Got our "nice little notice" this morning from Southwest to "be aware of hurricane activity and possible flight cancellations and delays"! Allie's still holding out her prediction that we shouldn't have any issues; maybe a delay since our flight comes in FROM Orlando (a 2:45 departure from Orlando flight) so we're staying positive! She went to grocery store after church to pick up a few more things for us and she said "shelves are bare" so Melbourne is prepared as they can be.

Classes have been canceled for the week so she's a "happy camper". The University canceled for Tuesday and Wednesday and her Professor canceled her classes for Monday so she's free. She has plenty batteries, water, food and books to read plus she needs to do some studying for tests the week after the fall break. Now she won't have to do that while at DW. Just a little worried about tornados and street flooding. It's been raining...pretty hard at times....all day from a cool front moving in ahead of the hurricane. Then adding the hurricane rains might make it "iffy" but she shouldn't have to venture out until Friday morning so hopefully she'll be okay there.

When I saw the storm had strengthened to a Cat 5 this morning I messaged Allie to COME HOME and fly back with us. She was a step ahead of me and had already checked...some airline tickets...one-way...were at $1,000.00 ! Needless to say, she's staying in Melbourne! She said it will loose some of it's strength before it makes landfall when it hits some dry air and wind shear; sure hope so!

She was a step ahead of me and had already checked...some airline tickets...one-way...were at $1,000.00 ! Needless to say, she's staying in Melbourne! Isn't that awful! Have seen Disney guests who are leaving early or having to pay an extra $500 in addition to the credit on their original flight! Can't believe that's allowed; absolutely awful gouging those people like that!

WELL...last update with the southerly tract puts the EYE of storm directly over Allie on early Thursday morning! SHOULD be downgraded by the time it moves across Florida but after the winds WE had with Hurricane Beryl in July that doesn't make me feel a whole lot better! We DID change our flight this afternoon after Southwest notified us we could make changes without fees. Moved it from Thursday at 5:45 pm to Friday morning at 8:45...PROVIDING the airport is open. We thought the extra 12 hours would give us a little "breathing room". IF things go as planned, we'll still arrive in time for our LL on Flight of Passage...again PROVIDING the parks are open. The new track moves the eye off of Disney World but that's not a big deal since winds will still be pretty strong. Just hoping for the best; all we can do.

Well now plans have changed AGAIN! That flight got canceled so Southwest rebooked us on a flight TOMORROW AT NOON landing in FT. LAUDERDALE at 4:30! Now we're trying to find a rental car to get us from there to Melbourne for tomorrow night since our luggage won't fit in Allie's car...she was planning on picking us up until we thought of that! And, of course, with all these changes in plans, I have nothing ready to go so busy, busy evening ahead!
