2 adults, 2 teens... 14 days/13 nights.

We booked a refundable rate at the Swan. 2 Queens with balcony & resort view (330 sq feet). I was hoping to rebook at a lower rate but since the hotel is sold out for parts of our stay it looks like that won't be an option.

HOWEVER, it looks like we can rebook at the Swan Reserve for the same price. It would be in a Signature Suite, 2 *doubles* + a sofa bed. No view but 610 square feet.

Pros: more space, which might be nice since we will be there almost two weeks.

Cons: further walk, smaller beds, no view, and I believe this price ("Save on 5+ nights all summer") would lock us in, so no future price adjustments.

We are Marriott Gold Elite which generally means nothing but *might* mean the slim chance of getting upgraded to a room with queens. I'm not counting on it, but it's a dim possibility because (at least right now) that room type is still showing as available - it just costs quite a bit more.

UPDATE: I found another offer to switch to the Swan Reserve that would cost us about $230 more than the Swan BUT it would give us a $650 hotel credit... for anything in the Swolphin. That includes restaurants, cabanas, spa services, etc.

UPDATE #2: I called and they said that if we booked a suite with two doubles and no view, the best upgrade we could expect would be a suite with two doubles and a view. He said we wouldn't get upgraded to Queen beds... that's a completely different price point.

What would you do???

That is a tough one. The two doubles would be a hard sell for me as I can't sleep with anyone in a double bed. Sleep is super important on a Disney trip. The no view is not a big deal unless you have a view room at the Swan and were really looking forward to it. But it is cool to get a large suite for the same price.

I would call the hotel direct and inquire if there are really doubles (full) in some of the rooms. Why would some Signature rooms have queen and some have fulls? That doesn't even make design or inventory sense. They don't even list doubles (fulls) in regular rooms. Could this be a type error?

Technically "double" means any bed that sleeps 2 - full, queen or king.

For 2 weeks I'd go for as much space as I could, especially separate sleeping and living space.

We do have a view and balcony currently booked at the Swan. I was thinking that with such a small room for two weeks, mom and dad might want to escape to relax on the balcony some evenings, to at least put a glass door between us and the two teens. lol.

But the suite at the Swan Reserve would do the same thing - effectively - since there is a bedroom with two beds as well as the "living room" space.

The Swan Reserve room also has a microwave and the Swan room does not. Not enough to make me switch but a nice small perk.

I stayed in a Signature Suite in March and that extra space was a treat - I think with 14 days, it would be great! The bathroom is large and the toilet and a sink have a door separating them from the shower and sink in there. Happy to answer any other questions.

This is amazing! Thank you! Is this the 610 sq foot suite? (Just making sure I'm comparing apples to apples.)

I'm thinking with four people all together for two weeks, this extra space would be much appreciated. The question is if it's worth the extra walk every time we go out... and if it's worth going from queen to double beds. Hmmmm...

ALSO - I updated my original post. I found an offer to upgrade to the Swan Reserve that would cost us about $230 more BUT we would get a $650 credit towards Swolphin costs like food/spa/etc.

WOW had no idea there was also the dining area, that basically doubles the size of the living space.

AND I will assume there are two televisions.

For me, our "adult" group can live in tight spaces but 14 days - I would be all over this suite. If I need some outdoor rest time, I'd be cruising to some outdoor benches, poolside, boardwalk, hotel bars etc. Why stay confined to the room?! And in two weeks we'd also be bringing some food, snacks, drinks and maybe some sweets from Disney Springs. Fridge be handy.

Yes, I'm leaning towards switching to the suite and just sucking up the extra walking and smaller beds.

WORST case scenario, I told DH we could put one of the kids on the floor on a twin air mattress, one of the kids in the fold out couch, and DH and I could each have our own double bed. 🤣

I'm worried about the two doubles, too. Hence the reason I never really considered the Dolphin at all. DH is 6'2".

However, the teens don't share well, so even with two queens the plan was to put one on the floor on a twin air mattress. Optionally, mom could share a bed with daughter and dad could share a bed with son.

With two doubles in the suite we could theoretically STILL put a teen on the floor on an air mattress, one teen in the fold out couch, and mom and dad could each have their own double bed. 😁

I called and they confirmed they are double beds. The 2 queen beds in a suite are the same square footage but the bigger beds mean a completely different price point. (Who travels and gets two doubles anyway? I'm surprised they didn't just do all queens.)

How much extra is 2 queens suite?

Otherwise, I might just also spring for a rollaway bed or two...if this is allowed

How disappointing that a new boutique hotel decided to put in beds that not even budget hotels use anymore. WHY wouldn't all rooms have queens (and kings)?

Yes! I just had a king bed instead of 2 beds. :-) It is really a nice space.

It's not that much further of a walk - I promise. In fact it's shorter than some of the hallways I've encountered in the Dolphin. HA!

A suite with 2 Queens is $250 more PER NIGHT! Crazy, right? Same square footage just bigger beds.

Wow!

If someone is ok with the sofa bed, you only need one rollaway bed. :)

I know some people do air mattresses but I wouldn't like that

Are you sure your DH could sleep in a double? For me, it’s not so much losing the width from a Queen to a double, it’s the length. I’m only 5’8”, but I feel like I’m not able to stretch out and get a good night’s rest.

As nice as the extra square footage would be, there’s no way doubles would be something we could work with for 14 days.

The Swan is our go-to. I just love the location. I have dined at Swan Reserve and I am just not fond of crossing such a busy street. I don't think I could stay in that location for such a long trip.

So UPDATE… Swan Reserve prices dropped and the *suite* (with double beds) is now $500 LESS (for a 13 night stay) than The Swan (Queen beds and balcony).

I should do the suite, right? Even with the smaller beds and longer walk?

Yes on the suite. It's not really that much more walking, plus you're in a much newer, arguably nicer hotel. At check-in, I would use the gold status to ask about a possible upgrade, and even ask if a discounted upsell was available. But for sure go in with the expectation you'll be in the room with the double beds--anything better will be icing on the cake.
