TRIP REPORT
DISNEY MAGIC 7-DAY
10-6-01 THROUGH 10-13-01

MARIA, TIM AND ALLISON (AGE 3)

**FIRST OF ALL, LET ME SAY WE HAD A WONDERFUL TIME AND ARE SO GLAD WE WENT GIVEN THE SITUATION IN THE WORLD AT THE TIME.

Friday, 10-5-01

-Stayed at the Hyatt Hotel, International Airport, Orlando. The hotel was just beautiful and the room as well. We are very glad we came in a day early so that we were rested for the cruise and had no worries about flight problems. Would highly recommend this to anyone. Spent the day relaxing by the pool and getting to bed early.

The magical cruise begins…

Day 1, Saturday
10-06-01
Arrived at terminal around 11:00 am through DCL transportation. Check-in was smooth and we waited about 1 hr or so to get on the ship. It wasn’t too bad waiting with our 3 yr-old. She watched movies on the TVs in the terminal and enjoyed playing with the other kids. Tim waited in line, which worked out well, because the line got very long very quick, but did move fast.
Went right to lunch at Parroy Cay-met a nice family and enjoyed a nice meal. Did not do any reservations, so we just strolled around and went to our room. Our bags were not in our room until about 3 PM, so I would recommend packing swimwear in your day bag (like everyone says!), but I was so stressed beforehand I didn’t get to it. Our daughter was begging to go to the pool and had to wait!!!
Sailaway party was very fun! The kids will love the characters!!
Dinner at Animator’s Palate was great and our tablemates were so friendly and enjoyable to eat with--our daughter got along great with their 3 and 8 yr-old kids. This is my favorite restaurant!
Show (Hercules-I believe) was great-DD feel asleep; so luckily both Tim and I could attend the DIS meet at 10 PM and meet our fellow cruisers. Everyone was so nice and we spent most of the cruise with one family in particular whom we got along with great!

Day 2, Sunday
10-07-01
Due to the hurricane, our itinerary was changed.
WE WENT TO CASTAWAY CAY TODAY AND WOULD PROBABLY GO BACK ON FRIDAY!! YIPPEE!!
It was really hot, but we had a great day-don’t forget the sunscreen-they mean this when they say it! My suggestion is to give your little ones a nap afterwards, because the sun really tires them out and the parents as well!
**Note-every evening there are portraits taken before and after dinner, so be prepared to wait or arrive early (around ½ hr before dinner) to get some good shots with the characters and other nice backgrounds!
Can’t say they don’t take enough pictures-we spent about $100- We couldn’t resist the ones of our daughter and they know they got ya there!!
Some we gave as gifts though-just an idea!

Day 3, Monday
10-08-01
Relaxing day at sea. Enjoyed the pool and just “hung out.”
Castaway Club reception was very nice (we received a special invitation on our cabin door). It was 5:15-6:00 pm and then we went to early dinner. They had fancy appetizers and a really cute Mickey ice sculpture on display. Also, we were greeted by the Captain and enjoyed our free cocktails as well. It made us feel special to be return cruisers!

Day 4, Tuesday
10-09-01
Instead of St. Marten, we went to Puerto Rico, again due to the weather. We were quite happy with this. Puerto Rico was a nice change-we walked the streets, did some shopping, lost about 10 bucks in the casino and headed back to the ship about lunchtime. It was so nice to find the ship empty and the pools also. It was like we had the ship to ourselves!! The pools do get very crowded, especially the Mickey pool, and the Goofy pool is somewhat small and many kids jump in constantly. Note: beer and other liquor is quite cheap in the terminal just outside the ship.
Tropical night was fun-our servers danced around the restaurant and passed out leis to everyone and also entertained our kids as well! Of course, Mickey and Minnie are decked-out in tropical wear too!
Sidenote: we did not enroll our daughter in the Oceaneer’s Club as she was just shy of three, but we were allowed to accompany her to any of the activities and she loved going there. All the kids seemed to be having a lot of fun. We were told the number of kids on this cruise was tremendous and I would say that there were several kids in the clubs at one time. Although there were many counselors (who all seemed great), there were many kids at one time!!

Day 5, Wednesday
10-10-01
St. Thomas
After breakfast, took cab to Magen’s Bay ($6 each way, DD free). Cost to enter beach: $3 each, DD free again. Towel rental is $3~, chair $4~ and float $6.
It was well worth the cost. Magen’s Bay is absolutely gorgeous and I would not have missed this for the world. I am so glad we decided on this and not the other options. I did hear that Coral World was great as well as Trunk Bay, St. John. It is such a shame that we could not have done those as well, but just another reason to go back!!

Day 6, Thursday
10-11-01

It was a rough “Day at Sea” for a lot of passengers. I felt nausea from went I woke up, but luckily never got sick. By mid-day, I was feeling ok and enjoyed the rest of the night. Many people, children and adults as well were getting sick and stayed in bed the majority of the day. It wasn’t very pleasant, but I felt I couldn’t complain because the rest of the week went so well.

Day 7, Friday
10-12-01

Lucky us, we went to Castaway Cay twice!!!!!!! It was a beautiful day and we were so excited to go again and get to relax some on the beach and enjoy the wonderful barbecue again.

Overall, I would highly recommend the 7-day cruise to another and would love to go again. I guess we are not that picky, but we felt the service, food, ship-all were just great! Yes, the eggs were runny (as mentioned on boards many times), but that is only one minute negative thing. Have a wonderful time if you go!!!!!!

Thanks for sharing your trip with us. You are sooooo lucky, Castaway Cay twice in 1 week!!

That Beach sounds great, too.

Hi Maria,

Loved the report. It was great to relive our cruise. I wish I was back at Castaway Cay right now!
