Woo hoo! Business trip to Seattle! :)

I've never been there. What's the weather like the first week of June? The only thing I know is that it rains a lot there, but I don't know if that's all year or just certain months.

TIA! :wave2:

Can be just about anything.....including rain
But it is a fun city to visit anyway.....just bring an umbrella.
We're hoping for good weather on the 4th ;)

This year has been very unusual weather wise. We had a very mild winter. The Governor has already declared a drought emergency. Then on the first day of spring, it snows. It has been pretty much raining for the past 2 weeks.

So there's no telling what June will be like this year.

You KNOW it rains a lot in Seattle? According to my Places Rated Almanac, Seattle has 39 inches of annual rain, Chicago has 34 inches. Of course, that doesn't include the months it is too cold for rain in Chicago when they get 40" of snow, while Seattle gets (at most) 15".

According to weather.com (easy for anyone to find), in June Chicago has 4.3" of rain to 1.49" in Seattle.

It usually does not warm up until after the 4th of july here. It is usually around 60 and either rain or shine, but can be unpredictable. June is beautiful here though!

I think one of the differences is that in the places like Seattle and Portland (close to where I live), it's not so much the amount of rain as the frequency. Many people not from the area think we get a lot of rain but in inches it's often less than in other areas not thought of as rainy. However, the rain does seem to be spread out over more days of the year... which is one of the things I love about the area - so much less of the year when I need to water the lawn. ;)

To the OP - as many have said, the weather is very predictably unpredictable. :teeth: Really heavy down pours don't happen often but it's best to be prepared for them. Most rain falls as light to moderate showers and often come and go quickly.

What makes you think I'm not from the area? Washington native here. Seattle doesn't rain so much as it drizzles. It just fries me to see comments such as "The only thing I know is that it rains a lot there"

Sorry, I didn't mean to offend! I should have put "rains often". That's really what I meant, that it rains more days than not, I wasn't refering to inches. It doesn't surprise me that Chicago gets the same or more inches of rain than Seattle, because when it rains here, it RAINS...as in downpours, or we get all day rains, too.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll pack warmer clothes (I always feel cold unless it's at least 75 outside) and an umbrella. :umbrella:

In my experience, June tends to be a rainy month. It seems to me we often have beautiful weather early in the spring and late spring/early summer are pretty drizzly.

I just moved from the Seattle area. All I can tell you is prepare for the worst and hope for the best. Most likely you will get one or two nice days and be able to see the mountains. Still the mornings and evenings are likely to be quite cool even if the afternoons are warm.

Mary Ellen...I laugh when I hear people say how much it rains here! It's just a misconception. I usually just keep my mouth shut and let them think that because I am afraid if I tell them how beautiful it really is...more people would want to move here. :rotfl:
