What Changes Would You Like DCL to Make?

There are two rules I wish DCL would either enforce, or do away with. The first is the rule against saving seats in the theaters. People do it all the time. Other people are bothered by it all the time. If DCL won’t enforce it, get rid of the rule and the source of conflict it brings.

Second is the adults only areas, particularly the beaches. If you aren’t going to stop families from bringing kids under 18, why bother with the rule?

I like the adults only areas. I am ambivalent about the seat saving. I am just annoyed by the lack of consistency. That said, if those are my only complaints, I guess it was a very good cruise.

I wish they would allow you to upload all your check in documents well in advance from check in, or even keep them from prior cruises if you’ve sailed within 12 months.

I’m in the UK and really don’t enjoy trying to upload my passport and other details at 5am!

Then you could just get your PAT at midnight eastern which is way less brain usage at that time in the morning.

I can see saving two seats (a small child and a parent to take them) if they need to use the restroom. Honestly I have never really noticed saving seats as an issue but I tend to line up prior to theater doors opening. I have never seen conflict over this either.

I also have never noticed kids at serenity beach on Castaway. I have not been to Lookout but it appears less separate and minimal signage.

I wish they had more questions for trivia and they were more randomized. This seems like a simple fix. There is no reason that the same exact set of 20 Pixar questions should be repeated in the same sailing. With all the Disney facts out there they could easily have a bank of larger questions so that most questions would not repeat for a sailing or the one after it (meaning b2b cruisers would get different trivias too for each cruise)

I also wish they would have us swap papers vs holding up our phones and promising not to cheat. I swear I feel like I am back in grade school on the Fantasy as they made as repeat this long mess of promising not to cheat using all these different resources that they listed out. I don't even pay for internet on the cruise- please don't make me listen to all the ways others could be cheating.

I wish DCL would stop taking public use space and turning it into concierge space. Like taking the funnel of the Dream to make a suite and splitting Vibe in half for the Edge kiddos.

Also can we PLEASE have 7 night sailings from FL on either the Dream or Fantasy and not make the Treasure the only 7 night option- please? I will hold up my phone and promise whatever they want if I can have my 7 night Fantasy cruises back.

+1 on both of these things! More 7 (or longer) nights sailings would be welcomed.

Asks in the category of "I think they could do this if they wanted/enough people complained about it"

I wish they would go to the safety drill like all other cruise lines now which is done remotely instead of in person. Especially on a 3 night cruise, a meaningful amount of time is spent waiting for the drills, waiting for everyone to come to the drill, having to stand around for the drill, and waiting to get back to the ship to your room/deck party, etc.

Another change I would like is offer more varied nighttime adult entertainment - on our recent cruises the only nighttime dancing was the "silent parties"

I wish they would go back to having small world nursery open until midnight

I wish the pools (especially adult pools) were open later at night - other cruise lines keep them open later, but everything closes early on the pool deck on DCL.

I also wish they would hold a "midnight buffet" (if not at midnight) on the night of Pirate Night

----

In the "not going to happen" category:
- Cheaper prices at peak times
- Go back to cabanas dinner service
- A better value proposition around concierge (either cheaper prices or better benefits)
- Cabanas not being a "OMG I actually got one" sort of thing
- Character dining as one night or breakfast for everyone while on board
- More varied gifts for DVC members - if you sail at least once a year all the gifts should be refreshed
- Bath Robes in all the rooms, not just on the Wish
- Bigger pools - especially for adults

I've seen them turn away families with younger kids from Serenity Bay.

Like you, I've not been to Lookout, but I had concerns from the first moment I saw the layout that there is absolutely no separation between the family area and "serenity" bay there. They clearly need to do SOMETHING to separate those areas. It honestly puts me off wanting to go there more than the pier (I walk everywhere in NYC, so long walks don't bother me).

Not swapping papers is the same on other cruise lines. Really, if someone needs to cheat to win some cheesy prize (and I have no doubt they do), I just go for the fun of it.

There was WAY too much waste in that feeding frenzy. The one time I braved going in to see what the fuss was all about, there were multiple tables abandoned with multiple plates piled up high with food that had only had one or 2 bites taken out of it (and I mean abandoned - no one around holding the table while others went to get more). That's not coming back.

This is true we went on Royal. They did not swap papers, but they also did not make me hold up my phone and promise all the ways I would not cheat like Disney did. I did not even know what Shazam (had never heard of it) was until Disney Cruise Line told me not to use it.

My feeling is we are either going to trust everybody and we don’t need to do the whole big repeated spiel about us all promising not to cheat or we don’t trust anybody and we are swapping papers. The in between is killing me.

Castaway Club status determined by number of nights sailed rather than number of individual sailings
Yeah, Disney is never going to do that because they make more money off the shorter sailings. My Panama Canal 14 night DCL cruise is costing less than my B2B on the wish in the same category room, same number of people.

Enforce the rule about not saving chairs on the pool deck. If they are worried about cheating on trivia, to me this is way worse.
