Wanna Drive 811 miles to Disney? Tomorrow? Another Mickeystoontown Report (that will be finished!) *Updated 11/5

Oh my gosh! You are back too!!!!!

I try not to post too terribly much about Mama because, well, I don't really know why. I guess out of a sense of privacy for her.

We arrive on November 14th and check out on the 30th. What are your dates?

We arrive November 17th and leave the 23rd. We are staying at Ft Wilderness as my parents have an RV. They wanted a 4th person to go with them since it's easier on everyone to have another person, since my sister in a wheelchair, because they otherwise can't do anything together just them, so I volunteered as tribute! :rotfl2::rotfl: Thankfully George encouraged me to go, he will enjoy playing his video games however loud he wants while I'm gone!

We will be on the Disney Fantasy, on a 4 night/5 day sailing to the Bahamas (Nassau and Lookout Cay). We thought a shorter sailing would be good for a first cruise :) . It will be myself and hubby, and our 2 kids (ages 15 & 7). I'm so excited!!!
A shorter sailing will allow you to see whether or not cruising is for you so that's a smart move!

Oh bless you putting sacrificing yourself as tribute! LOL

EPILEPSY SUCKS!

I was up and at 'em earl
y and purchased Genie+. We had decided that we wouldn't stress over trying to get in the virtual queue for Tron since we'd be back in November but I did want to see and do as much as we could.

I woke John up to take his meds and told him that I would jump in the shower first since it takes him a while for his morning wake me up pill kicks in. Many of his meds cause him to be sedated so he has to take something to combat that. Drowsiness and dizziness are just two of the side effects that come with John's seizure meds and there some days are worse than others. John was really dizzy and stumbley this morning so we were slow moving. I took the above screenshot at 7:03 a.m. and we didn't leave the room until 8:15 a.m. In order to buy some time,, we decided to walk over to the Old Port Royale bus stop and catch the bus. We do this a lot anyway. There's nothing wrong with the other bus stops at Caribbean Beach. We just enjoy the resort grounds and walking to the Old Port Royale bus stop provides us gorgeous views.

Poor John, he was having to hold onto me while he walked because he was woozy feeling. I asked if he wanted to go back to the room and go to the park later but he said that he would be fine after a while. We did, however, stop in Old Port Royale where he sat down in one of the comfy chairs. We watched as the cast members hosted a little dance/hopscotch party as guests walked in and out.

I went into Centertown Market and got John some coffee and then went to the store and bought us a metal drink container. It was getting hot and I figured we could refill it with water and ice in the park. John said that he felt better so we made our way over to the bus stop and were in the park around 9:30. Not too bad.

There was a cast member parked near the train station and we asked if he was available to take us on a ride down Main Street USA. He said he absolutely was so we hopped aboard.

Yep, it does.

Love that you got that ride down Main Street. I never could figure out how to do this. I didn't realize that all you had to do was ask.
Yes ma'am. If you see the car parked near the railroad station or near the castle, just approach the driver and ask for a ride. They will let you know whether or not they are doing them at that time.

Late to the party and still need to catch up! But looking forward to read all about your adventures.

Just found your trip report and have enjoyed reading the whole thing today. Thank you for sharing, it sounds like a great trip so far!

Sorry you had a rough start to your morning. But how fun to get a ride down Main Street! Hoping the rest of your day was good!

We never know when epilepsy will rear it's ugly head and have learned to go with the flow for the most part.

Going right down the middle of Main Street USA!

Our driver took us right up to the front of Cinderella Castle. He said that he is supposed to drop us off near the handicap assessible ramp but he figured why not take us all the way since it was virtually empty.

I was snapping pictures to show where we stopped and didn't realize that our driver eventually ended up posing for me. John had to point it out to me.

I've always wanted to ride those but it's always too busy! Glad you got a great ride and he posed! :rotfl:

How the heck did I do that when I was half asleep?

As the Disney Alexa showed in the above pictures, we were in the room around 4:12 a.m. Instead of setting an alarm, we chose to just sleep until whenever which is another crazy thing for us. Our trips are usually longer trips (16 days) so we do have days where we sleep in and have no plans for the day. On park days, we set an alarm and try to get to the parks semi-early. Not necessarily rope drop early but early.

I am a sucky sleeper. I wake up at least five or six times a night, roll things around in my mind, and fall back asleep 10-30 minutes later. I do this whether I am at home or on a trip. On this night or really morning, I slept for almost 2 1/2 hours before waking up. I looked at the Disney Alexa, saw that it was 6:50 something, and opened up the Walt Disney World app on my phone. If I was up, I may as well try to get a Guardians of the Galaxy virtual queue. I was so sleepy that my phone was tilting back and forth and my eyes were closing on an off. I'd somehow refresh the screen with my eyes virtually closed. I hit join queue and, can you believe it, I got in the virtual queue. I don't even think that I looked at the estimated time before I fell back asleep.

The next time that I woke up, it was after 10:00 a.m. We both got up, took showers, and got ready for the day. I don't know exactly what time we left but I do know that I took this picture of the bounceback offer and it was taken at 11:05 a.m.

I forgot to mention that I had brought Magic Bands from a previous visit since I didn't have time to get new ones before we left. I had tried to open the door with both bands and only John's worked. We decided to walk to Old Port Royale and have them check the bands since it would be easier than having mine not work when we got to the park tapstile.

We were in Aruba Building 52 which was a good location for us. It wasn't a far walk from Old Port Royale and we could take the Skyliner from the Riviera. We walked towards Old Port Royale and took in the beautiful views around the resort. It was so good to be back and the resort is gorgeous. Do I have pictures to prove it? Nope. I was just taking it all in so you'll have to take my word for it.

Old Port Royale wasn't very busy which was good because it took just a few minutes for them to check the bands. Because the wait was so short, we walked into the resort store to see if they had the Mickey Coconut Patties that John's dad likes so much. They did have them so we got a box and were checking out when I saw a pair of opal earrings that matched the necklace John bought me from there in November. I told John that we could get them when we went back in November but he insisted that we go ahead and buy them now. I'm glad that we did because they were the only pair they had. Purchases made, we ducked into the grab n go and bought John a cup of coffee which he enjoyed as we leisurely strolled back to the room to drop off our purchases.

While getting ready and during our stroll to and from Old Port Royale, we talked about food. We originally said that we would just eat counter service foods the entire time but the more we thought about it, the more we wanted shrimp and grits from Coral Reef. I opened the app and checked availability. Yep, there was a reservation open for that evening and I promptly grabbed it up before it was gone.

We dropped off our bag in the room, took a quick tinkle break, and then walked over to the Riviera Resort to catch the Epcot Skyliner from there. I love the Skyliner! Even though I am deathly afraid of anything that takes me up higher than a ladder, I love the Skyliner. I am never afraid while riding it which is strange but true.

I got pulled to go through the whole wanding process at security at Epcot. I'm not sure what it ended up being but I suspect that it was my belt and possibly the metal tag designer thing on my backpack. It didn't take any time to get through though and I was snapping this picture at 12:29 p.m.

Oh and I forgot to mention that I purchased Genie+ and was able to get a lightning lane for Remi. Later in the day, I snagged Soarin', Spaceship Earth, and Journey into the Imagination.

Our Guardians of the Galaxy virtual queue would update throughout the day and I kept a close eye on it as it was ever changing.

Our first stop was going to be food. We hadn't eaten since we stopped at a crappy McDonald's somewhere along the way there and some crackers that were in our snack bag. We were hungry! We had originally said we were going to snack in World Showcase but it didn't sound good right then. We hadn't tried Connections Eatery yet and we were sure we could find something that we would both like there.

As we made our way towards the front of the park, I snapped pictures of the gorgeous flowers and topiaries. Our trips to Disney used to be in May/June but we changed it up the year that my boss died and I got a new job. My current employer is a big duck hunter so he is out most of November. It made sense to start going in November when we would be super slow anyway. I love the November temps and weather but do miss the Flower & Garden Festival.

We stopped under a shade tree and mobile ordered from Connections Eatery. The Jammitors were performing so we stopped to see them while waiting on the notification that our food was ready. I enjoy watching the Jammitors and any sort of entertainment like this. When traveling, you gotta stop and smell the roses and watch grown men play music on garbage cans.

Just as Jammitors were finishing up, I received the notice that our food was ready.

Y'all this place was busy! Every single table was full and we thought that we would have to stand around like vultures and stalk for a table. We found a cast member who had roped off a section and would only allow you in if you had your food already. We walked around a bit and there were no tables open in that section either. I turned and saw a family of three getting up and they offered their table to us. Yes, please!

I went and got our drinks, silverware and condiments and returned to the table. Just as I sat down, Lacey facetimed us. She was visiting Mama and they wanted to say hey. Mama asked Lacey what was on my head and Lacey laughed and told her that it was Mickey ears. She said "well my word". I guess she didn't like them. We talked for a little while before Lacey said she would let us go so we could eat. I normally take pictures of all of our food but this time I completely forgot to take a picture of John's burger. I did remember my pizza and the dessert though.

I love how supportive John is! He doesn’t even question a spontaneous Disney trip, just says yes, and encourages you to get those earrings! Wonderful!

Keep trying! We went for years without getting a ride!

John doesn't show it a whole lot to others but he is the sweetest! He leaves me a note almost every single day. It may not say much but at least I know he is thinking about me.

Well this is for the birds!

Now that we had been given a ride to "my" castle, we needed to decide where we were going first. We decided on Adventureland and, when we got to The Enchanted Tiki Room, the line was virtually non-existent so we hopped right in as the preshow was finishing up.
IMG_4466.JPEG

All of our pets are named after Disney characters...go figure. When we got our chickens last year, I named some of them after the Tiki birds because I love the show. Our rooster is Pierre, the four yellow/brown chickens are Collette, Suzette, Mimi and Fifi. The others? Well they are just random Disney names like Merida, Tinkerbell, Blueberry, etc.

We were soon in the theater and on the back row.

In the Tiki, Tiki, Tiki Room!

That's enough of the crappy pictures. None of them turned out very well.

Speaking of crappy pictures, let's move on to the next set that I took. I don't know what was up with me this morning. Maybe John's epilepsy flare up was throwing us both off. (I'm not kidding, sometimes it does.)

The next attraction was Pirates of the Caribbean since the wait was a short one as well.

Yeah, the pictures weren't much better.

Up next: Looking for a lizard and a hat!

Good choice on the Tiki Room - probably helped to have a slower start to your day. Always love a short wait for Pirates - so nice to just keep walking thru the queue. Anxious to hear how the rest of your day went!

I am so happy that you are back on the boards and I found that you wrote another trip report.

I was so active for a while and then life got busy. Glad you are here!

Hello? Do I need to come help pick ya up from the floor? I know you are dazed and confused by seeing me post after such a long lull. Like many of you, my life has been busy and that's okay. It is much better than what others have endured. We leave for our 16 day stay at Disney next Wednesday and I've been preparing for that and getting clients ready to travel as well. Yay for both!

Let's move on.

Looking for a lizard and a hat! (should have been titled Looking for a hat and a lizard!)

John is super picky about hats and the way they fit on his head. He has a list of musts when it comes to hats: No big logos on the front that makes it stick up, it must fit around the ears just right, the bill can't be flat, the bill must be pliable enough that you can fit a baseball in it like when you are conditioning your baseball glove. Yeah, a long list of musts.

When we exited Pirates of the Caribbean, he saw a hat that might work. He tried it on but then had me take a picture from the side so that he could look at it. Looked good to me. Not to him and we walked out with no hat.

IMG_4488.JPEG

From there, we started making our way towards Haunted Mansion. I'm looking at my pictures and I think that I am remembering that we needed to make a restroom stop before getting in line. The explanation makes sense because we were looking for Pascal in this cute little area.

IMG_4489.JPEG
It was pretty crowded and we ran into a few vloggers who were not moving for anything but were doing quite a few takes to get their videos just right. In the meantime, I was able to spot a Pascal and even pointed him out to a family who was beside us. They were so excited that there were more and I left them a little hint or two as they started their hunt.

IMG_4491.JPEG

Instead of moving on to the next post, I'll just start it here because I can still add pictures to this post.

There's always room for one more!

Our search done, we joined the line for the Haunted Mansion. I love love love the Haunted Mansion. John, not so much? He doesn't really know why. He just doesn't care of it but he will ride it with me because he knows that I like it.

Once the line stopped, I had to take a picture of the mansion.
