I'm trying to use up what I have in my freezer and came across a bag of frozen chicken breasts (I normally buy fresh chicken but for some reason I have this on hand right now and I want to use it up).

I've used it before in crock pot recipes but I'm looking for something else. Any suggestions?

Are you looking for ways to use them frozen? As you mentioned I have used them in a southwestern crockpot recipe. I have seen recipes that cook the frozen breasts in the oven, in various ways. Sometimes I thaw them overnight and use them as I would fresh: marinated and grilled, baked in the oven, cut up and cooked in Butter Chicken, stir fry, etc.

I took a thawed chicken breast and basted it with teriyaki sauce in a 425 oven for about 35 minutes. It was crispy outside and nicely done inside. Mixed with noodles and vegies. Yum!

Sweet and Sour Chicken with Rice
Chicken Rice casserole
Cook Chicken then make Chicken Salad
Chicken Pasta - add spinach / peas / carrots / mushrooms / artichokes / etc / you can make any kind sauce - use broth make light sauce / or if you have jar sauce use that
Wrap with Bacon and cook
I could go on and on - shame you don’t wish to use crock pot I have a ton for that
I myself like the Bar B Q suggestion - always a tasty option !!! 👍
Let us know what you picked !!

I would throw them in the crockpot with a little bit of broth and tons of seasoning. When done shred them. You can use them for enchiladas, tacos, or a casserole meal.

This is a crockpot recipe but it is so good!
Angel Chicken-
Melt 2 tbs butter in sauce pan, add 1 packet of dry Italian salad dressing, 4 oz cream cheese, 1 can Campbell’s Golden Mushroom soup, and 1 cup chicken broth. Heat on low, stirring until cream cheese melts, whisk to blend. Pour over chicken and cook on low for 4 hours. Serve over Angel hair pasta.

It's not that I'm against using a crock pot, but was looking for other options. What crock pot suggestions do ya have?

I make pulled chicken in the crockpot.

Using your favorite BBQ sauce (homemade or store bought), put about 1/2 c in bottom of crock pot
place chicken breasts on top.
pour more BBQ sauce on top.
Cook in high 2-3 hours (depending on how many breasts you're cooking).
Slice some onion (not diced, but not full rings)
Take chicken out (one at a time) and shred it, putting it back in pot.
Add onions
Cook 1/2 hour more.
Stir and serve over hamburger buns.

Another chicken favorite (not crock pot)

In shallow baking dish (large enough for single layer of chicken breasts) place 2 tablespoons butter/margarine. Add about 1 tablespoon garlic salt.
Turn oven on to 350 degrees, place baking dish in oven to melt butter (when melted, spread it around a bit, adding more, if necessary).
Crush potato chips in plastic bag.
Shake chicken breasts in crushed chips.
Place in baking dish when butter is melted. Use left over crushed chips to fill in bare spots.
Cover pan.
Cook 25 minutes.
Turn chicken over and toss in any leftover crushed chips. Cover
Cook 20 minutes
Uncover for and continue to cook 10 minutes to crisp up coating.

Serve with peas, corn, or other vegetable.

You can do just about anything in the crockpot - your options are endless
Bar b q sauce and splash if Root Beer
Cream of Mushroom Soup / your choice of spices / splash of broth
Family favorite - cream cheese and chicken
If you have Pinterest - you can find hundreds of recipes

I would buy or make your favorite marinade and bake it. The possibilities are endless.
I use frozen chicken all the time.
I use it for everything.
Any recipe that calls for chicken can be used
Pretty much whatever you would use “fresh” chicken breast for.

I remember growing up that if some meat wasn't taken out of the freezer to defrost the night before, we couldn't use it that night. So, I always thought that meat had to be thawed before using.

Then several years ago, I Googled whether meats could be cooked straight out of the freezer. YES! It can be. So many people talked about it. It has changed my life. No more worrying about what to cook, or pre-planning ahead of time. No worrying if I have a craving for something different than what I pulled out of the freezer.

Now, I cook almost all my meats straight from the freezer, Unless I need to have it pre-chopped into chunks or something like that. (But, usually I'd cook a whole chicken breast and cut it into chunks or shred it after cooking.) I separate and wrap the meats so they can be pulled out in individual portions. They are separated with a sheet of wax paper, the way individual hamburger slices are separated. Then I can pull out as much or few as I need.

Cooking it is basically the same as fresh. The key is lower and slower. Lower heat, so that the outside doesn't cook or burn before the inside gets cooked. And slower, so it does have a chance to cook through and for spices or marinades to penetrate. For instance, if it usually takes 12 min to cook a fresh chicken breast before turning over and baking for another 10 min, it takes about 18 minutes frozen for the first side, they about 15 minutes for the second side. Baking is better instead of broiling, as the indirect heat is better, so the outside doesn't burn before the inside is done. But, if you need the outside or the edges to be crispy like with broiling, you can turn on the broiler for a couple minutes at the end of cooking.

By the way, I do NOT own a crockpot. I don't cook things for several hours. For me, cooking from frozen maybe takes twice as long as fresh, that's about it, not several hours. I tried crockpot cooking a few times. But, I live in a small place and I was smelling the aroma of cooking for hours and it drove me nuts. I was hungry the whole time. :lmao:

Crockpot salsa chicken. Chicken, jar of salsa, and 1 cream cheese brick. Cool on low for 4-6 hours and then shred and mix. Great for taco salads, nachos, or build your own tacos/burritos.
