Hello all, newbie here.... Would anyone be able to provide any insight regarding the process of changing a travel agent / agency once a reservation has already been made under a travel agent/agency in order to switch to different agent/agency? Thank you very much in advance for any help/ insight/ advice. have a magical day!

If wanting to switch to a different agent within the agency I would look for general contact info for the agency and ask to be reassigned. I'm not sure about switching agencies all together.

Totally depends on the agent/agency. They control your reservation so they may charge a fee or even keep your deposit in order to release it.

What is the reason for a switch...?

Its usually not a good idea to switch agencies for a trip that's already booked. The agent has already done most of the work and earned their commission. Unless there is a solid reason to switch (like the TA did something wrong) its best to wait for the next trip.

If switching agencies, then you will need to cancel your current reservation and re-book with the new agency.

You can only transfer bookings that were made directly through Disney within the past 30 days and payment has not been paid in full. If you want to switch agencies, you'll need to cancel and re-book.

I would disagree. If you are unhappy with your TA switch! Disney is an expensive trip and you should feel comfortable with the service and if not switch. If you are staying within the same TA contact the manager. If you are switching agencies, I suggest booking a new trip 1st to make sure the resort/dates/price is what you want and then cancel your 1st reservation. If your dining reservations are already made through MDE they will still be there.

Thank you everyone for your advice.

1. I am unable to cancel and rebook my reservations as these are Caribbean beach resort Reservations which were booked prior to March 19th -
if I cancel and rebook may have to forfeit the $75/night gift card.

2. I originally booked the reservations myself, and then (hurriedly in hindsight) filled a transfer form for the travel agent to
transfer the reservations to the agent. Is it possible to cancel the agent- take the reservation back to myself, and then transfer it to a different agent?

3. None of the dining reservations or any further reservations/plans have been booked (except for the original reservations as above)

Pleasehelp, thanks a lot for everyone's time

You would need to call Disney and ask them if they will take over the reservation (in essence, putting you back in charge of the reservation). You could then try filling out a transfer form again, but it is completely up to Disney as to whether or not they will transfer the reservation again. Why not just keep control of your reservation if you are having trouble with the TA?

I am just curious why you wish to transfer between agents? Just being nosy here. You booked the reservation originally yourself and then transferred to an agent? Why? You did the work already? what services can this agent do after the fact? I know some do ADRS etc.. Did you find an agent who can do more after the booking was transferred?
