother and her to take the small extra space. We don't mind squishing together to make room, but don't walk up and expect me to squish for you. And for sure don't hit my kids even if they are teens!

I hate when adults feel the need to stand in front of my children, who have been standing patiently waiting for a parade to begin, as if they are not there. hello? you are not see through! the kids cannot see & for one - they were here first!

My biggest pet peeve applies everywhere , not just Disney. My Peeve is how genuinely DISRESPECTFUL, UNCOUTH,APATHETIC and UNCIVILIZED people have all become towards each other and society as a whole ( and yes I am guilty sometimes too, but am trying to do better)It tends to get worse in theme park situations just because the sheer numbers and different ethnicities etc that are packed togetther.I for one this trip will relax and enjoy myself. If people want to carry on like a bunch of animals ...so be it.
