Going to 6:00 Hoop-Dee-Doo.... Will be leaving from the Pop Century. I have a car. Would it be better to drive or take the bus? I heard that we should allow plenty of time to get there. Seating 1,2,or 3. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Take the bus to MK gates. Board the boat to FtW.
The FtW boat will dock just steps from the Hoop.

If you drive, you must park at FtW (which is WAY out off the main roadways)
THEN, you must take a FtW bus from the Guest Parking Lot to the Hoop bus stop (Settlement.)
Not close. Not fast.

If you have purchased your tickets, your seating (Tier 1, 2, or 3) has already been determined.

as Robo said even if you drive you will have to take the internal bus back to HDDR. no car parking even with a handicapped tag. you could walk but it just over a mile from parking lot to HDDR. also remember you will have to get that bus back to you car and bus will make stops at the loops for guests needing to get off or on. I remember one trip while waiting at bus stop waiting for bus to our loop. we watched the bus leave as we were arriving from park. there was a group waiting to get HDDR. one of the few times we had a long wait for bus. dad was getting worried and suggested just walking as it could not be that far. his idea was meet with unhappy wife when we guests said it was a mile walk. we all ended up waiting for bus. boat from MK is just a short walk over from the dock but allow at least 40 minutes to an hour from MK dock to get over. this allows for just missing boat and waiting for next one to arrive. about a 20 minute ride over.

Take the bus for sure. But I would do what others suggest and take the bus to MK, and then take the boat over (we were at MK that day, so we took the boat). It's a very short walk from the boat to the show. There's a playground there for the kids as well.

If you have "Will Call" tickets, you can pick them up anytime, check in opens up 30 minutes before the show, and be warned, you'll be standing in line for the remaining 30 minutes. It's not assigned seat per se, so first come, first serve.

Now, as for 1,2 or 3... it depends on when you're going and how busy it is. If it's slow and not that busy, you may end up with section 1 seating regardless of what you pay - that's what happened to us. We paid for 2, but since it wasn't close to full, we all got section 1! But we also went to the 4:00 show which is slower. So, I would choose section 1 or 2. If you choose section 1 you have a good chance of being brought into the action/the show, which is a great experience. But, section 2 is a bit less crowded seating, while still allowing you a straight on view.

Sorry, but speaking as a Hoop veteran for decades...
You are not required to stand in line for 30 minutes.
You can find a spot to sit and watch for the doors to open,
(they ring a very large "dinner bell") and just wait for the crowd to thin down as they enter the theater.
You will not get a "worse" seat if you enter later as ALL SEATS ARE ASSIGNED IN ADVANCE when you make your reservation.
It is not first-come, first served.
In fact, when you pick up your Will Call Hoop ticket (you can do so at any Guest Relations on WDW property, including any WDW Resort concierge desk) your table number will be printed right on your ticket.
If you forget to pick up your Will Call ticket in advance, you can do so when you arrive at the Hoop location (Pioneer Hall) at a Concierge/Will Call window to the left of the theater building, adjoining the restroom area.

Just did the POP-to-Hoop-de-Do commute and took the bus/boat route. I think I gave myself an hour and a half so I would have time to really enjoy the boat ride and chill out at Ft Wilderness, since it is so lovely, and it all worked out perfectly. Loved the show and will be doing it again when I'm there in December.

What's the best way from Wilderness Lodge to HDDR?

Three options:

Bus: Drops off at Settlement Depot
Boat: Drops off at Marina, next to the Settlement
Walk: Only do this if it is not too dark out. Two paths, one entirely paved, and one along Bay Lake. The paths basically let out right next to the Settlement.

I would probably walk to HDDR unless it was dark or I was with someone that could not walk it. The path through the wood along the lake is nice and peaceful. Otherwise, I would probably do the bus personally.

I agree with all Robo has said about going to Hoop Dee Do and how the seating is. Taking the bus to Magic Kingdom and then the boat to Fort Wilderness is the best way. Just a short walk from the boat to the venue. And your seats have already been assigned so no need to even think about that. Also, if you get there early, just sit and relax. We sat on the Settlement's porch and actually bought a beer inside from the store since I was anal and we were there a full hour before entrance. We even avoided having our pictures taken outside. Very nice time waiting for the show. There is no mad rush to the doors. We just strolled in after the first people went inside and had our seats dead center and up front since I had made our reservations as soon as I could.

:thumbsup2My vote is for the boat also! Such a nice relaxing ride back to MK after you stuff your guts with Chicken, Ribs, and Beer. Sorry no room for Strawberry shortcake for this guy!

Great information!! Thanks!!

We have reservations to see the 8:30 show in December. We will be coming from DHS. What's the best way to get there? And how early should we leave DHS? We plan to hop over to MK for EMH afterwards so we will be taking the boat afterwards.

TIA!!

1. Bus to Wilderness Lodge, boat to FtW.
2. 75 minutes before your reservation time.
You could choose to go to MK by bus, but the boat trip from there will take extra time.

Also, if you have not been to see Wilderness Lodge, I'd add another half-hour, or so, to your lead-time and spend those extra minutes just exploring the WL. It's breathtaking!

3. That'll work.

Route marked is the paved path. Very nice! (But, as said, only in the daylight.)

I will also be coming from HS to Hoop. I was unaware how hard HDDR is to get to! Glad the OP made this thread. very helpful.
Thanks Robo for the advice. i was going to drive but reading all this has changed my mind! I have an 8:30 ressie
Thanks!

Just leave yourself lots of time! We did POP to MK to HDDR and left ourselves an hour and a half to make the trip. We were 20 minutes late. :( Now we weren't the only ones late, I think the boat was having issues. But it was stressful and we missed most of the salad and cornbread.

And make sure your kiddo isn't too tired. Ours fell asleep on the boat after hours of fighting a much needed nap and almost missed the 4 pm show. THEN she was a beast when I finally woke her up until the music started and food was put in front of her (&lolol).

Of course she didn't fall asleep on the boat ride BACK to the MK and hotel. :rotfl2:

Thanks for all the info! We are going to HDDR on a Sunday, but going to the last show of the night so we could get cat 1 seating. We are planning on checking out Trader Sam's that evening before the HDDR. Are there buses to go back to Pop after the show, or do we have to go back to MK to catch one there? There is a MVMCP that night, so going back to catch a bus from MK will be no problem.

Just did this spring from POP to HDDR. We took bus to MK then boat. Even with the Disney 1.5 hour estimate we gave ourselves 2 hours - good thing. We did okay getting to MK but then we had to wait for a boat, which couldn't come in until resort boat on next dock moved out. It was a larger boat so they sat and waited until it was packed to the gills. Not so smart move was sitting at the back. We got to WL and while some got off, lots got on to head to MK. Got to FW and we had to sit out in the water waiting for clearance. Then we had to fight our way off the boat. Made just in time to check in. So easy once done because of reserved seating but I would have been upset to miss any of it. I dreaded the whole reverse commute and was wishing we drove .... but at the late show they had a few buses just for us with resorts grouped. POP was first let off on our bus.

1. Yes.
2. Nope.
Just walk to the bus stop (seen on the top map in my post #2.)
There will be several buses waiting.
Just tell any driver the resort to which you are headed.
The drivers will see that you get aboard the right bus.
