Waffle fries in an air fryer

I decided to try it and I'm not sure if I'm doing it right. I've got a small air fryer - the round kind with an 8 inch wide circular tray. It doesn't have a great size, but it's good for small things, including some I used to throw in a toaster oven and that got burned.

I bought prepared Target house brand waffle fries. I heard they don't necessarily need oil as they're already prepared with vegetable oil. Their instructions for ovens say that they need maybe 10-14 minutes on each side in a regular oven, but I'm noticing that it's a lot faster in an air fryer.

I'm not quite getting it super crispy like I prefer. Maybe it might help to have a little bit more oil so that it's closer to deep fried? I've seen some recommendations to just use a pan to fry them.

I use my air fryer everyday. I have the larger cuisinart one though. I never add oil to frozen French fries. I would suggest you cook them on a lower temp for the first 5 or so minutes. Then flip and cook at a higher temp to make them crispy. Cooking at a lower temp first helps things to not overcook.

I do fries in the air fryer all the time - 10 minutes seems to be about the right time for most frozen potatoes.

There are a few brands that seem a little dry from the air fryer, those I spritz with a tiny spray of olive oil cooking spray just to help them crisp up without seeming dry.
