*The Official VILLAS AT DISNEY'S GRAND FLORIDIAN RESORT & SPA Owners & Lovers Group*

I'm actually debating about whether it's closer... I guess it depends on which GF location you are referring to. It's certainly not a lengthy trek, especially if you, like I, actually look forward to getting away from a desk and walking 25k steps. Enjoy! We're looking forward to enjoying "your" resort in early spring as well!
I'm sure @AstroBlasters means the original VGF building, not BPK... That guy would never be caught dead in a studio!

Lol. I assumed he meant the DVC building. Being virtually equidistant between the Grand’s main lobby and Island Tower (and “equidistant” in the sense that it’s a <5 minute walk to either), the DVC building now occupies some very prime real estate!

I would say that your sentiment is correct, we bought into DVC for larger accommodations.

For the record I’m staying in a studio at VDH in Feb when I’ll be at DLand for a day with my Mom. I’ve also stayed in a duo at VDH during a solo trip.

So annoying... that wasn't on any refurb radar for me. My first time at GF. Oh well, I guess we hadn't planned much time to swim anyway.

So did they just post this about the courtyard pool closing? Because Polynesian has all of 2026 construction alerted already for DVC members to make informed decisions staying there. I don't remember seeing this alert recently or even yet months ago when I booked the Grand. I’m feeling pretty upset about it. Contacting Disney to let them know.

It also might be that something unexpected happened that needs to be fixed. I wouldn’t always assume the worst case scenario and go in guns blazing.

Wow what a horrible phone experience. Spoke to a dvc member services supervisor. Kept cutting me off and seemed like she was having a bad day. She kept flip flopping on her answers.
-She said she spoke to the Grand Floridian and was told the refurbishment should be done by early February with just some pool cleaning so it shouldn't be an issue.
- I said the site says until the end of February
- she then says well it was unforseen and for your safety and we have no control over that.
-I said it says on the site its routine maintenance and how is this unforseen?
- she then said no it says nothing about routine maintenance then proceeded to read me what it says on the site but omitting “routine maintenance “
- I said excuse me but I’m looking at the site right now , you missed “routine maintenance”
- she said yes well it was posted at the end of November so you knew well in advance
- I said I booked half a year ago, it wasnt posted and nobody is finding any availability anywhere from November for January and that is not in advance. I also said polynesian is showing all of 2026 maintenance so us members can make informed decisions when booking a stay there 7-11 months in advance. It went on from there until she realized her answers were contradictory and said she can’t do anything.

eventually she agreed to escalate it and I am now awaiting a call from somebody in escalation team? I was very cordial but wow that was bad. To some people this may not seem like a big deal but to my family and I, it is. Everyone will be using the other pool (crowded) and our view will be construction. Had we known in advanced, I’d have booked a different category view or a different resort. Now, there is nothing else available and we are in the “holding” timeframe for points cancelation.

If something bothers you, let them know. Its better for our future as guests.

This is really unfortunate to read about the courtyard pool closure. I’m booked at the villas at grand Floridian February 27 - march 3rd, and we were planning on doing 2 or 3 pool days while there. Prior to booking I purposefully always check the Disney world website for maintenance work on the pools because we tend to do more resort days than park days when we visit due to our kids being so young.

I too may call a week or so in advance to see if we can get switched to somewhere else due to the closure, but hopefully it’ll be opened up by mid February.
