Why are dates disappearing one at a time before they are open?

Related to my difficulty getting reservations, I’m noticing that some dates are disappearing one at a time the night before they open up at the 7 month window and they don’t have dates attached to them. Why is this happening? For instance, I just saw June 20th disappear but it didn’t have the 19th available. I realize people who have it as a home resort can grab it obviously, but it doesn’t make sense why they would grab only one date and why this keeps happening. Any ideas?

It sounds like people are “walking’ their reservations to ensure they get ahead of the 7/11 month crowd. Unless I am misreading the situation.

I have seen that happen as well. It's possible that someone had the 19th already and then went in and walked the 20th although why wouldn't they have just taken it originally at the same time?
Also I doubt it would be an owner grabbing it right before it hits 7 months.

It is certainly frustrating to get on in the am to book and a room you knew was there the night before is now gone before it is even 8 am.

Well, today is the 20th so I think it's likely someone had, for example, June 13-20 booked to check out on June 20, then went in to grab the 20th today, as they already had the room they didn't have to grab it right at 8am.
