We sleep with a box fan at home. I am hoping to find a small travel fan that will be a good substitute for our trip. I have tried a few apps but none of the ones that I tried are close enough to the sound for us. We like the air movement of the fan as well, but the sound is most important.
Ideas?

I've seen portable, small box fans at Wal-Mart.

We use a sound machine we got at drugstore dot com. It has several different sound choices.....rain forest, waves, etc. It is around $20.00

Good luck! :goodvibes

There's an app for that! :)

We forgot our sound machine during our last trip. I couldn't sleep in the hotel at the airport the night before our departure to WDW. So I turned on my phone and after awhile, wondered if there was a sound machine app.

Not only is there one, there are many, including ones that have the sound of a fan. I downloaded one, turned it one and drifted off to sleep. We used it every night on the trip and it worked like a charm! Helped everyone and drowned out the noise in the morning when someone was getting a shower while others were still sleeping.

I HIGHLY recommend the 9 inch Massey high velocity fan from Walmart!

I have been traveling to WDW with this fan for years and it is GREAT! It is super loud. :thumbsup2

They also make a 4 inch model but I'm not sure how loud it is. :)

We travel with a tent fan. I think I got it at Walmart several years ago and it cost around $10. It's thin, so it could easily pack in a suitcase but it moves a lot of air and gives us the noise that we need! It also has the option for batteries or plug in.

I had a cheap box fan delivered with our stuff from garden grocer. i left it there it was 15 bucks or so and perfect. I hated leaving it there but....couldn't fly with it.

i have a lightweight cheap 8 inch fan from Wal mart and a noise machine I got at Target. Works for us.

I can't believe I never thought to look for a white noise app!! Just uploaded one that sounds like it will work great!

I bought a fan online at Walmart.com and had it delivered to the Poly on our last trip. I wanted a large wind machine and it was worth the $25 to have it for the week. We left it in the room since we didn't have room to bring it back with us. Well worth it!!! HTH!

Can you provide the names of the Apps you like?

I have the same problem. Must have air blowing in my face to sleep and due to the ringing in my ears need some white noise to drown it out. As others suggested, i have a small 7" table fan from walmart ($5 at the time) and if i am flying i have a larger one the fold flat, about the size of two large books. Fans should be on sale at walmart now. Swing by and see what they have that is small.

something like this, folds relatively flat and will fit into luggage.

Since we always drive i just take a box fan with us and i just put it next to my bed. Also, i do have an app call relax and sleep....the icon is a sheep. Does a great job producing sleep noise. Everything from chimes to ocean to wind to crickets and so on. It is also free.

We use a sound machine and never leave home without it. Although, we have tried out the white noise app and it's pretty good, as well, assuming you're used to the actual white noise sound.

I also sleep with a box fan at home. Its wonderful! I've also tried the apps, all kinds....and its just not the same. I actually couldn't sleep with it on, even when it was on the "fan" sound. :(

I'd recommend getting a cheap fan from Walmart or something.
