I can't believe my DD's DH actually said this.. "It's too hot for a campfire..":eek: I've never, ever heard him say that before!

It's 10:39 p.m. here - temperature is 78 degrees; humidity is 94%; and the dew point is 72%..:eek::eek::eek: Feels like a sauna outside..

Wacky, wacky weather this year..

So strange, because MY DH said the exact same words to me today!

I simply said, "It would be a GREAT night for a campfire," and he replied, "It's too hot for a campfire."

It's 73 degrees outside! Far from "hot"!

Ah - but do you have that humidity - and more importantly, the high dew point - to go along with it? If so, I have to agree with your DH..;) Once the dew point is above 65% or so, the air outside is considered "oppressive".. You could slice it with a knife..

If it's 73 degrees, cool, and dry - well - then I'll agree with you.. LOL

It's humid... it rained. I don't know the %'s or what not... but I can tell you the air is on!!! I think I misread your post. I thought you were DISAGREEING with your DH. Now I get it!

In your case, YES, no campfire!!! ;)

Not my DH (he's deceased) - my DD's DH.. :) It's just so astonishing to me because the one thing that keeps him going all week at work is the fact that he can come up here on the weekends and have campfires at night.. (He's early this week - decided to take a vacation day tomorrow..)

I've got my a/c on - set at 60 degrees - and it's still not really "cool" in here.. It's a real sizzler tonight..

See, clearly I can not read tonight...

Did you get all of that rain today, too? I POURED here, and I know it poured all over the place today... It is very humid here tonight as well.

Not a drop of rain today - but they're calling for thunderstorms later tonight and tomorrow morning.. With this kind of weather, I'm expecting them to be pretty severe..

I don't know where you are, but if you are east of MI, we got it pretty hard here... there were areas that were getting hail, and we had mild flooding near and around our storm drains. It came down in buckets, thunder and lightning. It even came down SIDEWAYS! :rotfl: We have about a 4' overhang above our patio screen door, and it was open (I like to listen to storms) and it was coming down so sideways, it soaked the floor before I saw it!

Rain never materialized last night and would you believe that when I got up at 7:30 this morning, the temperature had only dropped one degree overnight??

Dew point is still up in the 70's - it's very dark and cloudy right now - so I'm assuming the rain and thunderstorms will start soon..

Oh - I'm in upstate NY..:)

Dew point is a temperature, not a percentage.

Dew point is a temperature, not a percentage.

It's presented as a percentage on my weather station - the same as the humidity is presented as a percentage - thus the reason that I type it out that way.. I guess the weather station is sloppy in terms of how they present their information..

I'll try not to let it ruin my day though..;)

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

It's never too hot for a campfire as far as my family is concerned. Last weekend was terribly hot here, never really cooled down at night. We still had our fire on Saturday. We just sit further back than normal! And we gave my brother who is the usual campfire cook a break and had sandwiches for supper so he didn't have to stand by the fire cooking.

Well the rain has started.. No thunder yet though.. Should the thunderstorms start, I'll be signing off and getting back to reading my books..:thumbsup2
