Understanding dues payment on resale

Hi all.
I have only previously bought direct and am looking into resale for add-ons.
I have a question about "buyer pays 2025 dues".
Is this actually pre-paying the 2025 dues to DVC or would I be giving the seller 2025 dues PLUS paying DVC starting the month the contract closes? So, basically paying 2025 dues for at least a 1/2 a year (at this point) a 2nd time.

You are paying the owner back the money for the 2025 dues that they have paid already. In order to sell a contract all dues have to be paid in full for the current year.

Dues are annually paid and not based on the UY.

They paid for 2025 dues in January, if they are providing you the points from 2025, they are asking to be reimbursed for those dues they already paid so that the contract is current.

You will not have to pay dues to Disney until January 2026 for the 2026 points.

That's what I wanted to be sure of...

I pay my dues monthly and wasn't sure if I'd have those added on immediately or in January 2026.

Also, even though you have monthly for your current contract, once the new one is in your membership, you need to set up monthly autopay next January for this one if you want to do it the same way.

it has never made sense to me that those in December use year, with stripped contracts pay the dues for the say 2024 points even though we are in2 025.... but that is typically how it Is done....
