What is the difference between App Store giftcard and Itunes gift card?

I have seen both at Target and don't know which one to buy my daughter for her ipod. Does it make any difference? I've read the front of both cards and they both basically say the same thing.

I have only bought the Itunes ones, but I asked a Gamestop employee and he said they were the same thing. HTH.

According to the Apple website, "Apple Gift Cards cannot be redeemed at the iTunes Music Store. Purchase an iTunes Music Card instead.". ITunes gift cards on the other hand can only be redeemed at the ITunes store for music, video or apps.

It comes down to if you want to buy an iPod, buy an Apple gift card (unless you care about the extended warranty on your credit card, but that's another discussion); if you want music for your iPod, buy an ITunes gift card. -- Suzanne

I believe the OP was referring to Application gift cards (ie App Gift Cards) as opposed to Apple gift cards.

Yes, you are correct, I was referring to the App Store for games, etc as opposed to the Apple Store itself. Both the Apps and Itunes gift cards say they are redeemable for games/music/apps on Itunes.

They are the same thing. Both drop into your itunes account.

The differnce is for people like my mom. She knows an itunes card can get us music. She knows that we buy apps for our iphone. She doesn't know that they are the same. If they didn't have an app card, she wouldn't get us an itunes card because she wouldn't realize we could use both. It is to help people like her
