This does not look very appetizing...def needs dressing, i'm not sure how I feel about wedge type salads
The veggies also show that this sat..I mean they are making hundreds of these, they could have grabbed you a fresh one
You don't think I totally know about the menu with the Grand Mariner Souffle?

Like HELLO server!!

Am I caught up? I think I am!

I'm with Jill, here.
Yeah, but I don't do well if I go too long on a completely empty stomach.
Bit sparse. Looks like you wanted to arrive pretty much starving too!
I wanted to be hungry, but not completely empty. Especially since they give you prosecco to start.
Lazy bones!

Actually, sounds really nice after a massage. :)
And it was still pretty cold at this point, so it was nice and toasty under the covers.
Funny. I just commented on @Steppesister PTR how you wax poetic about Palo. :)
It's one of the best restaurants that I know, and you will see that on this cruise. It's always consistent.
Huh. Did not know that.
Yeah, as I was googling to get the correct facts, there were a lot of references to shipwrecks back in the days before technology.
Didn't know you would have pastries too. Nice. :)
You should have seen what it was like when it was a buffet, before the pandemic! It was spectacular!
Looks good! I can't imagine having a medium or (shudder) hard poached eggs benedict.
I have. :sad2: It's not pretty or tasty.
Not quite starved enough. :)
I think that was more a function of the rough seas.

Oh dear! Do you remember this?
1734221377659.png
No, I do not.
I was thinking I'd have picked the tomato soup. Maybe it would've been lighter than one with sausage in it! (Which is a surprise, for celery soup.)
I've had the tomato soup before. I wanted to try something new, and I saw Steve and Su-Lynn post about it recently so I thought I'd give it a go.
Yeah... no.
One reason why I hardly ever order it. It's rarely done well.
And on a bed of risotto, no less! Yum.
Even the current day version is on a bed of risotto. It's just they didn't pound the chicken breast thin, so you can't see it under there.
Poor Jill. :(
Yeah, she had a few days of tummy not quite feeling well.
Good call.
Although it became sort of a joke later in the trip, "Can I have the internet now?"
Had second thoughts? About having the laundry service do it instead, I mean?
No, I am too cheap to pay for that. After paying at the hotel in Egypt, I'll do my own laundry whenever I can.
I've never seen it. How was it? Is that the one with Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis?
Yes. I had only seen the one with Jodie Foster.
With three people who all knew each other?
Well no. The one time we got in with another lady, Jill and I kind of stayed on one side of the hot tub (since it was designed for two). We faced opposite directions on the one side while the other lady had the other side all to herself. She got out shortly after we joined her, because she said she had early dining. One of the reasons that we would go up right around that time.
<sigh>
Sounds wonderful.
::yes::
Not surprised! Be hard not to. :)
I think that was the only time I actually did fall asleep in there. Then again, I don't really remember.
Looks... serviceable.
The cheese plate is always a good call!
Well... yuck. Although the wings look okay.
The wings were fine, but they were kinda hot. I would have liked a nice blue cheese dip to counter the heat.
Must say that's a beautiful dress. You look amazing in it.
Well, thank you very much.
And... okay? I don't think I'd really care.

Heh... I might've asked if I was being told because he wanted my autograph.
We didn't care. If that guy wants to stuff himself that's his prerogative. We were full and happy, so we went back to the cabin ad went to sleep.
I don't get this? Dining shame? Fortitude to show up... to see Mitch McConnell?
Sorry, not following.

This server thought we should eat a certain amount in HER dining room. You'll see later when she thinks she knows my appetite better than I do. I wasn't actually there for the shaming, I will still taking pictures and ordering a cocktail, but Jill said that practically scolded her for not coming to dinner after the Palo event.

Um... that's not a salad. That's just a hunk of lettuce. :sad2:
I would have been fine with the hunk of lettuce, if it had dressing on it.
:headache:
Well, that sucks.
I'd be so looking forward to it, and then...
It still tasted good, but Allyson pointed out too that you could see in the veggies that it had been sitting.
I despise those. Can't you see I'm eating? Go bother someone else.
I actually welcome them. I paid $300 for all the pictures on the ship. The more pictures I get, the less the cost of each individual picture.

Your love of the Grand Marnier Soufflé is legendary.
:lmao:
What even is that??

No clue. It was hard to recognize a lot of her blanket animals.

Yeah, but I don't do well if I go too long on a completely empty stomach.
Then good call. :)
And it was still pretty cold at this point, so it was nice and toasty under the covers.
:cloud9:
It's one of the best restaurants that I know, and you will see that on this cruise. It's always consistent.
Standing by! Will be interesting to compare yours and Liesa's takes.
You should have seen what it was like when it was a buffet, before the pandemic! It was spectacular!
Food coma here I come!

Or would have in the past.
I have. :sad2: It's not pretty or tasty.
I have too. And no... it is not. I've decided that if/when it happens again, it will be sent back.
I think that was more a function of the rough seas.
Oh. I can see that.
No, I do not.
I hope your childhood involved watching Bugs Bunny on Saturday mornings...

It was an episode where every time Sylvester (the cat) came close to catching Tweety, Tweety would whip out a photo of the ship and in a sing-song-y voice tell Sylvester about the rocking of the ship, all while rocking the photo back and forth. It would send the poor cat to the railing to be sick every time.
I've had the tomato soup before. I wanted to try something new, and I saw Steve and Su-Lynn post about it recently so I thought I'd give it a go.
Is she still on the Dis? Or was that on Facebook or something?
Although it became sort of a joke later in the trip, "Can I have the internet now?"
:lmao:
Well, thank you very much.
You're welcome! :)
Hmmm... was it a case of the server thinking she was being funny and it just not coming off well?
I would have been fine with the hunk of lettuce, if it had dressing on it.
Me too. I've had a good wedge salad...
I actually welcome them. I paid $300 for all the pictures on the ship. The more pictures I get, the less the cost of each individual picture.
And I don't think I'd have any photos done. I'm not much into that as I think you know. I will make the rare exception for a good TR photo, but... who wants to look at me?? :confused3

Yum, these all look delicious to me!
Jill and I were talking that it would be nice to stay in a flat and come here and get some high end ingredients to cook with!
Whereas these look fake!
Well they are! They're marzipan.
Tasty, although so much for one person! Well the sweets really
It was way too much in the sweets department, but oh well!
I would probably opt out of the trout, especially after I read the below- jelly fish
I decided that I might as well go ahead and try it, and it wasn't that bad.
I really don't like mustard much, although it's really yellow mustard I'm not very found of, I'd probably ask for none of that, or light.
The mustard was very mild and it wasn't that yellow mustard at all.
I like curry so would probably as for the extra Corrie chicken as well
Yeah, I didn't like that at all.
Egg (I don't really purposely eat egg salad sandwiches)
I don't eat egg salad at all.
LOVE lemon curd 😋
Yes, that was very good!
United Federation of Starships...good old JLP
:thumbsup2
oh yes, I remember this debate- personally I'm jam and then cream, so as to not smush the cream, but if I remember correctly, it's more popular to put the jam on the creme
I was not aware of it and I just put the jam on first then the cream. That seemed natural to me.
was it a surprise?
Yes! A nice one when I opened up the togo container back in the room.
Heck ya! you know it's going to be good when it starts with a shot!!
Glad those annoying broads didn't wreck the second half and that the show was so good
Yeah, they were next to Jill so they were more annoying to her.
Brutal, I was thinking, this is going to hit them later as I read along
Yes, it hit us for quite a while....
Yikes, good thing the train wasn't full!
::yes::
What would you say normal is?
Boarding around 11AM
Hehe that's awesome, her version is still good :thumbsup2
It worked.
this looks nicely cooked! is this their med-rare?
Yes, this is med-rare. I plan to order it again in May as well.
that doesn't really look like a ceasar salad, but looks tasty
No it doesn't, but she liked it.
How was the French martini, I know we've had these together before...
It was OK, I'm spoiled by my local watering hole who makes them very well.
This looks like a lovely little supper indeed!
It was just perfect.
Awww :( I was hoping you got a decent sleep
Nope, and not for a while I don't think.
I think I've seen some pics now where they had characters on the coffees- I forgot to get one on the Fantasy, crazy hey! I think we had some sort of coffee card the first time
Yes, I didn't get any of those.
Did you try any?
We ate the breadsticks and the crispy ones with seeds.
Or a Caesar if you are in Canada (although it is slightly different)
Yeah, Clamato instead of tomato juice. I thought it was going to be gross, but it was OK.
I remember asking you what this was and was surprised it was celery
Very creamy celery.
Now this one looks soo good!
It was! I wish they still made it like that!
you two almost match!
That's what the photopass photographer and Minnie were both saying.
That was a lot of walking indeed!
::yes::
Glad you got some relaxing in!
Finally!
This was kinda similar to ours on the Fantasy, but I can't find the pic to check, I know we just got basic saltine crackers with it though
That doesn't sound nearly as good.
I wonder if they gave you ranch instead?
No, it was just weak blue cheese.
This does not look very appetizing...def needs dressing, i'm not sure how I feel about wedge type salads
I generally like them, but I like dressing on them.
The veggies also show that this sat..I mean they are making hundreds of these, they could have grabbed you a fresh one
I didn't notice that. The veggies just looked gross to me.
Like HELLO server!!

Yeah, she gets kinda worse. :sad2:

Standing by! Will be interesting to compare yours and Liesa's takes.
Well it will be a while, after Palo Brunch we go quite a few days before we have Palo dinner.
Food coma here I come!

Or would have in the past.
It used to be way easier to overeat.
I have too. And no... it is not. I've decided that if/when it happens again, it will be sent back.
Luckily, I haven't had it happen in a while now.
I hope your childhood involved watching Bugs Bunny on Saturday mornings...
Well Bugs Bunny was more weekday afternoons after school. I remember Scooby Doo on the weekends.
No, I don't remember that one.
Is she still on the Dis? Or was that on Facebook or something?
No, not really. It was probably an Instagram story or something.
Hmmm... was it a case of the server thinking she was being funny and it just not coming off well?
No. She continued to be just as obtuse throughout the rest of the cruise.
Me too. I've had a good wedge salad...
I especially like them with iceberg, bacon, blue cheese and tomatoes.
And I don't think I'd have any photos done. I'm not much into that as I think you know. I will make the rare exception for a good TR photo, but... who wants to look at me?? :confused3

Aw come on, it's fun to see your smiling face!

Day 7

This morning was another early morning. I wanted to get some sunrise pics. We would be landing in Spain today and it was one of the few days that we would have a sunrise over land. Little did I know how late the sun would actually rise!

I was up at 7:20. Evidently I slept pretty well, cause I hadn't slept that late in a while. I got dressed and tried to figure out where the sun would rise. I went to the Aft of the ship and it was super cold and windy.

513b41b9-6a67-470c-ae6b-24a5d1ccf5a9.jpg

Who knew there was a mini golf course back here?

6fe170d8-5175-42c7-81a4-b6e203b00370.jpg

I decided to go down to Deck 4 because the walls were not so high and I could photograph over them.

eec24bd6-6174-4254-9db8-9d9f6c94818f.jpg

After a few minutes on Deck 4, I realized that my view was very limited and I might not see the actual sunrise. So I made my way up to Deck 13 forward. There was not a high barrier, but it was cold and super windy. I sat and waited for the actual sunrise.

Finally the sun started to give an inkling of rising.

I might have been there for an hour before the actual sun poked it's head over the hills.

As soon as I saw the sun and it was overpowering the camera, I took off back to the stateroom. Jill was barely awake. She hadn't even noticed that I was gone. I guess I did a good job of being quiet when I got dressed and did my morning stuff.

The ship was still pulling into port when I got back to the room. I took these shots off the balcony before we moored up to the dock.

We had agreed to have a sit down breakfast in Royal Palace today, so she got dressed quickly and we headed down to the restaurant. We were seated near a window, but not close enough that the sun beat down on us.

Jill started off with a Yogurt Parfait. It was so sour that she had to add a packet of sugar to make it palatable.

597ac164-aeed-4fa4-aec4-a6f43d3eeb23.jpg

My breakfast was taking longer than expected and the server offered me a fruit plate. In my experience the fruit plates have had an odd assortment of fruit and they are not so much in season, so I declined. Instead I asked for a pastry from the tray. I chose a Chocolate croissant.

7f83cc2f-68e3-46a5-aa64-7f44b378a357.jpg

Then our actual meals came. Jill had an English Muffin with Jam + Bacon.

3191caad-39cf-464e-a8dd-6b522f3ab398.jpg

I got an omelet with ham, mushrooms, spinach, mozzarella cheese, and onions. Plus bacon and a hash brown. It was good but way too much food. In the future only one of us will order a side of bacon. They just give you too much! I did eat all my hashbrown and a little more than half the omelet.

1b0e4e2e-32a9-4044-9073-a91e67c654d3.jpg

After breakfast, we took some pictures with Mickey.

And Goofy was also hanging out so I got a picture with him as well.

2f01a0a5-27c0-4c6f-97fa-6126aaba10d6.jpg

Then we went back to the room, and shortly thereafter they made the announcement that the ship was clear for going ashore. We waited a bit before going down, but clearly not long enough. There were still some big lines, mostly tour groups all leaving at the same time.

I got a coffee at the Vista Cafe and found out that the same coffee cards you get at the Cove also apply at Vista. It's a lot closer to our room than the Cove Cafe. This time I got an Americano. That had the zing I was looking for!

While I sipped my coffee we noticed that Pluto was hanging around so I grabbed some pictures with him. By then I was about finished with my coffee, so we headed off the ship.

I’ll be back with our off ship adventures.

t was OK, I'm spoiled by my local watering hole who makes them very well.
I had one on our NCL ship, at the bar that does a martini selection- it was just ok...I do much prefer the ones from your watering hole.
that is crazy how long it took!

Jill started off with a Yogurt Parfait. It was so sour that she had to add a packet of sugar to make it palatable.

597ac164-aeed-4fa4-aec4-a6f43d3eeb23.jpg
I had one on the Fantasy, plain yogurt is def a shock if you aren't used to it!
The bacon looks so good here! Well cooked and not too fatty!
The cucumbers are an interesting touch!

Ole!
This time I got an Americano.
Dorian's coffee shop drink of choice :thumbsup2

What will the girls get up to next?! popcorn::

Well it will be a while, after Palo Brunch we go quite a few days before we have Palo dinner.
I ain't going anywhere, lady.
It used to be way easier to overeat.
Overeat? On a cruise ship??

Well Bugs Bunny was more weekday afternoons after school. I remember Scooby Doo on the weekends.
Really? Huh!
No. She continued to be just as obtuse throughout the rest of the cruise.
:sad2:
I especially like them with iceberg, bacon, blue cheese and tomatoes.
::yes::
And homemade blue cheese dressing. I've done that. Yum! Should do that again, soon.
Aw come on, it's fun to see your smiling face!
:rolleyes2 Silly girl.
Little did I know how late the sun would actually rise!
You can google that ya know. ;)

:duck:
Evidently I slept pretty well, cause I hadn't slept that late in a while.
Good!
Who knew there was a mini golf course back here?
Fun! And I bet pretty challenging in rough seas!
Land ho!

Oh... excuse me. Land, ma'am.

:lmao:
I like the way the clouds are glowing. :)
Even better.
Jill was barely awake. She hadn't even noticed that I was gone.
You leave a lasting impression!

Or not.
I guess I did a good job of being quiet when I got dressed and did my morning stuff.
::yes::
We had agreed to have a sit down breakfast in Royal Palace today,
I don't think I've heard that name before. Is that another specialty dining room?
Jill started off with a Yogurt Parfait.
I noticed those... I might have done the same. Except if I hadn't had bennies the day before, then I'd probably do that.
It was so sour that she had to add a packet of sugar to make it palatable.
Really? That's strange. European tastes, maybe? :confused3
I chose a Chocolate croissant.
My least favourite pastry. Just not a fan.
I got an omelet with ham, mushrooms, spinach, mozzarella cheese, and onions. Plus bacon and a hash brown.
That sounds pretty good. :)
I did eat all my hashbrown
That... looks disappointing. If it's called hashbrown... then I want hash!
Aww... Jill getting into the spirit. :goodvibes
Cute shot. :)
Looks like he's giving you an earful.

Who knew there was a mini golf course back here?
I did! :P
She hadn't even noticed that I was gone. I guess I did a good job of being quiet when I got dressed and did my morning stuff.
I didn't! I was fighting a cold from being in the rain all day in Southampton and jet lag and needed the sleep.
Jill started off with a Yogurt Parfait. It was so sour that she had to add a packet of sugar to make it palatable.
I've had plain yogurt but this was extra sour.

Jill in CO

I had one on our NCL ship, at the bar that does a martini selection- it was just ok...I do much prefer the ones from your watering hole.
Yes! I might be having one today... :rolleyes1
that is crazy how long it took!
I was not expecting that.
I had one on the Fantasy, plain yogurt is def a shock if you aren't used to it!
Also I think European Yogurt is less sweet than American. A couple days later I took a little tub of it from the buffet and even the fruit yogurt was bitter.
The bacon looks so good here! Well cooked and not too fatty!
The bacon on the ship was mostly good!
The cucumbers are an interesting touch!
I think that's a European thing. They were on all my breakfast plates in Austria.
Dorian's coffee shop drink of choice :thumbsup2
Mine on the ships!
What will the girls get up to next?! popcorn::

I ain't going anywhere, lady.
That's right. I remember you telling me that.....
Overeat? On a cruise ship??

Actually neither of us did. I guess it's the fact that we both seem to have appetites the size of birds......
::yes::
And homemade blue cheese dressing. I've done that. Yum! Should do that again, soon.
I made some of that back after Fran's memorial service. There was a TON of Blue cheese leftover and I took it home. I couldn't figure out what to do with it and decided to make salad dressing and I found a delicious recipe. I need to find that because I should make it again!
You can google that ya know. ;)

:duck:

Yeah, but Jill probably had the internet, you know......

Fun! And I bet pretty challenging in rough seas!

I wouldn't know, we never played it!

Land ho!

Oh... excuse me. Land, ma'am.

:lmao:

Well if you're talking my days 30-40 years ago that would have been appropriate. Today not so much, but one can hope! :hyper:

I like the way the clouds are glowing. :)
Even better.

I love that part, just before the sun rises when the clouds glow like that. I know I'm crazy liking to get up and watch the sun rise, but it's particularly spectacular at sea!

You leave a lasting impression!

Or not.

Well she did say in her comments that she was fighting off a cold from the day of rain in Southampton, so she may have been super asleep. Unlike me.

I don't think I've heard that name before. Is that another specialty dining room?

It's one of the three MDRs on the Dream, I'm sure Liesa has mentioned it by now.

I noticed those... I might have done the same. Except if I hadn't had bennies the day before, then I'd probably do that.

Yeah, I like a yogurt parfait now and then, but the European Yogurt is way more tart than that in the Americas. I find that out in a later post.

Really? That's strange. European tastes, maybe? :confused3
YUP! ::yes::
My least favourite pastry. Just not a fan.
Really? It took me a while to warm up to them, but now I love them!
That sounds pretty good. :)
It was!
That... looks disappointing. If it's called hashbrown... then I want hash!
Yeah, that's the thing on DCL, they serve basically a McDonalds Hashbrown.
Aww... Jill getting into the spirit. :goodvibes
And you should see her on the next TR in WDW, she totally gets into it! :hyper:
Looks like he's giving you an earful.

:lmao:

Originally when planning for this cruise we found an awesome excursion for Vigo. It started by going to some type of attraction (church, castle, whatever kind of thing they have), but the part that Jill and I both remembered was that we ended up at a winery that specialized in Albariño. We could pick up our four bottles of wine on the excursion! However, when it came time to book the activities on the ship, that wasn't one of the options. One of the couples at our table on the first night mentioned that as well.

In the other ports, Jill found us some fun stuff to do, outside of the DCL excursions, but here there were no private tours, no nothing. We had found a guided (print from online and follow) tour, but when we realized that the whole city was built on steep hills, we decided against a lot of touring.

Jill was still feeling a bit under the weather and honestly I was fairly tired too. I still wasn't sleeping great, and would wake up periodically throughout the night. So we set out with no real agenda but to find a store where we could purchase our allotment of wine. Boy this ship is big from up close!

0091b981-fcf1-4d50-bfd0-0fc6a4e9535e.jpg

As we walked past a small marina there were a ton of local folks selling rip offs of designer handbags.

be39b5f9-23e2-412c-8ead-cb2804ad060b.jpg

We walked up a hill to a little street filled with cafés serving oysters. Evidently the proximity of Vigo to the sea makes it a seafood loving town.

71ee3b89-9522-4bc8-8cc5-b756e95d4a23.jpg

We had no interest in dining here, so we continued on. Jill doesn’t really care for much seafood, and I wasn’t sure if I wanted to try the local cuisine without someone to guide me. I’m adventurous, but not that much. The commercial part of the street came to an end and turned mostly residential. We found these kitties in their own little homes.

d4778ba6-da2a-4133-a32c-ffbfebbcd402.jpg

So we decided to climb another hill and see what was up there.

5d0c5b5f-3e5d-4eea-b4c2-659ec647b2b9.jpg

Oh look Jack Sparrow! Up there on the balcony.

3e94687f-7d25-4a3b-af1e-04f2467da29b.jpg

Just to our right was a tiny market. And lo and behold they had a bunch of Albariño in stock. We found them for about ~€10.00. It translated to $55 when it hit Jill's credit card. The market was right across from this church.

bd39646a-55f3-4fe7-8fe1-c3907d760e01.jpg

Then we made our way back to the ship. We found a shortcut that basically cut out all the steep hills and took us right back to the marina area where we exited the ship.

As we walked down the ramp/bridge we passed over that little street that had all the oyster cafes.

As we got closer to the ship, there was this nice little switchback that allowed us to descend and a very reasonable grade.

Remember I told you that there were folks selling cheap knock offs when we got off the ship? Many of them had already left, but here’s a couple that were left as we were getting back.

We got back to the room, dumped our stuff and went up to the Rainforest Room while everyone was still out on excursions. We had a pretty nice view from the hot tubs.

After about 20 minutes in the hot tubs we went for the heated tile loungers.

We grabbed a couple slices of pizza and took them back to the room cause there was no place to sit up on deck 11. Instead of having the pizza ready, we had to tell them what we wanted and then they cooked it and gave us the pieces when it was ready. Everyone kept trying to take our slices of pepperoni which was under the warmer while we were waiting for the four cheese pizza to finish. But the gal was great and saved them until our entire order was ready.

Back in the room, we sat on our Verandah enjoying our respective beverages. Jill still wasn’t up for wine on the Verandah yet.

We just sat outside enjoying the view.

Here is the church that we saw earlier, zoomed in on my camera.

You can see in this picture just how far we walked up the hill to where the church was.

As it came closer to our “All aboard” time, we started to watch the buses pull into that parking lot near the middle to the top of the pictures. This is when you want to be on a “Disney sponsored excursion” because the ship will wait for you if you are late. If you book your own private excursion, the ship doesn’t wait.

We watched the passengers who booked on Disney excursions returning to the ship after 5PM when we were supposed to sail away. And then we watched as the ship sailed away from the port.

Then the ship moved into position so that the sun was in Jill's eyes, and we decided to take it inside. I’ll be back with the before dinner escapades.

Actually neither of us did. I guess it's the fact that we both seem to have appetites the size of birds......
Considering the hummingbird can eat 100% of its bodyweight in food...
I made some of that back after Fran's memorial service. There was a TON of Blue cheese leftover and I took it home. I couldn't figure out what to do with it and decided to make salad dressing and I found a delicious recipe. I need to find that because I should make it again!
Yes you should... so should I!
Yeah, but Jill probably had the internet, you know......
:lmao:
Well if you're talking my days 30-40 years ago that would have been appropriate.
Oh my!
Today not so much, but one can hope! :hyper:
Always hope. :)
I love that part, just before the sun rises when the clouds glow like that. I know I'm crazy liking to get up and watch the sun rise, but it's particularly spectacular at sea!
I'll need to remember that. :)
It's one of the three MDRs on the Dream, I'm sure Liesa has mentioned it by now.
Nope. She's not started that TR yet. Just the PTR.
Yeah, that's the thing on DCL, they serve basically a McDonalds Hashbrown.
Blech. Pass.
And you should see her on the next TR in WDW, she totally gets into it! :hyper:
:thumbsup2

However, when it came time to book the activities on the ship, that wasn't one of the options. One of the couples at our table on the first night mentioned that as well.
That's weird. I wonder what happened?
when we realized that the whole city was built on steep hills, we decided against a lot of touring.
You'd need a Segway tour. ::yes::
Or a rickshaw.
So we set out with no real agenda but to find a store where we could purchase our allotment of wine.
 "So you went to Spain, what did you do?"
"Bought wine."

"Fair."
As we walked past a small marina there were a ton of local folks selling rip offs of designer handbags.
Were they obviously rip offs? Or did you just assume it due to the prices/location?
Evidently the proximity of Vigo to the sea makes it a seafood loving town.
Makes sense.
We had no interest in dining here
No. Not right by the port. I'd assume mediocre food at exorbitant prices.
We found these kitties in their own little homes.
Were there a lot of those homes? Or just those two that you saw?
Oh look Jack Sparrow! Up there on the balcony.
Dude gets around. Is Vigo known for its rum??
Just to our right was a tiny market. And lo and behold they had a bunch of Albariño in stock. We found them for about ~€10.00. It translated to $55 when it hit Jill's credit card.
Is that a good price? No clue. :confused3
Remember I told you that there were folks selling cheap knock offs when we got off the ship? Many of them had already left, but here’s a couple that were left as we were getting back.
Yeah... I'm gonna go with "If it's displayed on the ground..."
We had a pretty nice view from the hot tubs.
ahhhh... bet that felt good. Love a nice tub.
After about 20 minutes in the hot tubs we went for the heated tile loungers.
Have never tried that. Actually... don't think I've even seen that!
Instead of having the pizza ready, we had to tell them what we wanted and then they cooked it and gave us the pieces when it was ready.
Nice that they do that. Much better after its just prepared vs sitting under a heat lamp for an hour.
Everyone kept trying to take our slices of pepperoni which was under the warmer while we were waiting for the four cheese pizza to finish. But the gal was great and saved them until our entire order was ready.
Did she stab their hands with a fork?
We just sat outside enjoying the view.
Nice view, too!
You can see in this picture just how far we walked up the hill to where the church was.
Pretty high up. That hot tub must've felt especially nice after that.
This is when you want to be on a “Disney sponsored excursion” because the ship will wait for you if you are late. If you book your own private excursion, the ship doesn’t wait.
I've seen videos of people just missing their ship...
We watched the passengers who booked on Disney excursions returning to the ship after 5PM when we were supposed to sail away.
Proof that they do indeed wait!

However, when it came time to book the activities on the ship, that wasn't one of the options. One of the couples at our table on the first night mentioned that as well.
Well darn! that would be annoying when you are looking forward to something!
Looks like perfect weather!

We found these kitties in their own little homes.
These kitties overall look pretty healthy?
So we decided to climb another hill and see what was up there.

This is giving me SH vibes!
Did you have a fav out of these 4?
What a great way to enjoy the view!

Ok, I'm ready for dinner now! 🥩🍖🥗

I was really bummed as it sounded fabulous!
We walked up a hill to a little street filled with cafés serving oysters. Evidently the proximity of Vigo to the sea makes it a seafood loving town.
It was a whole street of oysters! We did see oyster beds when we sailed out of the harbor later that night.
We found these kitties in their own little homes.

Leave it to Alison to find all the kitties!
We had a pretty nice view from the hot tubs.

Best excursion of Vigo! LOL
But the gal was great and saved them until our entire order was ready.

DCL pizza is surprisingly good especially when fresh!
Back in the room, we sat on our Verandah enjoying our respective beverages. Jill still wasn’t up for wine on the Verandah yet.

I LOVE European orange Fanta (Fanta, Fanta, do you want to want to? LOL) and I bought a couple of bottles in London and carried on. So much better than the bright orange American Fanta.
We just sat outside enjoying the view.

Vigo was beautiful to look at but I couldn't find much to see/do. Luckily we had better ports to come!

Happy Holidays everyone!

Jill in CO

Considering the hummingbird can eat 100% of its bodyweight in food...
Well if I flitted around all day like that, I'd eat my bodyweight in food too!
That's weird. I wonder what happened?
I bet the local tour operator dropped out.
You'd need a Segway tour. ::yes::
Or a rickshaw.
We did actually consider a Segway tour, but decided against it.
 "So you went to Spain, what did you do?"
"Bought wine."

"Fair."
Hey it was a local wine!
Were they obviously rip offs? Or did you just assume it due to the prices/location?
See your statement below.
Were there a lot of those homes? Or just those two that you saw?
These were the only two we saw, then again we didn't cover too much ground.
Dude gets around. Is Vigo known for its rum??
Not that I know of....
Is that a good price? No clue. :confused3
Well we wanted to keep our "sipping in the room" wine around or under $10. Lisbon was a bargain!
Yeah... I'm gonna go with "If it's displayed on the ground..."
See you answered your own question!
ahhhh... bet that felt good. Love a nice tub.
We made good use of those rainforest room passes!
Have never tried that. Actually... don't think I've even seen that!
I don't think Disney has the exclusive on them, but they are on all the Disney ships and in many of the Disney spas.
Nice that they do that. Much better after its just prepared vs sitting under a heat lamp for an hour.
With the popularity of the pizzas and the amount of people who wanted ours, I dint think they would have sat for even 15 minutes!
Did she stab their hands with a fork?
There was a glass barrier, but the kept asking if they could have ours.
Pretty high up. That hot tub must've felt especially nice after that.
::yes::
I've seen videos of people just missing their ship...
That's unfortunate.
Proof that they do indeed wait!
Yes! Which is why you will see that we are back well before "all aboard" time in our next two ports!

Well darn! that would be annoying when you are looking forward to something!
It was definitely disappointing. It was the only DCL excursion that we had planned and when it came time to book there was nothing even remotely like it on the booking website.

Which reminds me, I need to take a look at the DCL website and see if there is anything remotely interesting to do on the birthday cruise!
Looks like perfect weather!
If I'm not mistaken it was pretty nice and warm on this day!
This is giving me SH vibes!
At first I was like SH? And then I realized! This was nowhere as steep as the hill at SH!
Did you have a fav out of these 4?
Honestly, I just drank them and didn't really pay attention. I knew I probably wouldn't be seeing any of them again. We just kind of did "eeny meany miney moe" to pick them out.
What a great way to enjoy the view!
::yes::
This is also a very nice way to enjoy the view! 🍷
